The recent surge in attacks against Israelis....

An under-covered aspect to the current ME/Syrian adventurism is the jump in attacks against Israelis by 'Palestinians'.

Basically, this story targets women and young men as the demographic involved in the recent attacks. What the story misses is the deeper implications. First, is why now?

With a concentration of powers in Syria, including Russians, the timing seems perfect to open the door for military incursion by Iran, Syria and perhaps the Russians into the Palestinian arena.

Using the time proven tactics of women and young men, the media will later describe the young men as 'children', the PR machine against Israel and the West looks to be a merging with the Syrian debacle.

This is not some spontaneous series of events. Be they motivated by local Hamas/Palestinian/Hezbollah efforts or as an overall strategic move that includes the Russians is unkown, if at all occurring, the power-keg is expanding.

Israel has in place some co-operation/coalitions to ease the overall threat. Egypt is now a non-threat from the west now that the brotherhood is removed from power. A fairly long and benign relationship with Jordan and a new 'the enemy of my enemy' styled pact with Saudi Arabia seems workable.

Having said that, be this effort by the Palestinians a local effort or part of a larger 'option' by Russia and allies, the mess is now bigger and the potential for real trouble rises.

Seems Abbas might be fomenting some of this anger though lies. It would appear the Palestinian supposedly 'executed' by the Israelis is in fact alive.

Could be an explanation. The question is co-incidental or part of a larger effort?....

You are starting to see the next generation of young radicalised Palastinians and they are just trying their hand at something their past generation of terrorists didn't do. They're the young lions flexing their muscles.
But it aint a game and quite a few of them will be killed before they realise they can't win.

it's becoming tit for tat killings, the latest incident appears to be an attack on a Jewish shrine being burnt in the West Bank, elsewhere Israeli troops opened fire on a crowd killing several stone throwers.

Something like 37 Palestinians killed including activists, and 8 Israelis, in this October outbreak.

Israel needs to tread carefully here. Using kids, hospitals, women with kids in the cars charging check-points in Iraq...all are no win scenarios. Your guys get killed or you get destroyed in the media.

Another thought...unless Israel says enough is enough. Lets get this over with....

Besides, my concerns is this all getting further out of hand. There are now multiple nuclear powers involved. Not a good situation.

The recent surge in attacks are because someone besides the Israel influenced US of A is making a difference in Syria. Expect that the 'Greater Israel Project' is going to be shut down and a two party state is inevitable. Also expect that Golan Heights will be returned to it's legal and rightful owner, Syria.

I don't care who likes it nor do I have personal 'skin' in the game; I do know right from wrong though.

I thought I said that. Reuters actual report states;

"The worst outbreak in bloodshed in months has killed at least 37 Palestinians, including attackers and children in assaults and confrontations, and seven Israelis in stabbings and other attacks on buses and in the streets."
People may also have died in the shrine burning aftermath.

I hold the view that if one attacks a nation and subsequently loses, they can and should lose that territory. Especially when from those 'heights' one can see the other side of that pitifully small nation.

Guess we have different versions of right and wrong.

However, your view isn't germane to this thread as it's based on the potential of the situation. Not the right/wrong of either side.

As those debates are well covered elsewhere and we are unlikely to change our views on that one, it's what's down the road that is of concern.

Here's what you can "expect". Israel will never back down. They are the most stubborn SOBs in the known universe. So don't hold your breath....on the other hand....

There're no worthy resources in Israel. The only reason Russia'd invade is for an oil oligarchy. That's NO reason to start WWIII, especially for a diminishing and will be obsolete civilian resource.

There is one reason I can think of, and it doesn't necessarily need an Israeli confrontation to achieve it.

An escalation that has the 'potential' of further escalation into a nuclear scenario would drive up world oil prices overnight.

Theoretically, Putin could actually profit from an escalation...whether he starts it or not. (Just the Russian presence opens the door for vested interests to false flag, etc. from a multitude of nations.) If none occurs-he can then deny responsibility, blaming others for starting it- he then has the option to start something himself.

Not sure this is going to happen and don't want to be a fear monger....still...hope for best and plan for the worst....

You can a guy taking pictures of the kid. Nobody is even bothering to help. Everyone thought he was or soon to be dead, it seems.

If the kid didnt die, it is not murder but I think there is no defense against attemted murder.
