The Second Amendment and it's explicit language demands and insists that citizenry have ownership of firearms in order to function as a militia (military) when necessary. I
You understand that the body of the Constitution defines that militia, authority over it, and its role, right? Article 1, section 8.

When it comes time to refresh a certain parched tree, the citizenry must have the very finest instruments to accomplish that task...

That tree is so thirsty right now any instrument even blunt objects could water it.

I am a fellow patriot... it isn't time yet... but it is coming.

The truth is that the 2nd. Amendment guarantees our freedom by having a government in fear of it's people. This no longer exists. The people now fear the government... this cannot stand. This country is #ed, from top to bottom? Why?
The status quo.

# the status quo

The only way that they will make these weapons unavailable is when they invent more deadly weapons to replace them.

In some magically reality where they decide to ban all guns, it still will not matter. Even if every weapon on Earth is destroyed, it still will not matter. People who know how to use a lathe will build their own guns because of the simple rule of supply and demand. Post gun ban will cause a black market just like the drug trade.

The truth is, a lot of people ignore the whole of the Constitution in favor of their pet parts.

Sounds damn near biblical.

The U.S. Constitution, The Bill of Rights, and 227 years of and it's "sick fantasy" for you... After taking your ball and heading home, stop off and pick up some disappointment relief... The Second Amendment, firearm ownership, and the 300 million plus firearms in this country aren't going anywhere...

Thanks for reinforcing my initial assessment of this thread.

Actually, it does not, The Militia Act of 1792, and it's subsequent revision in 1795 does that.

To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

Careful... If you take that section a little too literally, the Congress is going to have to give me an AR (M16/M4)... I'd stick with the Militia Acts...

So, as a Senior NCO in the USAF should I sell my soul to the government, or should I fight, tooth and nail, for our freedoms? You tell me

You win the discussion board cowardice award... No biggie, I'll simply be sure to quote you in full in the future to document your ridiculous drivel...

I've never been particular in how I skin the cat, just as long as the fur comes off.

No. That was the purpose of the 2nd amendment.

Not very well designed are they?.
Just look at Orlando.
I would sue if they are not meant to kill folk.
