There was too much friction in the world as US foreign policy created a vacuum among US allies. Donald Rumsfeld had a lot to do with this, some say he was a war monger just to buy time for the extensions. It was too sensitive of a time period for the government to come out and state they had been lieing about UFO's all along. The CIA, FBI, NSA & NRO resources were also burden by the US's new surveillance efforts in combating terrorism post 9/11.

You do know American astronauts are still going into space, right? This neat little thing called Soyuz.

There are multi levels of access to space, the Soyuz is pretty much the bottom of the barrel but proven to be a safe method of getting to and from space. The Columbia disaster really did-in the public space program, however we still need to bring Americans to and from the ISS. I know they are tinkering around with the now declassified X-40, but this is an unmanned craft, likely used to deliver payloads to ISS.

He's the one. First name Steven I think. I strongly believe his intentions were genuine to begin with but once he identified the potential revenue with fabricating documents he got greedy. His lectures are amazing until he tries to spice it up with explaining the science behind alien propulsion systems through consciousness. He tends to lose all credibility in the final third of all his seminars.

I know what you mean. I look up into the night sky, and I don't sense millions of worlds crawling with life. I just see vast darkness punctuated by sparkly stars, but nothing else out there. Could be that we're just a weird fluke. A batch of chemicals that has managed to become self-aware. And if self-awareness creates reality, then the farther we travel out into space away from everybody else, the more unreal things get.

Anyway, the people calling for "disclosure" will only accept it if it tells them what they already believe. The actual truth has nothing to do with it.

I mean surely if this guy has been doing hard disclosure for 20 years and there's all this soft disclosure going on, and you're obviously "in the know" you must be able to say something that's actually specific.

Why 2015? What is it now that puts the U.S. in such a better position than ten years ago to disclose anything?

Now personally I think if I was an alien race and I was coming to earth I'd look to make an agreement with the Chinese or Soviet Governments during the 1950s. Their societies made it much easier for people to go missing in the dark of the night and keep the secrets from their populations.

But no! They chose the nation of the free. Where Presidents and administrations come and go as frequently as every four years instead of totalitarian regimes where they don't and negotiations and stability would be a lot easier to manage.

Then all sorts of human looking aliens came down and started talking to mainly random people in remote areas about how we were destroying our planet and nuclear power was bad.

Eventually around the mid 70s, maybe early 80s, the little grey guys turn up (who can breathe our atmosphere and don't like wearing clothes, unless of course they are robots?). Oh no - you said they bleed like we do. Glad to see they are fully adapted to nakedness and survival in their Reign of Terra.

Sometime at the end of the last century they got fed up of abducting us, realized our medical technology was years ahead of their "Lowest Human Orifice Probe" and packed up and went back to.....

If I was an alien and wanted people to know I would go to america. Simply because they have a bigger influence on the world, Hollywood, money, large military etc etc. Also if you assume the first craft did crash land in america you have little choice.

Just a feeling. My other thought is that we aren't and will never be as a species smart enough to understand the complexity of reality. The only thing we can do is deal as best we can with what we're given and what we've got, and eventually die in befuddlement.

not everyone online can relate to aliens using faster than light travel, maybe some that have researched a lot about it but not all of us online
