Mods, please move if the wrong forum.

20 September my mother died and today I had to put down my 18 year old darling cat. The one I have known since he was 3 months old.

I am so devastated and hurting that I don't know how to continue living. I have another sweet cat and I also adopted my dead mother's birds. So I need to be strong for them, but I don't know how. I am still in the middle of clearing out her appartment, luckily a friend will help.

Another issue, not trivial, is the huge financial cost of having had my love cat at the emergency vet. 300 euro's and them 100 more for the injection. It's so hard that pets who are my everything are so costly. It's my pets who kept me going when things, my life, spiralled out of control.

Please include me in your prayers because I am at the brink of despair.

I'm so sorry!
I know those wounds too well.

There really is nothing that anyone can say to alleviate your pain.
It will never go away. It will always be there but we must learn, somehow, to live with it.

Our path has changed. The person we were before is no more. We are a different human now.
We must be stronger now. We must find new ways/people to communicate our thoughts and feelings.
We can no longer look over and talk/seek advice/ or just be with our loved ones.

It is difficult. I'm not sure it can be done either...
I am still journeying through...

I wish you luck and you have all of the support that I can generate over the net.

Good luck to you!
Godspeed!

Life seems to be only about surviving the blows you're being dealt and I don't know how to cope. Buddhism teaches to get detached and loving at the same time but that to me is a contradiction.

Always remember that God is Love and therefore God is always teaching and guiding you in The Way of Love. God will comfort you and your loved ones because that's what love does.

"Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love." - 1 John 4:7-8

A message of Love. I hope this gives you some Peace to bear through your sadness:

1 Corinthians 13 New International Version (NIV)

13 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

I know you will overcome the loneliness and pain because, "Love never fails". The Love of God and your loved ones are always with you, and will forever remain, because Love never fails.

Much Love and Joy

I'm so sorry to hear of your losses.
Thoughts and prayers headed your way.

I lost my dad in 2010, it's very hard, the pain never truly goes away but it does get easier with time. Just know that life wouldn't throw something as inevitable as death our way if there wasn't something better on the other side. They're both in a better place and you should feel happy for them.

This path between remaining detached yet concentrating on love can be so bittersweet. Our paths may not have passed as of yet here on ATS, but my heart goes out to you during your time of loss.
May you find light at the end of this journey of finding strength and please, keep faith in love and happiness.
I go without sometimes just to feed my dear kitties and can only be grateful to be their human, life is hard but nice people are always going to exist so keep strong.
Peace and comfort to you and may you always keep well.

My Mother

Look up to the sky
Now tell me what you see
A cloud, the moon, possibly the sun
Many answers there will be

When I look up to the sky
I'll tell you what I see
I see my mother
And she's looking back at me

She tells me she didn't want to leave us
But it was time for her to depart
It was the hardest thing she had to do
And it's breaking her heart

She tells me we mustn't be sad
Because finally she's pain free
She's found her place in heaven
Underneath a blossom tree

She'll always be there to guide us
When we feel we've lost the way
She'll always be there to comfort us
And wipe those tears away

She'll always be there to share our joy
And laugh at the jokes we make
In order to feel her presence
Only a little imagination it'll take

She may be in the form of a butterfly
Or simply a floating feather
Or hovering over like a busy bee
Or simply part of the weather

You've all come here to say your farewell
But for me it's not goodbye
If I want to see her, all I have to do
Is look up to the sky

Sweet dreams, Mam

How beautiful. I do believe in the afterlife but it's no consolation because it's two different worlds.

You have my prayer and I am sure your mother is watching over you now, be strong as I am certain that is what she would want you to be, your cat became part of you but remember all those years of love and that 18 is a great age for a cat, as for the Vetenarian, daylight robbery comes to mind I have never seen a poor animal doctor and indeed they often earn more than a human doctor but be strong, god closes one door and he always open's another just be ready to step through it, we can not take our own lives as to do so would mean we would not go to those whom we love and have lost maybe for a long time as it is forbidden, find the strength you know you have it inside you god bless and keep you safe.

Yeah, I know that feeling so well.

It doesn't really help, right now... But it does, eventually.

...and she's beyond all pain, and she's herself, again.

You hang in there, my friend. Need a shoulder, I'm a PM away.

Then why hang on to this life, that's the question I am struggling with. Not that I am suicidal.

I don't know if it helps but you made Randy cry. I literally have
tears streaming down my face. Where abouts are you OP approx?

Then why hang on to this life,

Because it's an adventure and sorrow is part of it. You are learning as
long as you are living.
