Why do you keep telling people to own something they may very well not be a part of?

Because of a very simple tenet:

If you see something wrong going on, and you do nothing to stop it - you become part of the problem.

(lol!! That's actually Leviticus 5:1! "'If anyone sins because they do not speak up when they hear a public charge to testify regarding something they have seen or learned about, they will be held responsible.")

" All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."
-- Edmund Burke

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."
-- Dr Martin Luther King, Jr.

Any questions?

But you asked me to own it and I'm not even Christian.

I'm just trying to figure out what it is you're trying to get across. I'm all about stamping out terrorism where ever it arises and from whomever engages in it. But I am not going to own the crimes of others.

If you don't speak up about the atrocities going on, it doesn't make one damn bit of difference if you are "Christian" or not. I couldn't care less what your "religion" is, or isn't. WAR is wrong.
HOARDING of wealth is wrong.
Allowing poverty, homelessness, and abuse to happen is wrong.

My bumper sticker says: NO ONE IS FREE WHEN OTHERS ARE OPPRESSED.
Do you disagree with that?

What is happening right now is wrong.
Are you going to do anything, or say anything, to stop it?
Or, are you just going to bash people who are trying to do something???

The choice is yours.

And besides a bumper sticker, what have you done to address all of those things besides berate other for their inaction? Shouldn't you be too busy doing your part?

LOL!! I've been doing my part for upwards of 6 decades now. It's called "social work." Made a career of it; haven't stopped.

You?

I had a bumper sticker long, long ago that said:
Stay in School. Learn the System. Then Change the System.

My kids were preschoolers. They are now in their 20s.

That's called trying to have it both ways.

Your actually pushing a collectivist mentally and trying to pass it off as a personal 'choice'.

And after 'No one is free when others are oppressed'.

Since project is a free man why trying to OPPRESS him in to submission of your views ?

Well, scooter, it IS A PERSONAL CHOICE to decide to participate in the good of the many - of your own society.

And after 'No one is free when others are oppressed'.

Yeah - it's true....and??

Since project is a free man why trying to OPPRESS him in to submission of your views ?

How am I OPPRESSING him? Did I ban him? Stop trying to talk to him? Have him arrested?
No.
What have I done to shut him down?

NOTHING. No Thing. He is free as a bird to state his case - just as I am......if that case (his case) doesn't hold water, how is that on me?

Anyhoo - you and I have already been round and round about this -
so why are you even responding to anything I say?

So did I.
Real ones.

The American ones, snug and safe in their homes, that terrorize their kids.

EDIT FOR CLARITY:
I am NOT talking about pregnant parents who decide it is unsuitable for them to carry out an unwanted/unexpected pregnancy.
I am talking about parents who beat the crap out of their BORN CHILDREN - who fill their heads full of 'fire and brimstone' nonsense, etc. Or, alternatively, those who neglect, ignore, belittle, demean, shame, blame, condemn, torture, starve, and otherwise brutalize their own children (or the children of others).

Ya know, perhaps I am way-off in saying this, but it seems like doing what you described is considered "collectivist", "socialist" or perhaps even communist.

Last Sunday the same thing was taught in churches all across this country and it was called "doing the Christian thing".

Irony can be cold at times.

Sorry Star Trek was a movie. Enough with the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one.

The complete antithesisis of your bumper sticker.

Right?
Yeah.
That. Thanks for reading and responding. I really don't understand where the disconnect comes in for these folks. The message of "Jesus" was clear.

I'm actually very happy to hear that.

But terrorism has a specific definition.

As does child abuse.

.......

and - once again, utter failure at legitimate communication with you.

You make no sense.
But - to rebut directly:
Yes, Star Trek was a movie/show/franchise.
How that has anything to do with earthly existence at this moment is not apparent.

As for the 'bumper sticker' - I'm not surprised at all that you don't get it.

Not to butt-in on the conversation, but which would you say has more of an effect on our children?

Terrorism or child abuse?

Which is more likely to occur in the US?

A very important point. Let that sink in.

Sad day.
Members with views on the right might feel a lot less welcome on ATS today...knowing that ATS Management has taken this 'official' position.

I'm used to left-wing bias and partisan attacks from certain members here...and I'm okay with it; it's expected...
THIS is different to me.

It's different to a lot of us.

So much for denying ignorance.

What a statement for this website, when this sort of crap is what is see first when one enters! Shameful.

How so?
Did this used to be a right-wing partisan Bible-thumping site?

Huh. Must have been way before my time.
I thought we were here to discuss current events with intelligent discourse.
my bad?? o_O

Oh I get it.

No one is free while others are oppressed EXCEPT:

When it comes to bankers, rich people, corporations, ceo's, and GUN OWNERS for example.

Aka the 1%.

I get that EPIC cognitive dissonance.

And apparently contrary to ATS rules that should apply in the real word.

People are responsible for their OWN posts.

I am somehow responsible, Project is somehow responsible for the actions of someone else.

I get it,

And just flush it. To where it belongs.
