star wars has always been about the diversity of lifeforms in a multiverse of possibilities. the cantina scene in episode 4 makes that very clear. han's best friend is a big foot. c3po and r2d2 are sentient and have personalities. the all important jedi master is a 3ft tall lizard man.

My favorite part about the whole universe is:

The main character is actually going to end up being Rey not Finn. The girl, not the black guy who starts off as a storm trooper, but does not stay a storm trooper. But I am sure people will also complaint about that. Rey is going to be the new Luke, the new Jedi.

The empire hating aliens was thrown out with the expanded universe. I am not positive. But I think the leader of the new empire is going to be an alien.

In a way, it almost looks they are doing some riff off some of the video games. The ones with Revan.

I can already call this story. Rey is Han and Leia's daughter (strong with the force). Finn will tag along with Rey find a light saber (probably Luke's). Rey and Finn will find Luke be trained to use the force Yoda style. Finn and Rey will fall in love and the Empire will want Rey because of her bloodline being that of Vader. Rey will struggle with the darkside but the love of Finn will bring her to the light yadda yadda yadda

I'll watch for the nostalgia but I'm betting on a watered down story that has very little that impresses the older fans. I'm betting mostly younger people will like it but I'm hoping I'm wrong.

Rey is for sure the main character but I'm betting Finn has a major role in the sequels and Rey is the villain

It's a JJ Abrams film.

You can watch it with the sound on...or off. Wont make a difference.

May be blasphemy to say it but this Star Wars actually looks more promising than all of the Lucas movies, infinitely better than the prequels anyway. The fight choreography is gonna be insane. If you haven't seen the raid 2 check it out to see what kind of stuff they can do. I don't really care what colour the protagonists are as long as it's a decent film.

After the second three, I went back and watched the first three, original cuts with the same jaundiced eye ... It destroyed my childhood.

Hate to break it but i believe the premise of the movie does not include any Earthlings so our limited notion of skin type/colour or other Human racially motivated bullcrap is neither here nor there i imagine.
