I don't totally agree with the group of people who think that minumum wages push business out or think this will drive out jobs however here in California it will. Businesses are already leaving the state along with many of its people due to host cost of living and running a business. California is not a business friendly state by any means and that's why companies keep going to Texas and Arizona.

www.buzzfeed.com...

California lawmakers have reached a tentative agreement to raise the state's minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2022, Governor Jerry Brown announced in Sacramento Monday.

I mean if your going to do it make it count at the very least. That will barely scale with inflation what a joke. Every month I love here everything cost more I don't know how people are doing it. I've literally watched the price of cheese go up a dollar in the last six months!

Many states are doing similar things. California isn't the only one.

I am buying stocks in wheel barrows!

You will need one to fill it with enough worthless currency to buy a loaf of bread......

True story.

My 2nd ex was a stripper. One night she came home all excited because one her marks gave her a currency from another country (thinking it was from Africa) and it was like 1,000,000 whatever the currency. I told her, "Don't get too excited! Let me look it up and find out the exchange rate on it.".

Boy was she pissed when I told her it was worth about $2.00 US!

They are installing kiosks as we speak in my local McDonalds.

Jobs will be lost. A job is worth what someone will pay you.

Not some number you decide is fair...

Kiosks? That's a sign these franchisees already know they will not be able to afford to pay their burger flippers $15.00/hr. Most people don't understand that it isn't the McDonalds corporation that owns these fast food places. It is small business people, franchisees, and after expenses, labor cost, insurance, and their franchise fees, most of these people only make around $50,000 off one location. That's why most own more than one. It is the small businesses it will hurt the most.

Sorry I don't want to live in a country where millions of people are living in poverty.

You like seeing people in poverty go to El Raqqa or Karachi and leave the US.

I don't want slaves working for me I want happy people enjoying their job with a decent home life providing me a service I appreciate.

Sick of the #ty attitude towards your fellow man. Go to Saudi Arabi.

Hey lets just kill all unnecessary humans and have a social technocratic ologicarchy where only people with "important" jobs get to live outside of the labor camps.

Sound familiar?

"The company is overhauling the way it does business, adding self-service kiosks and bringing table service and dedicated wait staff to its restaurants."

edmontonjournal.com...

Britain is apparently also getting some McDonald's with table service. The raised wages aren't hurting them. They're hiring in Canada.....

Not sure what that's doing to the "fast food" of McD.. Although you'll get to sit while waiting for it.

McDonald posts over a billion dollars in profit for 2015. Yeah, no money for paying a decent wage to workers.

Not sure what makes their "food" such a great meal.

This can cause problems for small business owners that are already just making ends meet now. However, being that it's going to be done over the course of about 5 years I think even they will be able to adjust for it. Hopefully anyway because I know some small business owners who were already worried about this happening. Hopefully there are some other breaks or something that will also go in to effect to help them offset some of the costs. We'll just have to wait and see how it works out.

None of us want to no matter how much you seem to think otherwise, but what we want and what the reality of the economy dictates are often two different things. I wanted a horse all while I was growing up and didn't want to live with a family that couldn't afford one, but that didn't change the economic reality that I never lived with a family that could.

If they lose money on a crappy business model then they need to learn how to invest their money more appropriately and not try to take advantage of people trying to eat.

Your living in a false paradigm of scarcity.

You think there's not enough when there's plenty.

It's concentrate into the hands of a few 100 people and everyone else is kept on the dark and locked out of the market.

Stop believing this illusion.

Let's see ... most of that plenty is sitting under land owned by the government.

Go look at the profit margins of all the major companies in the world they are astronomical.

Capitalism has been flawed from the beginning and will lead to socialism every time because the wealth will always work its way to the top.

You acquire more wealth your ability to acquire even more wealth increase. It's imbalanced and can't continue forever.

Sorry that you believe in it.

Man, California is gung-ho for automating the skill-less out of a job, ASAP!

Blows my mind people think raising the minimum wage is a solution to anything.

Eh even if this passes all the way, California wont fully have 15$ an hour implmented until 2022 it says right there in the article.

6 years from now. You could get a masters degree or become a master electrician in that time frame. Shoot for that californians!
