The footage i saw on tv a few minutes ago of the plane
coming down definitely looked like a Russian fighter jet.. but I'm no expert .
Just the shape of it looked similar to the Russian jets.

If we assume that it is Russian.. this could get interesting very quickly!

Oh dear. Rumours surfacing that the jet was brought down by Turkish F16's and the jet was indeed Russian.

Thats the most likely scenario at this point..

The Turks are admitting they warned the plane.

Still this is a development that is most unwelcome.

France + Turkey = NATO. They would be on open comms I would assume. Probably another Russian jet.

A Turkish military official said Turkish F-16 fighter jets had shot down a warplane of unknown origin on Tuesday after it violated Turkish air space close to the Syrian border and ignored warnings.

If its reported is it still a rumour .

Turkey isn't doing itself any favours here.

It is not clear who shot it down? Turkey has. Maybe you want to edit that, the jet violated turkish airspace, downed by two f16s, apparently two parachutes were seen, suggesting the pilots are now somewhere in Syria.
How is it, do they get a taxi, or are they lost in enemy lands now?

Russia is not. They violated airspace and then refused to respond to warnings.

Slightly off-topic but this has me wondering about the boasted abilities of 5G fighters compared to the 4G workhorses like the F15/F16.

Needless to say, if it is indeed Russian, I don't think they will test the Turkish border anymore.

So what? It's pretty clear where the jet was headed given they are currently carpet bombing ISIS off the map. Downing a Russian jet near the Syrian border is essentially defending ISIS.

You can remain politically correct all you want.

Turkey is not doing itself any favours here.

Violating someone's airspace is not political correctness. If you think that's the same as talking about why Yoga is offensive then that is your mistake.

Do not violate airspace. When you do, do not ignore the fighters warning you and keep doing it. If you do, expect to be shot down.

Who the F is talking about yoga?

You (and clearly the Turkish military) need to look at the bigger picture and get..a..grip.

BBC News are confirming it was Russian.

This is going to inflame the situation, regardless of whether or not they were violating Turkish airspace, Russia is going to be pissed off.

Time to phone my parents and tell them not to be booking any holidays in Turkey for the foreseeable future.....

Let's hope those two Russian Fighter Pilots hit the eject button and can be returned or else Turkey and Nato might have WW III on thier hands soon.
