I do believe Trump favors a strong relationship with Russia rather than going to war with them.

Putin will eat Trump for breakfast!

Nobody has to do anything... I was merely saying that the list of things to fear, that you posted, was accurate.

It's fitting that the DNC is in the armpit of America.

Yes the continuous calls to lock her up and obsession in every speech with her was a special moment for the convention, The RNC was the Rodham National Convention.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander, I am not expecting them to not dismantle the Trump royal family. But I'll watch as that's the American way. Let me make my decision, oddly, the extreme right wing people here are the only ones yelling at me who to vote for.

*shrugs why should I care what anyone else thinks, Americans (not you, you are from Yugoslavia) should be encouraging me in my learning process here, not simply trying to squash me.

I'll watch what I damn well want to,and I'll decide to vote who I damn well want to without consideration from anyone else here.

Well if that GOP convention was your first convention that was one heck of a first time. It being debated what ranking holds in the worst conventions of all time, the consensus seems to be it is in the bottom 5 ever The Worst Convention in US history

So what your going to see with the DNC is what you are suppose to see. Party Unity, a positive over all message, the biggest names in the party and celebrity guest way above the guy from Charles in Charge. It will give you more personal look at the Candidate, lay out the platform and focus on charging up a unified party. They will attack Trump of course but, that will not be the focus of the convention. It will be a much more positive about America and much more optimistic than the doom and gloom.

Of course with no surprises it might be a bit more dull. Then again Trumps ratings were only slightly higher then Romney;s and lower than McCains. Which is surprising because you would tune fore the Trump crazy show. Perhaps America has just had enough of him.

TOPIC: Welcome One and All to The 2016 Democractic National Convention

Please discuss it and not the RNC...that is another thread...or those events from the RNC.
Trump had his week...and there are other threads for him and Republicans.

Thanks.

and, as always:

THANK YOU so very much for talking about the conventions with me!

I agree with your summation on the RNC, and what a way to be introduced, it was all little insane to a girl from a country town in OZ.

I am not sure what to expect from the DNC, but I think you may have it right. I am excited about it all.
I'm a bit like a kid in a candy store for the first time, wide eyed at all the crazy colors and people on sugar rushes.

Let's see, party unity, positive message, and real celebrities.

No doom and gloom.

Soooo, story time, no acknowledgement of reality, people who can't relate, and they are handing out rose colored glasses to the audience.

Sounds about right once you stop the spinning.

Oh and Clinton might break her 13 minutes of lying record.

The proposed superdelegate rules changes (+several variants/amendments) have enough support for a floor vote, BTW.

Interesting you have a definitive opinion on the DNC when we haven't lived through it yet

I think MrSpad gave you a pretty good summary of what to expect from the Democrat convention.

They are going to take little pot shots at Trump here and there, but overall I believe they are going to ensure that they stick to topics they feel are important to constituents and lay-out their case as why the American voter should vote for Hillary.

As he said, it may be a bit boring, but we are not watching for entertainment. The goal is to educate yourself on their platform and I hope they take that route, rather than what we witnessed from the GOP.

This is interesting, can someone help me out here (I'm learning) what does this mean for Bernie v Hillary.

Obviously leaking it at the start of the convention is a clear tactic from the opposition, but whatever we all knew it was happening so I'm glad it's out.

Can't wait for the red herrings, deflections away from the proven Hillary lies, and the mania on the floor.

No doubt.

I wonder if she will even address Benghazi, emails, and the current investigation for perjury, and her foundation.

And spin Comeys congressional hearing comments.

Questions come to mind.

Will there be protestors?
If so, what would they be protesting?
The message, will it be more hope and change?
Will there be safe spaces?

I'm looking forward to watching it the same way I watched my last colonoscopy. Interesting, but in the end, just full of sh##.

If they get enough support, they can force a floor vote on certain rules within the party, including how super delegates are appointed, and even to to unbind the delegates so they can vote for whomever they want.

One more thing, I posted on page one asking if anyone watched the Kaine speech and no one is talking about the topic lol.

BTW I just watched Clinton introduce her running mate Kaine. I found him to be a very reasonable kind patriot and he seems to be quite a devout christian and family man with a serving marine.

Interestingly to the new observer/student like myself that fits the republican traditional platform. Anyone else see him speak?

...thoughts anyone?

That is very unlikely. There is no reason to bring up something that has already been put to rest.

Gotcha, so is there any real chance of this happening? Or is it just wishful thinking?

I think he is a safe pick. He does not bring any controversy to the ticket or unnecessary baggage. Middle of the road, reasonable democrat. Picking him doesn't necessarily help the campaign, nor does it hurt.

She picked a VP with several kids from a swing state. She is trying to counter Trump and his children since she only has one ugly duckling that works for the family criminal organization with a son in law that lost a massive amount of money in hedge funds .He lost so much her State Dept had to step in to tip the scale. So sad.
