I don't see an issue with this, but I'm sure anyone enterprising could create an app (calling people to prayer) so no one would get upset.

Free expression means free expression for everyone.

Have you ever worked 'nights'? that is, you have to sleep during the day, muslims are called to prayers seven times a day, do you want to be woken seven times a day? I spent four years on 'nights', Iived in a quiet area, thankfully, but sleeping was still hit and miss on some days.

I have the same and very real problem with traditional English church bell ringing, should I approach my local council requesting a ban?

Yes. I've worked nights. I still believe in freedom of expression for everyone. Even if I don't get a good nights sleep.

Yeah let them blast this, but if you see a Christian quietly praying on a football field: go get your pitchforks.

Pitchforks? Why didn't anyone tell me we could bring pitchforks??? /sarc

A Christian (government employee) quietly praying (after a government-sponsored event) on a football field (that is the property of the government) is the government establishing a religion (and illegal); Muslim Americans (yes, citizens) issuing their traditional Call to Prayer (an integral part of their religious ritual) from their own mosques (private property) to other Muslims in the immediate area are not.

See the difference?

I see a much larger issue here. The issue that religion is voluntary and chosen freely here in the United States.

Christian bell churches or for the sake - any church related bell have been under heavy scrutiny in the United States not only because of the noise regulations but also due to the nature that church bells are indicating a call to a certain place of worship and faith in a very intrusive (loud) way. In a clear context, this could be considered as unsolicited advertisement which can be illegal under certain circumstances. Also there were quiet a few convictions including prison times for people "ringing" the bell in cities with noise ordinances. Your "religious" freedoms don't play a role here.

The funny thing is that these laws are changing based on city and are enforced on a very selective standard without scrutiny by the law. Especially if political correctness is playing a part, you won't have a chance. Actually in the end you might be the one that gets punished for being intolerant or potentially committing a "hate crime".

I find it hilarious that people go nuts now by cases like this one here. This is what you get with your "Political Correctness".

Fun times! /sarc

Would that regular Democratic communist political correctness or Republican political correctness?

If this was a case of some government agency promoting religion you might have a point. It's not.

So you have objection to people being called to pray to god?

Yes. that's not my God, they are praying to. And I am offended by their version of god, so I certainly don't want to be surrounded by calls to their god all day long. Their God thinks if people don't believe the koran then they are infidels and will go to hell or death. Islam is not just a religion, it is a political Idiology! People need to start saying this out loud! It is no different than Nazism. Please people, open your eyes. There may be moderate muslims, but there is a 20% and higher average of muslims that believe the world should be run under sharia law. That is huge and those people are the movers and shakers of their ideology.

So Americans don't have a right to pray to anything that isn't "your God" now?

"Your God" thinks that if people don't believe the Bible then they are infidels and will go to hell or death. (Rev. 20:15, et. al)

Christianity is not just a religion, but a political ideology. Christian Right

People do need to start saying these things out loud!

The Nazis were Christians too! (Nazism and Christian Heritage)

57% of Republicans want a Christian Theocracy (Source)

Thanks for bringing the dangers of some religions to our attention!

If a christian knocked on the door of a Muslim at 6 am in the morning isn't it the same as a loud speaker of the adhan entering my ears in my own home?

But is the call played at 6 AM??? And I'm going to ask for a source.

So your telling me a muslim cant excercise their faith without the adhan being blasted across town?

I'm telling you they have religious freedom - FREEDOM - just as all of us do. How they use that freedom is not for me to say. As long as it doesn't violate others' rights. Is it violating someone's rights?

Really! where in America are you allowed to blast anything at 6am without cops showing up, except around Mosque! Your not even a muslim why are you even defending this? Makes no sense!

Benevolent isn't a Muslim...
The lady is a staunch American who values the 1st Amendment of the COTUS...

Your ilk are the danger in U.S. society, someone who would trample on the COTUS to get their own way.

Don't deny it, you've spent nigh on 20 pages advocating for a COTUS trample-athon.

All I gotta say is, if you don't celebrate Christmas, or you find it offensive...

Then no Christmas Bonuses during the holidays and no days off.

Merry Christmas Hypo's.

Christmas isn't the only holiday celebrated during that time of year... Though to be honest, Christmas is just an appropriation of other cultures' winter solstice traditions.

Actually you don't hear about this crap except on the news. I bet you barely run across anyone seriously trying to dismantle Christmas in person. There is no war on Christmas. It is a strawman invented by Fox News (not even conservative media, Fox News invented this idiotic argument).

You'd be surprise in Canada, and how fast the charter of rights and freedom get thrown out the window. Yes, I get Fox News get ratings by this crap because it ain't real news. Hell, they complain about Kids worshipping Satan by going out on Halloween. They might as well crucify them for it.

But a woman at my mom work, supposedly had an incident, where a miniature X-mas Tree was on her desk, with Merry Christmas on it, had to get taken down, and she even used the argument it her believe. Also, another story about an X-mas party, where a big cake had to get thrown because it said Christmas.

Hell, I'm pretty sure I can get fired at my current employment for saying it, an I grew up with the word. I don't harbinge any hatred toward them, just hate them being pushy and so easily offended.

To take over from Gryph with the summary...

Happened 6-11 years ago...

Muslims complied and reduced the volume even though lawfully they had every right not to...

Christmas still exists worldwide...

*These have been evidenced numerous times in the thread*

We've also had testimony from a Michiganite, who has clarified the volume of the Adhan is not a problem at all...

The "Christians" here want a Theocracy and to trample all over the 1st Amendment of the COTUS...

*They just won't come out and say it because it's Creeping Christocratic Law...*

Or rather, Yahwehic Law which is far more dangerous...

I think everyone could live in a Christocratic Nation and be happy...
But Live & Let Live isn't on these people's minds... At all...

It's all dominance and oppression...
Power and suppression.

Note;
That's what the last 16 pages have entailed.

I kno...With baby Christ being the sales pitch.
I just hate the whole f'in issue and how out of hand it gets, I don't really celebrate it my self with any actual enthusiasm, and more or less just enjoy the lights during the bitter cold, and the days off.

But when there a possibility of me getting fired for it offensive, they can go f themselves.

If I was to compare the amount of Christian theocracies to Islamic theocracies, which would be the religion to most likely practice theocratic dominance and oppression throughout the world today?

If we're going to speak about dominance and oppression, when I compare Mecca to the Vatican—only one of which I, a non-believer, am allowed to visit—I only see one "holy land" that still publicly beheads sorcerers, adulterers and those who choose to leave their faith. How do they treat homosexuals in Mecca? And have you made your pilgrimage there yet?

Though I'm not a Christian, yes I am opposed to the Adhan leaking its nonsense into the very sound waves around us. Private property or not, sound doesn't stop at property lines.
