You raise another important issue, with your little post here, which I think doesn't get enough attention:

The DNC has a huge problem with exploiting the plight of poor minorities to score political points -- even though their plight is very much a result of failed social welfare policies that many democrats support.

Then when democrats get elected via this exploitation and emotional manipulation -- they do nothing to help end the cycle of poverty that the minorities you're referring to have been locked into.

And then there's more racebaiting, fingerpointing, and exploitation...but never any actual "help."

This exploitation is really just a shameful form of racism, IMO.

There may be some truth to that but actually Bill Clinton “reformed” the welfare system where it has depleted the number of people on welfare in America. Some say that has hurt a lot of poor people.

If the programs have become counter productive one has to have proof of that. Just because there is still poverty isn't proof, imo.


I dropped out of school and went back in my early twenties through a government program and through that got a HS diploma and went on to college so that helped me. So I know some of these programs work.

I’m mixed race.

Again I’m not saying Trump is a racist or his voters are( some of them are).

What I am saying is that Trump is using dog whistles to attract a certain voter group to his cause.

And indeed the larger point is that within certain conservative circles they are conservatives largely because it means denying minorities’ government money through programs.

Trump though isn’t about cutting these programs (good for him) so why do these racists follow him?

As long as you are comparing apples to apples in your anecdotal example.

I think the larger point is that the middle class is shrinking and poverty is growing, despite your personal experience. The social welfare system we have in place is failing -- that much is certain.

So, let's see some good ideas on how to fix that system and less racebaiting and exploitation for political expedience.

As it stands, it sure seems like those in charge of shaping our social welfare policies are intentionally creating generations of families trapped in a cycle of dependence on government assistance and then exploiting that dependence to get their votes.

On the other hand, if people falsely accuse someone of rape in a public forum, there are likely very serious legal consequences.

Racism? That accusation is falsely thrown out at whim with absolutely no regard for consequences.

But there are consequences. I pretty much tune out whenever someone is accusing someone else of racism, anymore. There's no room for honesty in the 'conversation.'
