Of course, the Israelis are up to no good. Because it can't possibly be the USA up to no good, they've never perpetrated a false flag and everyone knows Putin is a stand up guy especially a paragon of truth when it comes to say, Ukraine.

It still was not designed to compete with the F-22. It falls in with the upgraded F-18's/16's/15's at that point.

Not designed to fight F-22s, but I'm guessing there was some consideration given when they upgraded the systems.
In a BVR situation it would have a hard time against the F-22, but close in I'm betting it can twist and turn quite well. Possibly not to thrust-vectoring limits, but not too shabby.
Against an F-15C/D it probably would fair very well.

F-22 with aim-120's will never be close enough to a SU to be threatened... The f-22 was not designed to dogfight per se, it was designed to lurk and kill miles away...

How is that even possible when it was designed in the 1980's?

The SM version didn't start until 2012 it is a fourth gen fighter. But the SU-30 line did start in the 80's.

Any of the Su-27 family will fare well against an Eagle. They were designed as counters to them from the start. The E/I is a horrible fighter because of the extra weight and drag. They would be best off getting low and running if against Su-30s.

Sit back and think about this one logically...at this point after all the rhetoric from the west about them don't you think intercepting some Israeli fighter/bombers attempting to ingress well into Syrian air space that it wouldn't be propagandized to hell and back. I mean come on...this would be all over RT and it would be so in your face that we would be hearing all kinds of news about it. Russia wouldn't just sit quiet on something like that.

Putin, can pound his chest in Syria, all he wants but by no means is he looking for a war against NATO..

If something escalates with Israel, I am not sure how that will fare out with Russia and USA relations..

The problem is the AIM-120 at long range isn't a great missile. The pilots and some of the leadership are screaming for a new long range missile. The AMRAAM is out ranged and out performed at extreme ranges.

If I were an Eagle driver and saw some Su-30s coming, I'd do just that. Get the flock out of there!

Wasn't the F-15 originally designed to intercept the MiG-25? That's a whole different type of fight. I know the F-15 is capable, but I think it's pushing it (especially racked for bombs) to go up against a Flanker.

those are radar aren't they? Obviously heat seekers are the best but I was under the impression the AIM, was one hell of a missile... Only way to find out is in real life I suppose...

Russia has the ability to destroy the entire world so perhaps you should put yourself in the shoe's of Putin and ask yourself, does US/NATO want war with Russia. The US forced economic sanctions was an act of war. And the Longer Putin waits, the worse Russia economy becomes. So what has he to loose. If I was him I'd even consider restarting nuclear testing. What has he to loose?

WW3 is becoming a stronger possibility day by day.

The Russia invasion of Ukraine was also an act of war. Since Russia is a permanent member of the UNSC they would just veto any resolutions calling them out or punishing them.

Russia is not the only country who has nuclear weapons so I'm not sure why people keep raising the nuclear card issue.


Russia restarting nuclear testing would violate a umber of treaties.

This story doesn`t sound believable to me, I think any unfriendly aircraft that violate Syrian airspace will be escorted out by a salvo of surface to air missiles.
I don`t think they will be playing around with unauthorized intruders, I think it will be shoot first ask questions later situation.

I just think had this really happened at the very least rt would have an official version and possibly even US media. It wouldn't be coming off a WordPress blog...

It was neither Russia or Israel who brought this News to Our attention it was Lebanon. It was lebanon who observed the event.
The F-15 flew along the coast of Lebanon towards Syria and the F-15 flew over lebanon on their way back.

Why Russia or Israel wont mention it ...... we can speculate all we want.

One of the reasons it doesnt make News might be because the F-15 turned away before they reached Syrian airspace.

The article on live leak said well into Syrian airspace or some such translation...the English looked weird but the meaning conveyed. I guess we will see soon enough right...
