The NC bill was meant to specifically target students.

My point though is that the people who preyed on you when you were young were child predators. There is no link between people like that and someone who is Trans, or Gay or whatever that might be using the same bathroom.

A predator who is after a kid doesn't have to pretend to be trans or a different sex at all. If they are a man they can simply go into the men's room and snag a boy or if they're a female go in to the ladies and grab a girl.

This bathroom policy doesn't effect anything or make a possible predator attack any more or less of a possibility.

So unless I'm just not understanding what your argument is I honestly think you're worried about something that isn't even effected by this policy in the first place.

I am guessing that in college my argument would still apply so I am assuming that the students you refer to are K-12. If that is true I can see why that would be a little harder to go where you feel you belong. I have a hard time identifying with this spectrum of the problem because when I was brought up you kept that to yourself or you would face ridicule from your friends and family, and you didnt reveal that sort of thing until you were an adult, if you ever did at all. I will takesome time and ponder on this, if I have a thought that comes across as interesting and the thread is still active I will post it.

Actually, both K-12 and college.

Micheal Savage has a bold solution. Turn the men's restroom into a unisex adults-only restroom, make the women's restroom into the kids-only restroom. I like the idea, but then you still have one problem to deal with...

Man lives as 6 year old girl...

The next step on the slippery slope is an attack on the legal consenting age. Expect it to be much younger nationwide, and if you don't agree with it you are a backwoods bigot.

All sorts of things to contend with, never simple never easy, however you can't pretend your age, and it's now part and parcel of the legalise, from the cradle to the grave. Anyway that transgender person has some other outlook, and as you can see in the video, he/she's also dressed as an adult would, though in some ways even that comparison has become blurred one way.
My general view is that people can do what they want as long as their actions dont affect others, however I've been around long enough to know that for some, children or adults, their actions are designed to do exactly that..for what ever reason, and there's no point in calling ghostbusters, or the law pretty much, when it comes to mind games.
So, the law doesn't necessarily speak for you, it speaks for the law.

After following many links, and reading article on both side of this line I have come to the conclusion that this bill is just plain stupid and needs to be repealed. The bathroom part has already been amended so that buisnesses may chose not to follow this law and though I cannot find a full text of the bill aperently there is a lot more written than just the bathroom thing.

For one thing, the state made it illegal for cities/counties to make laws that directly affect their demographic.

That's like CA making a state law that San Francisco and West Hollywood can't make laws that directly affect their specific demographic needs.

Also, if you religiously believe its a sin to be a single mother - - you can deny service to single mothers.

Yes, its a stupid law. America is not a theocratic government.

I would say the law is stupid simply because it stands no argument. I was thinking about it quite a bit today as I listened to right wing radio. The only argument they had was moral standards but mostly the rape angle. Then I thought "what is next, going to ban gay men from going to the men's and gay women from going to the women's?" Then the argument would morph into "how do we tell if someone is gay or not?"

Then I realized there are already laws in place to protect children from abuse, laws against peeping tom's ect.

It's much like certain gun bans that are pointless, its already illegal to murder people ect...

Stupid laws are stupid.

This is why:

I read about that guy "Buck" He never got a full blown sex change and also does not consider himself a woman. He is not a trans or put in the wrong body. He considers himself a guy and based off his interviews/interview images he plays macho guy leather roles in porn BUT has a vagina for the other guy to have sex with him as kinky.

He had his parts removed and has a molded vagina. He does not see himself as a woman. So why the operation? This example is a tad different since his intentions are not the same as the rest. I got the idea that he mostly did the vagina molding was for kink reasons rather than woman in man body. The trans that I have worked with (high school era) make it apparent that they want to be a woman and get injections, dress like a woman, Vagina operation, boob job etc etc and they want to go all out since they feel like a woman and behave like one. They do not want to be/look like a man.

Buck is a rarity, considers himself a woman but does not want changes and wants to stay a man. Yet the only changes he did to himself is add a vagina on a buff male body.

Exactly.

And statistically 80% of rapes are by someone you know.

BTW I am also a gun owner

Umm, Buck Angel is a transgender man - born with ladybits.

These are transgender men too.

Oh look! A transgender man in the ladies room following the law in NC.

No, I am pretty sure Buck Angel was born a woman, is taking hormone therapy, and decided not to do the genital surgery because of fear. I have seen him on the Joe Rogan podcast and took a quick peek at his work. For someone like me that isn't gay or "trans accepting" it was rather appalling. Its pretty hardcore porn that many people have tried to outlaw lol.

If a rapist has made up their mind to rape someone in a bathroom they are really not taking ANY laws into consideration, particularly one that says where you should be copping a squat.

It's just not rape. It's also perverts who may want to dress up like women so they can peep on women in the rest room or secretly video record children and women using their cell phones. I know my wife is certainly not comfortable with it, and if I had a young child, I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable with it.

Sure if a guy wants to rape some women in a restroom, nothing is going to stop him. However, there are some sexual deviants who just need some legality in the law to make them mentally justify crossing the line.

Bruce Jenner now Catlyn Jenner has said he's still attracted to women! So would I feel comfortable seeing him walking into a women's restroom if my wife was in there? Hell NO!

Gender and sexual orientation are not the same thing.

A transgender can be hetero, gay, bi, or whatever.

I am surprised, given how long I have been a lurker on this site reading many many comments on many different threads that no one has shouted distraction ... I also do not see what this has to do with rape, I am sure that very few rapes occur in public bathrooms. I could be wrong and have not researched it and dont really feel like typing that into my serach bar, no telling what you might find. That being said, someone who is transgender, looks male/female and you cant tell by looking at them if they have had "the" surgery to change genitals coud walk into the bathroom matching what they look like and no one would ever know unless we start doing genital/surgical scar checks. This entire subject seems like a distraction to me simply because it would be implausable to enforce unless you knew before hand someones trans state.

I'm on the same boat. the whole thing is sorta confusing..I believe if you look male, use the men's room or vice versa.

I usta be work friends with a guy named Peter in high school and he was a transsexual and wanted the full blown woman transformation. He was taking hormones, long hair kept in a man style bun and when dressed looked like a woman. There was just something slightly off about his look. In work, he choose to dress like a man, but you could tell there was something odd about him. Not flamer gay, but almost like his clothing style for a male looked goofy for a 28 year old adult. In work, he explained that at work, he dressed as a male and tried to act male since he has not had a sex change but because he was on hormones his voice was high and started to semi resemble a girl. (was on waiting list for boob job and mental evaluation for the transformation) He did dress as a woman, full makeup and female everything out of work. When he was fully dressed as a woman, he would use the womans restroom since he resembled a woman more. This makes sense. If you resemble a woman more but are biologically a man, than head to the womans room since it's less obvious.. Imagine how men would react to seeing a tranexual male fully dressed woman using the urinal? Keep in mind.

That Peter guy pointed out that there are 3 types. 1: Gay, same sex, 2: One that feels he IS a woman/man and wants to be the other sex and 3rd: Cross dresser. Guy who only wants to dress as woman but not BE a woman. Never wanting to act like the other sex, let alone sex change. He called those not real transexuals just have a kink for crossdressing and being a chick temporarily.

It appears as though we'll never be completely comfortable with everyone in the population.

There will always be molesters, rapists, freaks and perverts.

But how many times is it discussed here not to paint with such a broad brush?

Laws that focus on a single demographic are biased.

imho

Transgender can be both. I was reading the trans short version as transexual.

Im aware of that... When I was seeing Trans alone, I thought it was transexual. When you wrote out transgender it made me follow a bit better on the subject.
