Nothing.

And about free will. The paradox is I cannot prove something that doesn't exist, but I can prove it cannot exist. because for me to be able to prove something would imply it exists. In this case it doesn't. So you're right on some level when you say I can't prove it.

Nothing.

So you just stop thinking or what? I hope your not associating self inquiry with meditation.

It is obvious that you don't want to accept "we don't know" for an answer.

Fill those gaps however you want. Others see that for what it is.

You are right, I cannot know something that does not exist.

I'm not.

So are you going to answer the question young boy? How does one do it?

You might want to read that again and try to understand what it actually means.

So are you going to answer the question young boy? How does one do it?

The question was if I was confusing it with meditation. I answered that.

If doing nothing doesn't answer your question then I can't help you. You should already know what that means.

Why can't you answer simple questions, what do you think self inquiry is and how did you personally do it? If you don't know then just admit it.
I know what it means but you don't it seems and I want to clarify that.

I did nothing. That is the simple answer to your simple question.

Personally for me it just happened. What else can I say?

ETA: You don't have the last word on the subject so stop acting like your opinion is any more important than anyone elses.

So if someone asked you what you have to do to solve a math equation, you say nothing?

Personally for me it just happened.

What is "it"?

It isn't, our opinions are equally important to the conversation.

Apples and oranges.

Nothing in this context means something specific.

What is "it"?

The realiziation that I am not my thoughts and the loss of importance that these had.

If you have completely disregarded that the self is an illusion and self inquiry is all about seeing beyond the illusion of self then you have nothing to do with self inquiry.
EDIT: This was written before I read your new reply.

So then the "self" you once thought is an illusion? The thought of being a separate self from experience that is.

Well, I have gotten beyond that point, so, sorry if I don't give it the same importance that you think it deserves.

Underwater petting zoo, lol. Sure time is a factor. But besides that, to me this "all is just happening" sounds like a cheap excuse.
While i admit one may not always get everything i want, it is ultimately my decission how much effort i put into achieving my goals. If i wouldn't be in charge, why bother trying?

Its an excuse to not TRY to be YOU individualized (otherwise the life experience is just pandering or skating through with as small a footprint as possible, effort; no gain as are dodging Karma. You recognize that effort is required to further individualize your soul.

So you realized that you are not your thoughts? I am not sure what that actually means, can you verify by simply answering these questions please:

Is it recognized that thoughts are not done by you?
Is it recognized that the thoughts that appear do not speak about you?
Is it recognized that they are not 'your' thoughts?

Become the best me i can be? Yes it takes a lot of effort, unfortunately i am lazy...
Just kidding. Who knows maybe it is some trauma that makes people dull, ie avoiding all participation and responsibility? Or the opposite, a classical wealthy westerners adaption of the indian caste system?
