That's the thing, her off the cuff comments or interviews have been more measured and reasonable than Her husband's. She has actually criticized him to a small degree. CLEARLY she is a woman he cares about and takes great pride in her image. And, by all accounts, she is a smart lady. So, I doubt very seriously she would partake in any known copy-catting, at least not the kind that is beyond obvious such as this.

**BUT**, even if she did do it all on her own, **someone** in the campaign SHOULD have vetted it. It was a damn big deal. All eyes were on her and someone should have had her back. She's not a professional politician or even a professional speaker.

Bumbling and bush league.

Please, can someone give me one rational reason why are people freaking out about this?

Are you honestly this desperate, and have to make a big deal out of unimportant things, such as this?

It's not unimportant. The "story" here is not so much Melania or her speech, it's that the campaign allowed it to happen at all and for hours and hours there has been no decisive response or clarity to a story that has utterly hijacked their platform.

It characterizes the not-ready-for-prime-time organization that is the Trump campaign. A lack of attention or care. A lack of discipline and a complete disregard for the man's wife.

Bush league people, bush league. THIS is a window to how our country will be run if he is elected.

An even worse window to look through is Crooked Hillary and her lies and deception and proven failed policies.Trump is the lesser of these two evils, believe me. I'm no Trump supporter, but I'd much rather spend the next 4 years listening to his mouth than 4-8 years of Hillary. Hillary is nothing but a puppet. Someone is pulling her string, its obvious and I think Hillary is one person who could be talked into doing ANYTHING, no matter how vile, if enough money was thrown at her. All she is, is an extension of Obama. She'll continue Obama's legacy and his failed policies (ie no changes would be coming, just more of the same sad state of affairs and strife)

But this isn't about Hillary. It's about the Trump campaign. But hey, I agree, it's all bad.

How soon we forget.

Obama took part of his 2008 speech from Devan Patricks 2006 speech.
And Joe Biden plagiarized 5 pages.

The damage is done...

Now everything Melania says will be called into question. Time for the Trump campaign to take responsibility for their ****up's and constantly responding by pointing the finger at the opposition won't work any more.

Isn't it the Republican party that always parrots the "take responsibility" mantra?

The GOP needs to stop this crybaby **** and man up for a change.

It was Deval Patrick and he admitted it and also had the guy's consent. And Biden lost his bid for the Presidency at the time. So....

Hahahaha seriously....the damage is done? To a potential first lady? On a character issue?
Nice
Outrage over a political speech....no outrage over SOS lying to congress.
Well played dems...well played.

Intentional damage though. IF you have everything called into question you draw resources away from other things correct? And this can be blamed on the speech writer actually. or milania says she was inspired by MIchelles much like her husband was inspired by other speechs.

The "Trump" thing to do would be to tell Manaforte and all of his aides, "You're fired!", and declare it an establishment conspiracy to tank his campaign and come out guns blazing for the rest of the convention. . LOL!

When Democrats do it, nobody bats an eye. But when Republicans do it, everyone loses their mind.

I don't blame her at all. It's the incompetent campaign, run by Donald Trump.

IMO the whole incident is a sign of how Trump doesn't really want to be President. I could accept that people who have different political views have the same aspirations for their children. Any competent political staffer/Speech writer would have written a speech that reflects Melania's nature speaking patterns. This didn't happen so even the news clips of her speaking are horrid.

You understand that it's hard to take your outrage over this seriously when you all dismissed Hillary's obvious lies and corruption.

There is a reason for that. Our media is made up of Democrats who either ignore or downplay these things when Democrats do it, but exaggerate and go off the handle when Republicans do it. Their willing followers simply accept their narrative because it confirms all their fears and hatred.

Exactly. I'm not putting down Melania. This just shows how incompetent the campaign is. Cronyism is rampant, and clearly, many of these people have no clue what they're doing. When I learned that Trump's children were the last to interview the VP possibilities and Trump didn't pick Christie because his son-in-law didn't want him, I wondered why his kids had so much power... This speech thing just shows that Trump isn't willing to hire professionals and surround himself with competent advisors (and speech writers). He's building a Dynasty... surrounding himself, not with smart advisors, but with yes men.

And, of course, his wife is just a tool for him to get what he wants. I feel sorry for her.

Honestly, if the only thing most of you got out of the yesterday's convention was some similarity in speeches, then I don't know what to say.

As I recall, some very important issues had been raised yesterday, such as the responsibility for Benghazi. Why is that topic not getting necessary attention? I understand that topic has been discussed already, but the families did not get their justice.

Why are you guys wasting time on things that don't matter?

That might work....but even the Republicans I work for now see what a charlatan and Fraud the whole Trump campaign is.

Gov. Gary is going to be astonished at his support this go round.
