Sadly, what you said in the OP was true. If the Quran were to be followed strictly, it would turn its followers into a sociopathic killer. I don't believe that the majority of Muslims take the violent parts of the Quran to heart, but you never really know what they believe since the Quran teaches deceptive practices.

It seems like we need a "Stupid Stereotypes" forum to put misinformed hyper-paranoid stuff like this into.

We have the HOAX forum for hoaxes.

The LOL forum for Internet lies and fabrications.

Seems like "Stupid Stereotypes" would be a good dumping ground for the sudden rise in threads like this, and others.

Seems like its guiding the discussion perhaps more than it should be (its your site i achknowledge that), I personally have friends who identify as Muslim so I do not share the OP sentiment, but I made a thread recently that you were involved in and critical of, and I am interested to know directly, would that thread qualify for such a forum? thanks in advance

I think the title of this thread qualifies.

I live in a Manhattan neighborhood that is an odd mix of Mosques, Synagogues, and Catholic churches, with a high number of Muslim and Jewish owned businesses mixed together. All is well. No issues. I see many Muslims walking the sidewalk every day, pleasant people.

Well I'm with you, in fact I take a liberal minded approach when it comes to individuals and I enjoy debating topics to stay sharp. I have a friend he has ideas about homosexuals and apostates (he believes they should be jailed not killed) now alone this friend is fine, (harmless) in fact he's a little goofy and often makes me laugh, we discuss often these disagreements and what I have found is my view can tolerate his view but his view cannot tolerate my view. I even told him (jokingly) I was going to write him a kids story book titled "we don't kill or jail our friends".

I try to educate my self but I am in no way blind, I wish to see the forest and the trees and truly understand, I lost friends in OIF and I feel I have a vested interest. With all that said, the folks in Belgium also looked around and said "what terrorist", so I am not sure if I am misunderstanding but that veiwpoint may not be the most prudent veiwpoint to take

I do love your site and often appreciate your views, I just think liberals are failing us, when they broadbrush as peaceful and prevent healthy critisms from occurring. I my self in many ways am liberal but I cannot identify with the party based on a few issues.

It's disturbing that you are in every thread even slightly critical of Muslims but in those threads regarding Islamic terrorist attacks, you are silent or defending the "peaceful majority". You have also said, you work combating extreme Muslims in our community's, in other threads.(which I will spend the time to dig up if you like) yet here you are saying in all your time you've never met an extremist in the U.S, must be a easy job then, interesting.

Yes i work in a support gorup to help dissuade new converts and youth from following khuaraij ideology. I also stated in this thread i haven't ever encounterd anything "extreme enough" to cause alarm . save for online.

Heres what ive learnd on ATS when trying to enducate people in light of a Terrorist attack..IT DOESN'T WORK.

People here on the boards don't want to hear what i have to say and that's fully underatandable.

If you continue to "dig up" what i have to say on extremist then you will find that i DO NOT support them nor do I consider them to be Muslim. I would honorably lay my life down to protect both muslim and non muslim from these evil scum.

What's your point again ?

I am aware of the Muslims in the UK. Allot of extremsit imams their they need to be delt with asap. But from my underatanding its a small percentage comapired to your "moderate muslims " .

I can only account for the Muslims in america and the community's ive been around .

Nice,

I will put up with my native friends being abused by hate gangs for wearing skirts in summer that they deem to cause offence to their muslim views.. Or the fact that I can not walk in many parts of the area that I was born and raised in as I am a white (c???) and this is their country now.. Or the large groups of men that have followed my wife to almost her front door. This can happen with any group yet we still have community leaders that represent the Muslim populas that refuse to speak to a women or even shake hands with one even if they are from the council or local authority..

Yes there are many radical imams and where are the "non" radicals that are trying to stop it???...

This type of behaviour I do not believe represents muslims or how they should act but there is a serious problem that many western born muslims are causing for their other brothers and sisters and I say that sincerely.

A large majority of these people are born into western society so they should not know any different but someone is filling their heads with radical views..

RA

Sorry your experiencing that. Their are plenty of muslims who are combating them. In fact i knew of a few who have died protecting kurds and christans from these scum . their is also a gret Imam named Abu kahadeeja in the UK who constantly speaks out against these wing nuts.

www.islamagainstextremism.com...

Takes a little effort. We dont get the air time needed to reach the masses unfortunately.

