I do so enjoy watching Neo play devils advocate. I find it hard to believe he takes pride in the fact he has to pay for basic quality of life necessities.

Keep worshipping that golden cow bro, don't let the little humans get in the way of your Corporate Utopia.

I find it hard to believe that anyone else takes pride in expecting the supply of life's basic necessities by someone else (i.e. government handouts), creating a dependency on that someone else (in this case, government). That's what children do, not grown ups. And slaves. Slaves depend on someone else to keep them up, too.

Reading this I actually thought of the corporate water monopolies rather than government handouts. All human institutions are evil.

Corporate water monopoly? What kind of people do you live among who thought it was a good idea to give corporations control of THEIR water?

What a strange concept - this old world just keeps getting curiouser and curiouser!

In 2014 my husband was bit by a timber rattlesnake while working in the yard. The bill for 4 days in the hospital was $75,000. That didn't include the ER, the IV bag of anti venom, or the specialists called on his case. When we told family and close friends what that one bill was, they all said (almost verbatim), "Good thing you have insurance!" While that is true, consider this: My husband's insurance is through his company. We have a $5000 deductible, and after that the insurance company will pay 80 % of "allowable" charges. All well and good except for the fact that 20% of $75,000 is $15,000.00. That plus the $5000 is $20,000! That doesn't count everything else! We'll be paying off these bills for years.

It would've been cheaper just to let him die on the front lawn! And I would've gotten his life insurance! Of course I wouldn't have found another man who would put up with me. And besides, my kids would miss him.

The whole system sucks, IMHO.

Vitamin C doesn't cure snake bites. Stupidest thing I've ever read. Thanks for wishing me, my husband, and 3 kids into the poorhouse.

But if your husband only had a job and wasn't so lazy then that Rattlesnake in the yard would not have bit him! and you wouldn't have the 20k in bills!

that is the Republican answer to healthcare...

Again...ideology aside...Healthcare is untethered entirely from capitalistic mechanisms...

If education or how hard you worked is something that a rattle-snake considered before biting someone we could discuss healthcare as a capitalistic topic.

Healthcare providers and pharmaceutical companies are well aware of the complete absence of choice involved in disease and trauma...and in capitalistic context, that means they can charge whatever they like...no price elasticity...you don't negotiate with the EMT or wait for a better deal when you have a heart attack...or when you have just been bitten by a rattle snake.

Get an itemized bill from the hospital.............it will explain a lot about cost.

My uncle years ago was charged 125.00 dollars for a small package of Kleenex.

Lets see .........had to use ink out of a pen..........$5.00.

Sorry, I was pretending to be a sociopath.

I am sorry about your husband and the debt you have incurred. I think it would be much smarter if everyone is covered
by the same thing just like we all have access to the same emergency services, roads and critical infrastructure. Nobody makes you swipe a card when you call the police.

Our countries soul is corrupt and has been inflicted by a social disease.

Thank you for clearing that up- obviously you touched a raw nerve with me. The fact is that there are indeed people who believe that very thing.

Yes. Yes they do. They aren't defending the system at all. They are defending the profits with every ounce of their being. Those profits mean more to them than anything else in this world and they will fight tooth and nail to hold on to them. It is the wellspring from which they flow. They would like for you to believe that the United States has the best healthcare in the whole wide world, just so that you don't push back. They will state that your husband would be dead if you lived in Canada, due to a long wait or substandard care.

While many Americans vocally disliked Obamacare, many more are very happy with it and for them it was the number one issue in this election. I am one of those.

You lost me here. Who are the 'many more who are very happy' with Obamacare?

No!

I am in the highest tax-class and I DO not pay 60% of my income. Educate yourself.

And can someone explain to me how a health insurance could cost more than paying all of the expensive care for yourself? see OP.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars for treatment - and how much do you pay for health care? Even if that would sum up to a hundredthousand dollars, that would not be in a year or even 10 years, but summed up over decades! Which means that this would be a interest-free loan to the insurance, compared to a creditline of hundreds of thousands to pay NOW if you were not insured.

I would say that 58% is close enough to %60.

Thats a short sighted internal analogy far from the real issue and one of no global concern... when the rest of the world needs a break from childish American politics.

Trump challenges issues that preppers and middle class info geeks are still concerned with from the past 15 years not just America and its internal struggle against the elite families ... we already know yhe truth and he nay have a spin on it but we really dont care about that.. we just want them gone and on trial for it.. trial by fire...the job is too big to be making promises but hes genuinely making a mark on the criminals who run the show (US.Inc) and affect the western world with its ongoing capatalist disease JFK wanted soo much to end.

If the world could vote he would be already in because America is full of people who support the power structure and the intellectuals that support humanity are few or living somewhere else because who wants to live in a country built on lies and war full of generation after generation of self indulged individuals with the same clothes and haircut like its a uniform continuing to use an electoral system based on deciet where two parties are no different than the other in an overblown media build up financed by your tax dollars that have the same outcome each time... to protect the privately owned federal reserve system...

They have succeeded and there is only one thing left for them to do which is con the dumb people with the media... and whos media... Rupert Murdochs.

Trump is an actor using big money to get his message across and exciting people along the way but what is the message and what is the real agenda and outcome for humanity?

Its all too familiar and we don't really know our enemies.

Yes, you are right, in 2017 the biggest tax is coming to support the mammoth Obama crap, this will be at the expenses of the baby boomers SS and the elderly Medicare cuts.

People have not idea what is heading America thanks to Obamacrap.

Does anyone especially here in the ATS community REALLY think that this election hasn't been fully rigged to ensure that Hilary Clinton becomes the next president??

I've been watching it since the beginning and the entire system is being put in place to set her up in the office.
Surely others see this!?

What is so delusional about working towards systems that have been successfully implemented in other countries exactly?

If you're referring to countries like Denmark, then check out this book. Food for thought.

What happens if you get cancer?

What if I get hit by a bus tomorrow? If I dont get cancer can I have my money back? Then I will buy insurance.

When insurance is allowed to deny you for pre existing conditions, by the time you have cancer it is too late to get insurance.

Who do I vote for if I want to eat junk, be morbidly obese, smoke like a chimney, and sit on the couch all day?

Somehow it's become the 'Right' of every American to do this. Oh and have 8 kids who will all do the same.

I'd say our healthcare woes are linked to these untouchable issues as much as anything.
