I don't assume anything... hence the thread and my opening statement.

I'm curious as to whether or not this is even something African Americans would be interested in.

So let me rephrase. Would you ask this question of a white person?

From your question, it implies you believe you are proposing a solution you feel is reasonable and a possible alternative to a condition, you suspect, plagues all people you identify as black.

My response was asking you to separate yourself from the fantasy of YouTube, and see the world with your own eyes, mind, and heart.

The Brave New World is about agendas, control, enslavement, and greed. Don't allow yourself to be an easy victim. If you see or hear anything on the internet, before you accept one single word, vet the information for yourself. If they are going to use you as a nodal connection for dispersing their poison, at least be aware.

Everyone can't lead, but you can chose who you follow.

Because I'm specifically addressing African Americans and I'd like to know if I'm being told to apologize and go back to bed by an African American or just a typical progressive liberal thought cop.

Where would be a good place to put all the progressive liberals? With the black people? Or with the Hispanics? Decisions, decisions....

You seem to have your own stratification of the American demographic..... Just what America needs more divisiveness , partisanship, racism and bickering.

I wonder what YouTube has to say about that?

For the record, the issue is totally 'sensitive' and has been or centuries.

On the other hand, If we can't allow intelligent discussion on the subject of racism, then nothing ever gets resolved, so yeah, it requires airing more than any political BS we see daily. This issue is about people getting along and not about what party is responsible for what.

I cringed when I read that the idea of separating Americans (based on skin colour) is somehow 'Liberal Progressive'. That's absolute BS because parties change platforms every few decades.

The problem with discussing things without raising hackles is the lack of tact by some and the over-abundance of walking on eggshells by others. Either way of addressing racism will cause friction.

Personally speaking, I think racial division is a social construct based on tribalism. What used to be, and still is, our primitive nature to mistrust people we didn't know has become an institutionalized system by the very people that should have no say in the matter at all... politicians.

I'm thinking that if we raise hackles, then we might avoid killing each other later.

My God this is impossible.

I've planted my seeds, my work is done here.

The prime motivator for people to pull out their weaponry is anger.

What do you think 'raising hackles' signifies?

One reaps what one sows, Bone75.

I'm firmly against the ideas presented in the OP and think it will only lead to more trouble than what is ailing America at the moment.

I'd rather get angry discussing it than avoiding the issue and fomenting anger, resentment, etc.

Getting things out in the open is not something to avoid because of perceived butthurt.

I'm addressing the issue, as are others here.

What you're suggesting is getting people to say things which will provoke anger.

I'm not with that notion, that's all.

But, feel free to dissemble.

Not at all.

But can we dispense with the politically correct crap?

Some honest talk would be refreshing rather than the self-serving bilge that we currently see.

Here we go with politics again...

It's citizens agains citizens here and the only way to work through that is by another 100 years of discussing the issue in a positive way. Not going to disappear because of Charlie Manson's notions of a race war.

I agree with positive talk.

I think talking about the issue would inhibit further race war speculation.

I just wish it'd be a frank discussion and not glad-handing of the issue.

You know, if we can't be frank and talk about race, race issues, and are always trying to be "sensitive" to the issue, then we'll get absolutely nowhere.

We can talk about race and we can talk about issues. The problem arrives when you think the thoughts, loves, angers, fears, or hate shared with you by "a" black person, are the same for "all" black people.

Even this thread is a farce. The best the OP can hope for is a handful of black people to honestly answer the question about how they "feel" about the OP’s proposition. Regardless of the tally at the end of the day, it will give the OP no insight on how "all" black people feel.

It is difficult to have a conversation about anything when one’s personal opinion is going to be interpreted as the opinion of an entire race of people. I don’t think of ideas as white or black. Ideas come from personal experiences and none of us have the exact experiences, so why do people keep trying to lump all people and ideas into one basket?

Of course conversation about race always go south, because we are not really interested in what the other person has to say. We don't listen with an open mind and a clear heart. We listen for the triggers, the words we can use to convince ourselves what "we" think and "we" feel is right. One black person commits a crime, they all are thugs. One black person wins the Nobel Prize, he is a fluke, and oddity. We seek our validation were we know we will see and hear what we need to gives us cause and makes our bigotries valid.

If we truly accepted people as individuals and Americans, there would be no need for dialogue about race.

OK... here's a 'frank statement': no matter what the colour of your skin is, you have got to stop thinking it makes (or should make) any difference. Get over that hurdle and things will heal.

But it will take a century to do that because racism is institutionalized by the establishment, the governments and politicians the world over.

After a century, we will still not trust strangers... but that's instinctual in all humans and not related to politicians.

See?

Was that so hard?

I agree.

So... when any politician starts talking about fixing racism, either send him (or her) a frank message telling them to 'butt out' or just tune them out. That goes for all stripes of politicians.

They, the cretins, are responsible for the mess and will never get out from under that bridge.

When a politician starts on about fixing anything, I tend to politely stand up, leave the room, and run screaming down the street.

But if it's about racism, I get a little cranky.

I think filling in potholes with politicians is a brilliant idea.
