It would be the crux of the division in the nation in a way.

One side blames what it calls "unrestrained capitalism" and tries to convince everyone that more central control and socialism is the way to go like we've been doing for the last eight years.

The other side tries to convince everyone that we've been on the long march to socialism and it's not working so we need to back off and free the markets and the people and let them sort it out.

Now we have the crony and the capitalist.

I also like the fact that they are going to talk about not only police-community interaction, but also making changes within those communities.

They definitely need to go above and beyond to counter the propaganda narrative that the Left is anti-law enforcement.

I think Bernie supporters are overly optimistic.

Also, I am not Bernie supporter, just to be clear. I have an outrageous theory that the two parties are in collusion to elect Bernie, and I just can't quite get away from it.

I thought I was passed it after Bernie endorsed Hillary. But he didn't drop out. And he really is taking it to the convention. And there is still this miniscule chance for an upset...so my theory keeps calling me back.

ETA: BTW, it seems the rules change to eliminate the superdelegates would not be effective until 2020. I do not know the effective dates of any of the other proposed amendments regarding superdelegates though. But I don't see a path for Bernie through a rules change. The superdelegates would have to switch their support and that is not going to happen in the numbers that Bernie would need.

Interesting the guy who repealed Glass Stegall is going to be speaking, and they are pushing Homes again.

I guess they learned absolutely nothing from government backed GSE's, and 'last great depression'.

Expanding Social Security. As if 75 million people on it already wasn't enough, and guaranteed vow of poverty with the average month stipend is $1200 bucks. Considerably less for others.

Securing a dignified retirement. I guess that gonna be like making other people pay for your retirement. Like you, and your employer already are doing.

And 'relativizing' the post office ?

That thing is a dinosaur created at a time when UPS,DHL, and Fedex didn't exist. Not to mention it being the DIGITAL AGE rather superfluous.

I am not impressed.

Yes, those are all issues that must be addressed. Instead of shaking in our boots about radical Muslims and complaining about Benghazi, the Democrats appear to be focusing on things that have an affect on the average American voter.

Progressives aren't anymore average than their counterparts.
THAT is collectivist thinking.

It's a fail in logic.

Housing is an issue that goes beyond political parties. So does retirement and Social Security.

Correct?

I didn't say progressives are more average. I said those issues apply to the average voter. That includes people outside the Dem/Left party.

NOT AN INCREASE IN TAXES! The thing that pays for roads, the military, social security, the national parks, the FAA, and all the other good things that help Americans.

Taxes help EVERY AMERICAN. Sure its no fun if you just look at what comes out of your check and not at what that money it goes into.

Remember the sequester and how much that hurt every part of the government? How does lowering taxes keep that from happening? Its lower tax revenue instead of a GOP law forcing "do more with less".

www.demconvention.com...

We firmly believe that the greed, recklessness, and illegal behavior on Wall Street must be brought to an end. Wall Street must never again be allowed to threaten families and businesses on Main Street.

And there they are pushing EVERYONE get a home again.

Same EXACT reason for the financial crisis .

Democrats believe we are stronger when we protect citizens’ right to vote, while stopping corporations’ outsized influence in elections . We will fight to end the broken campaign finance system, overturn the disastrous Citizens United decision, restore the full power of the Voting Rights Act, and return control of our elections to the American people.

Yes they are strong on voting rights. Even dead people and ILLEGALS vote.

And that favorite manufactured villain AGAIN.

Citizens United.

Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, No. 08-205, 558 U.S. 310 (2010), is a U.S. constitutional law and corporate law case dealing with the regulation of campaign spending by organizations. The United States Supreme Court held (5–4) that Freedom of Speech prohibited the government from restricting independent political expenditures by a nonprofit corporation. The principles articulated by the Supreme Court in the case have also been extended to for-profit corporations, labor unions and other associations. [2][3]

en.wikipedia.org...

Same EXACT propaganda we have been hearing for the last eight years.

Democrats believe we are stronger and safer when America brings the world together and leads with principle and purpose. We believe we should strengthen our alliances, not weaken them. We believe in the power of development and diplomacy. We believe our military should be the best - trained, best - equi pped fighting force in the world, and that we must do everything we can to honor and support our veterans. And we know that only the United States can mobilize common action on a truly global scale, to take on the challenges that transcend borders, from in ternational terrorism to climate change to health pandemics.

For a group of people that supposedly believes our military should be the best, trained, equipped.

They sure like to GUT it a lot like they have done over the last eight years.

I liked how they supported, and honored our vets when they were off fighting two wars, and when they came home left to die.

Above all, Democrats are the party of inclusion. We know that diversity is not our problem — it is our promise. As Democrats, we respect differences of perspective and belief, and pledge to work together to move this country forward, even when we disagree. With this platform, we do not merely seek common ground — we strive to reach higher ground.

Well unless you happen to work at Wall Street that employs middle class workers that pay income taxes, or rich folks.

I mean their civil liberties don't really mean anything in the face of 'PAYING THEIR FAIR SHARE".

And unless they happen to be a police officer doing their jobs.

I digress.

I can't wait for the PROPAGANDA machine of the Democrat Convention.

You will be hearing "raise taxes" a lot this week.

Governments (Local and Federal) are broke enough, but the talkers will say it's all OK.

You should read through the DNC Platform.

There is nothing wrong with increasing taxes when needed. The GOP stance of never increase taxes is BS through and through. Look at G.H.W.Bush, he was forced to raise taxes and his party booted him out the door even though he did what was needed.

Will somebody please wake me up if there's 1.) bloodshed or tears or 2.) the DNC attempts a coup. The GOP one was a great sleeping pill. This one probably will be too.

Thanks.

Completely correct. Even Reagan found out the hard way that sometimes you have to raise or impose taxes.
