I seriously cannot wait until he announces he's taking your precious guns away. The threads with whinging, whining, crying redneck ATS members are going to be popcorn worthy.
And there isn't a thing anyone can do to stop him!

Can you explain in more detail as to why addressing the nation on a Sunday is rude? If you think it's because that is "God's Day", just remember that we have separation of church and state in America. Do you also feel that football on Sunday is rude? I mean those guys are working on the "Lord's Day" and we're just sittin' back and condoning it by watching. Just wondering what your reasoning is.

And Crazy, for all of those wonderful fluffy and inverted superlatives
explaining the exact opposite in Orwellan-- like the National Security
Enhancement Act of 2003, I was going to rifle the bore of Bess for
you free of charge.
It's almost the first axiom that every round that comes out the hole,
"YOU OWN IT." For that reason alone, the Chief Executive shouldn't
even have a hot mike later today. He broke my organic polygraph a
week after he first moved into Penn. Ave. Obama is a genetically
predispositioned totalitarian communist, I submit the nastiest flavor.

I don't whine, but this should be amusing to watch just for bragging
rights. Turning the people of America that own firearms immediately
into outlaws could be a real deal-breaker.

What I'd love to watch-- if it happens; is how many script writers end
up sedated in time-out rooms sporting canvas tuxedos trying to script
a sufficiently convincing position for him to write a totally illegal EO
again. Of course it won't float even a toy sloop, but in my old age a
quite guilty pleasure [is] watching barristers metaphorically blowing
significant portions of their extremities off.

Yes, my prediction is his appeal to take every single yank firearm in
the colonies will be met with a killer fog of Boston baked beans and
skunky Sam Adams (patriot AND brewer). For the trouble of messing
with Augie and yours truly's Sunday Night Football, call me Count Flatula.

I am not channeling Bill Cody, but none the less approved this barrel
of bison balls. It's my premonition and it's stickin' to my knickers.

A prepared statement.

He couldn't close Guantanamo, or evacuate Afghanistan…

Foooorwooord…

Guns, Homeland, borders and Syria, I mean Assad, I mean Isis…

Because there were too many guys showing up on Tuesday looking
hung over and with no alibi, the NFL pulled back to Christian Sabbath
Evening Football. "I got the cold from my kid Saturday"=duck the miniball.
And if nothing is sacred, maybe that's the reason Obama has scheduled the
rhetorically vacous jawflap for Sunday... quite appropriate if considered.

PS I haven't owned a TV since Immelt fired Olbermann... it's a long story.
edit on 6-12-2015 by derfreebie because: Mighty expensive comic relief. Maybe a Porterhouse, Joey...

Yep, it would sure be funny when the next president comes in and unilaterally bans gays, abortion, etc, using that precedent. Keep plenty of popcorn on hand.

1) That's never going to happen.
2) If he tried there'd be civil war, and most LEOs and military would not be on his side.
3) Try not to be so blatant with your ignorance of the vast diversity of people who own firearms in this country.

You forgot point #4, which is to be a bit more knowledgeable as to how the government works. If the president were to ban firearms through executive action, that would be blatantly unconstitutional, both in the context of the 2nd Amendment, but also because it violates the concept separation of powers. The consequences of such an overreach would extend far beyond this particular issue of gun rights.

Easy, Obama will announce that Russia has provided undeniable proof of collusion of ISIS and Turkey, Qatar and Sadi Arabia. At 7pm this evening he will submit a war deceleration against those parties. By 8pm war starts. By 7:55pm nukes are launched. ...... *shrugs*

Federal gun grab (moratorium on gun purchases going forward), now that they found out the terrorists in San Bernardino bought the four guns legally and passed background checks in California, which has the most restrictive gun laws of any state in the US.

So, many of you seem to be under the impression that the President can singularly demand you give over your guns by a given date.

WTH?

I believe that using Today for his address to the public is due to the fact that most Americans will be glue to their TVs watching our national pastime, Football, after all is the playoffs.

Interestingly I even dreamed of his speech but just the podium nothing else, that's how impacted I am on what he is going to say because is going to be about gun control.

Whatever it is, I hope it's less childish and nonsensical than most of what has been speculated on in this thread. SMH.

He can not without an amendment to the constitution, but is fun to talk about it, even if is just for fun, I wish he could try to do it using his executive power.

Oh yeah, like they say: "outlaw guns, and only the outlaws will have guns". Will never take guns away already in possession, but maybe have more restrictions on gun purchases in the future.

Not give up guns already purchased, but make it very difficult to buy a gun going forward (except on the black market, of course).