There is logic to the OP, especially in regards to immigration.

No one, including yourself I am sure, throws their doors wide open and leaves them that way 24/7 hoping that only "good" people let themselves in. You lock your doors and take necessary precautions to protect yourself, your family, and your property. For most of us there is a group of people we try to protect ourselves from. We call them strangers. We know them when we see them. We need no more than that to know they are who we need to protect ourselves from. Only after we get to know them individually do we relax our defenses and let our guard down and enjoy their company. We don't meet one stranger, who turns out to be nice, and assume they are all nice. That would just be stupid. That doesn't mean we have to be jerks, but it does mean that we will continue to be cautious and err on the side of safety until we get to know them better. Or in other words, until they prove themselves to us. Then we can relax our defenses at least a little bit and try to get along.

Which other segment of the world's population is going around beheading people and blowing themselves up because of capitalism and NATO?

I doubt the method of killing matters much to the deceased.

We kill them in far greater numbers than they kill us. We do it with toys and gadgetry from a distance, they do it old school. They are the animals. Got it!

I would believe the idea of getting blown to bits for someone's message or having your head cut off and put on a you tube
vid would matter. Same as a heart attack at 7yrs old.

What, they can't afford uniforms and jet planes?

Bummer, sucks to be them.

You're entitled to those beliefs, but it is a greater risk to dismiss someone off-hand than learn the truth personally, through simple interaction. You can learn a great deal about someone with a two-minute conversation, and it has been long known that human interaction is a two-way street. Your methodology is folly.

The problem is I can't tell the difference....

The main problem I have is I don't NEED to have Muslim people in my life so why should I risk having them around me...

it is easier to avoid these people than take a risk that 1 in 5 or so of these people would like to kill me, rape me or enslave me for not believing in their Allah...

pho·bi·a (fō′bē-ə)
n.
1. A persistent, abnormal, and irrational fear of a specific thing or situation that compels one to avoid it, despite the awareness and reassurance that it is not dangerous.
2. A strong fear, dislike, or aversion.

Your OP is a perfect example of irrational fear, may i suggest professional help?
I mean that in every kind and caring way.
No one should be crippled by irrational fear, i know how it is because I' have struggled with anxiety.
Why is your fear irrational you may ask ? Because the chances of you getting harmed in the traffic, getting gunned down by a fellow American or struck by lightning are all way higher than getting killed by a radical muslim. Irrational fear.
You avoiding muslims in your life is kinda impossible aswell.
I bet that you at some point in your life have been around muslims without even knowing it. Have you ever thought of that ?
Majority of muslims look like you and me,there is no way you can profile them. Seek help,it will be an eye opener!

At the risk of getting into philosophy.

Well, since we can be killed by anything can you give some examples of a rational fear?

Was it rational for the Indians to fear the Europeans and not trust them?

I'm sorry for your loss, but they chose to do that, to engage in an unjust war.
It sucks.
This thread sucks as well, as it fans the flames of intolerance and stupidity.

No.
The problem is religious extremism.
IF your going to say one religion and it's followers are dangerous than this logic should be applied to all religions, not just Islam. It seems you've been successfully conditioned by the media to fear/dislike the entire Muslim population which is an illogical and unreasonable mindset to hold against all Muslims. I think it's more than acceptable though to despise the ideology itself.
Hate the game not the player.

However what I will say is there seems to be a bit of a double standard on ATS when in regards to making threads critiquing Islam and any of it's followers in a way that doesn't depict them in a "peaceful" light. Had you made this thread and exact statement instead towards Christians, I actually think you would have more people agreeing with your sentiment.

They were my battle buddies and good men, I am more sorry to their family's. I know you think the war was unjust, but you are making assumptions off of what you heard and these men were good men and not involved in the unjust, that's all I'm going to say on this specific subject.

I understand.
It was unjust, whether they were involved in the 'bad' or not.
A war based on lies can never be 'just'.

Yes, it's difficult to accept. Good people were lost all round.
War sucks. Bankers are wankers.

Its a targeting issue because a cult is hard to engage.
PROFILING is best for all muslims but hurting them is OUT until they become sufficient rifle targets to kill.
I don't want them eradicated at all, but assimilate to the world or there is a good chance someone is waiting to kill you if you are Muslim.

NOT really enjoying their pain myself.
