I would like to believe that, but as I interact with young people almost everyday(ages 18-24 primarily) they all claim that the protests are largely peaceful.

Problem is they obviously are not for certain elements. I was once a young person also. The difference between intelligence and wisdom is experience. Not trying to change the thread, but you need to objectively look at the real history of slavery. African slavery was controlled by the African elite who benefited from it. Make no mistake. We got some bad apples, and we are paying for it. Not racist, remember the love of my life and soul mate is of African decent. But real is real and it is painful. Houston, we have a problem.

Well strangely the media is silent on the violence and sophisticated oppression of black people.

The media doesn't harp upon black unemployment, discrimination, mass incarceration (while white rapist and pedophiles are getting months in prison), race soldiers attacking black women, police found not guilty of shooting 13 year olds, etc.

Africa had never heard of chattel slavery where a human is legally considered less than human.

Certain African countries made the choice to work with the slave trade rather than become slaves. In return they were still colonized.

I have a tendency to agree as history has been malnulated, however certain telling objective information exists mainly from the academic black community who really does want to know their roots and their history. Like I say, I'm Irish n we have roots too. You just need to look for it.

It isn't even the manipulation of history. Simply the method of teaching history.

Assuming you consider forced labor as slavery my country(not all of the occupants, but a number) has been enslaved within the past 70-80 years. A relative was forcibly sent to a Siberian work camp in the USSR for five years.

Caught the satire. I'm a former professional martial artist whom helped pay for his college education teaching PE classes at the universitiy I attended. The classes were taught on the basketball court we're our team played and was open to people watching from the stands. I made the mistake of seeing a person in the stands whom looked like a HS black friend. So I went over to say hi and pay my respects. Turns out to be mistaken identity and I apologized. Ended being called a devil, if he looked like me, he wasn't your friend, etc. ya, for real.

Slavery is still alive and well in many pars of africa to this day, particularly in muslim controlled areas.

That's like saying gun owners should give up their arms because some idiot went on a shooting spree.

Let me say I agree with you and others that there were peaceful protestors, and these criminals took over.

However, their rights to peaceful protest end when violence erupts.

For gods sake, someone in the crowd was shot! What was the police and the rest of us to say "Move the body to the side please so the peaceful protestors can keep going".

Unfortunately, when the violence starts and property and innocent people are getting hurt, the protestors have to stop fro that night in that location.

I have found more often then not , being a veteran of war and fire fights myself, that when the person holding a gun (your gang bangers in this instance) starts receiving fire , they arent as brave or as disciplined as they like to come off....

Most CC carriers are avid shooters, and most states require them to be pretty adept at using their weapon.....

And if said person also has military experience, I dont expect the "gang bangers" holding weapons will be willing to be shot down so readily.....

So what can 1 gun do against multitudes? Take one or two of you down with them.....thats what.......

Who wants to volunteer first in that situation?

I'm exhausted, but because I must be awake anyways sure. The point was to study, or for others to study, the topic of slavery with a completely objective view or method. Now the only way for this to be possible is to leave any amount of emotion out of the subject. Calling it evil(and it is evil) is an emotional statement and is arguably subjective. Based on our social standards it is evil, but imagine morals were not a factor or did not exist and all that matters is economic prosperity of the system, then it is not evil(for that matter the idea of "evil" would not exist).

But that is not the case. I am NOT defending slavery.
