After reading the post to here I have to say that I'm extremely surprised at the support of organised religion on ATS, almost scary, over 4000 religions worldwide and you think there is merit in them? Divide and conquer, my religion or die, my religion or eternal damnation, my religion or hell it is

Sure is funny how the God you love allowed humans to be owned by slaves.

Sure is funny how the God of love said people should be stoned to death for working on Saturdays.

Sure is funny that the same God allowed a rapist to purchase his victim as long as she wasn't married.

Sure is funny that he cares so much about sexual immorality yet some of "God's kings" in the bible had many concubibes (sex slaves) and God still somehow blessed them.

Read the bible for what it is. A collection of stories. Nothing more.

He sent the Angels to destroy cities in the Old Testament, did't need to do that after Jesus sacrificed himself for the sins of men. "Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you."

It basically says....don't waste your time, on people that are only here to "argue" their point, when not even considering yours.

Not that the OP is a Global Warmer / Climate Changer but I find it ironic that most people that bash religion with their main argument being it hasn't been proven that the big guy exists actually swallow the hoax of Climate Change. Using their tools of proof (SCIENCE) man made Climate Change has actually been proven to be so inaccurate it's laughable.

So they deny a God exists because God's existence has not been proven to their satisfaction. On the other hand, they embrace Climate Change with fanatical fascist abandon.. Ironically, that IS their religion. So they rail against that which they embrace..

The whole thing is a comedy show..

It's just saying this is written to be understood by the people who are open to it and then suggests God helps them be open to it.

Hardly see how that's offensive. It's certainly no worse than telling vast swaths of humanity they're stupid for believing in anything at all.

It seems like you just don't like the idea some people are open to the ideas more than anything.

LOL. It makes it quite clear that after the Rapture, God, Jesus and all of the Angels will punish harshly. After which, is eternal damnation. A spiritual place void of light, that contains horrors the like, no man has ever seen, nor can comprehend. It's in the book.

Bias is human. Belief is human. Some people believe in a higher power beyond time, some "the experts", others believe all the higher power they need looks back at them in the mirror every morning.

No shocker there, but it can be very funny under certain circumstances.

Rapture is a relatively recent innovation that seems to come with the new prosperity gospel and changes to the understanding of suffering's role in a human life. The old school understanding is that if bad things happen, we're all in that same boat.

But, I know my mother fervently believes in it. My father's holding out hope Kurzweil's going to find a way to digitize us all ...or some kind of sci-tech secular rapture.

I love my parents, but one sounds as preposterous as the other to my ears. We don't argue it, though. No point.

How is it relatively recent? It's spoken of in the Old and New Testaments...the King James version even.

Climate change is not a religion. Did you eat a lot of paint chips when you were little? Maybe inhale some glue and gasoline? Why the hell would people make up climate change? For what purpose would that serve? Maybe I want the earth to still be here for my children's children unlike you who can't wait for the second coming (which won't happen btw) and look forward to Armageddon. Think!!!
