I can't believe I'm stuck supporting Turkey in this....LMAO.

The Turk are supporting Isis? Ok. So is the U.S.. Kick them out of NATO! Oh, Ok, That doesn't work.

EVERYONE has bull# agendas in this mess. No exceptions.

The REAL reason for the upset with Turkey is FACING PUTIN. Deal with that fact.

I'm applying the same criteria to Turkey as I would with the U.S.. Russia is now the dominant power in the ME. with the S400s. Period. No line in the sand and this dominance will increase. Obviously.

Yet it's Turkey that were pissed off with?

Sorry. I'm with Turkey with this one. Back them. Restrict Russia to it's current role and let them know any further increases in military in the ME without NATO approval cancels any pact or agreement regarding military actions in the region,

A line in the sand or lose.

Chuck these loose cannons out of NATO!

Didn't they close the straits? There were threads…

Not closed they'll say.

Not NATO some say.

The hell. Just closed to Russian traffic. Those cargo ships from the black sea to Russian port of Tartus on the Syrian coast in the Eastern Mediterranean are vital to Russian efforts helping Syrians defeat the same damn Turkish (excuse me, NATO) sponsored terrorist insurgency in Syria.

I was wondering why the flurry of threads the last hour. Like the shoot down of the Russian plane , the revelation of Turkey buying Isis oil, this will also be swept under the rug in the main stream.

Must keep 800 lb gorilla in room quiet.

You should research the data before commenting. Turkey has given repeated warning to Russia re: airspace warnings.

Russia embargos Turkey ....Turkey responded. How dare they?

But if the report is true, a blockade is exactly what it is.
That is NOT an act of defense, so per Art.5 NOTO isn't
even supposed to be on the job yet.
I'm just a little worried about Turkey/Erdogan kicking enough
return sand in Putin's face so we'll all get pulled in to another
fight 'defending the real bully'.

Is it MY imagination or have world leaders either abruptly dropped IQ points or they are in league with a higher plan?
France has gone martial law.
England will no doubt be pushed as well.
WE have a leader who is ITCHING to do it.
WHAT a mess.

Turkey has a large, modern military but nothing big enough to take on Russia.
That's why NATO is so handy for them.
Like the little kid taunting another knowing he has a whole gang to back him up.
Turkey would be wise to not escalate anything with the Soviets.

Except Russia has a treaty with Syria to aid in their defense.
Like the US and South Vietnam/S. Korea/ Saudi Arabia/ etc.
Don't expect Putin to back down, he won't.
He'll call Turkey's hand and put them out.

A lot like Vietnam in many respects. Blockading Russian supply ships by mining Hi Phong harbor in North Vietnam. Anti air batteries set up to interdict the fighters and bombers interdicting North Vietnam supply lines to the south.

Air battles between Russian Migs and US combat aircraft over both North and South Vietnam.

A protracted, dirty little war for resources and territory, fought by the same two superpowers through their piss ant proxy minions.

Things in Syria and over it are that close to matching up with Vietnam… that close.

If I had to hazard a guess, I' d say the arms industry (factories for war) are rubbing their hands with glee right now. They are looking at the same sort of gravy train they had in Vietnam… as continous and as lo level as possible.

FFS. What the hell is Turkey thinking?

Poke the bear and get us all killed why don’t you?

Chuck these loose cannons out of NATO!

Of course ATS resident shill will be along soon to tell us we should all back Turkey to the bitter end even if it means all our deaths.......

As a British citizen and a resident of a NATO country, I'm with Russia on this. They aren't my enemy and are being provoked by Turkey. I hope Russia bombs them to the stone age and we do the right thing - tell Turkey they brought it on themselves.

Now there's a laugh. Listening to these comments proves Putin has already won.

The hang-wringing "Oh, dear...this might mean war"...Horrors. This from fairly conservative posters?

Screw you Putin...your move....

This wouldn't be the same ,our current generations couldn't deal with that kind of draft ,much less when they try to use women in front line jobs to get injured and slaughtered, trying to do what is done in war. Conventaionally we own I van THAT would bring out NBC WWDs if we started to win.
NATO 's spine is the US Turkey is acting the guy in a gang who talks alot but would get beat up if he actually tried to fight.
Russia is wounded and stretched thin.
I think we should sit this out until the Russians spend a little time getting hurt in the ME in THEIR push as we have.
I don't know WHO devised the destabilize and control plan originally for the middle east ,but such Cold War (1) mentality is failing us here.
We need to regroup our industry education FAST if we are going to survive.
The luxuries of a disposable economy should end and we'd best tighten up and dump oil too.

My sentiments exactly! The Russian threat is real. Turkey seems to think they have things well in hand, with or without NATO, but I don't think anybody has the luxury of sitting WWIII out, we need to unite our allies regardless of all the monkey business happening. There will be real consequences

I think they are rekindling it. The veterans and hippy generation are passing away, the younger generation don't remember the Vietnam war and how it played out, exactly like Syria is today.

There is a difference today, it isn't playing daily on the six o'clock news… the main stream media is an empty bag of complicit distraction. There won't result a million person march on Washington, this time. There won't be dead protestingstudents on University lawns like Kent State.

There is No JFK, RFK or MLK to appeal to the American people from the media pulpit.

There is just you and me, and we just disagree…

Well why don't you go live in Turkey then?

And let Russia have the ME! It's caused us nothing but grief and trouble so let Putin have it. Maybe it will distract him for the next half century.

Lose? I say handing over the ME to Russia is a win for us. Good riddance to those barbarians.

Putin has already invaded Ukraine .
Turks have been going into Iraq for a military incursion to chase terrorists and when done the soldiers comes back to Turkey . This is not new , it's been happening for a long time and there is no annexation of Iraqi territory .

Russian already have annexed Crimea and they also have plans to do same to most Eastern Europe.

For the small amount of time Russia was in their air space they could have escorted the plane out. I know Russia has invaded many NATO air spaces without incident, so it seems like Turkey had an underlying reason to shoot the plane down. Shooting a military plane down is bad enough, but to than shoot and kill the pilot instead of capturing him is overkill and dirty in my opinion. The plane can be replaced, but a human life can't.

The plane was not in Turkish airspace long enough to be escorted out. The plane had to be shot down or Russia would never respect Turkey. The pilot was shot by one of the human beings he had just bombed. Instant karma.
