Thats ok, I was looking at films to watch, now Im not misogynistic. I support womens rights but seeing them being the main character in a film is all part of the "feminist agenda". So I skipped that film and watched Expendables 2 then smacked my woman for not making me the correct sandwich.

No wait, I got that wrong.

Thats ok, I was looking at films to watch, now Im not racist. I support equal rights on all fronts, but seeing a black person being the main character in a film part is corrupting our youth and creating thugs and POOR PEOPLE. So I skipped that film and watched .... errr...... white..girls? Then smacked my "room mate" who lives in the shed because he didnt do a full days work on the plantation.

No wait... thats wrong aswell.

I was watching films the other day, it had strong women, black people and gay people. I honestly cant remember what the film was or was about, that might be because of the "no sleep for 60 hours" thing and the work I put in to trying to relax didnt work... but meh.

I love it when people say "Im not homophobic" or "I support gay rights / marriage" then add a BUT. So your reason for not watching this couple pick a house on a generically bad TV show, its the gay agenda at work?

You do know that when gay people get married they tend to live together, SHOCK HORROR sometimes they BUY a house.

Now, my personal view on partners expressing "too much" lovin in public is - Gay, Straight, Asexual... please dont dry hump each other in public. Its just rude... mainly because you have the time to do it and I have to go buy nappies.

I would love for people in this world to get over themselves and their secret hate for other groups of people who do things differently.

So to all those people who say:

Im not homophobic but,
Im not sexist but,
Im not racist but.

Yes you are.

People need to take a more apathetic approach to how other people lives their lives. Unless one of these "agendas" is hammering on your door and forcing you to parade around with a flag against your will, just let it go. Life is too short to get hung up on things that really, really don't matter.

As in, "oh look Daddy is changing the channel and making a snide remark because of the gay people on TV - gay people must be bad", or "hmm, Mommy is going out of her way to avoid that gay couple walking on the sidewalk, there must be something wrong with them". That sort of thing.

Absolutely. People raise their children to have the same opinions that they do. Whether it's homophobic, religious, white supremacist or NO H8 and Coexist (as I would raise mine). People pass their beliefs and opinions onto their kids. The hope is that these kids will grow up, get influenced by the real world, and begin to see people through their OWN context instead of the one their parents were looking through. I did. I'm 180 degrees out from my parents.

I define 'gay behavior' as two people of the same sex displaying physical affection for each other. I also don't want to see heterosexual displays of physical affection in public.

Thanks for answering.

So, if I understand you, it's not actually "gay behavior" (whatever that is) that offends you, it's public physical affection (between anyone). You wouldn't want to be around my husband and I. We hold hands, kiss (peck) and smile meaningfully at each other.

People pass their beliefs and opinions onto their kids.

I will not deny that they can.
I must have done something right to not influence political and social leanings.... because my 19 and 21 year old daughters are very different from me in their thinking about such things (not exactly 180 degrees, but very different). It isn't that they have changed their thinking in being away from me(at college), they have had their ways set for a few years now.
I believe in letting children learn and make their own decisions about things like that. I still have my two younger ones under my wing (10 and 12 y/o) and if I switch channels because of some social thing, I won't remark that I am switching it because 'that is gay stuff'. I will just say that I don't like that show. If they try to sift out why I don't like a certain TV show, they will have a tough time of it.... because I dislike most of them.

I really don't understand your attitude. I am thrilled when people still support my gun rights even when they don't like guns. I support lots of rights I don't agree with including gay marriage, abortion and the legalization of pot. As I stated in my original post I don't dislike people, but that doesn't mean I want to watch their behavior that I disagree with on my own time.

I think the word homophobic is a misnomer, however, I never said I wasn't against homosexuality itself. I also don't like to see mixed race couples, but that is how I feel and I don't let it affect my interactions with people or how I view their rights to pursue their own happiness.

You are never going to have people like everything you do. I am sure you don't like my opinions on homosexuality, but I would still be happy to meet you and have a beer. Everyone engages in some sort of immoral behavior by someones standards. I am simply saying it is none of my business, but I am not going to pretend to like it and watch things that feature behavior I find offensive.

Good for you. Personal choice. And you didn't have to watch a man and women holding hands, kissing, or hugging.

I also and happy Gay people can get married. But I am only half way homophobic in what I want to watch. Seeing men kissing men is yuk, but women kissing women is hot. Does that make me a bad person?

I applaud you. It's not the kind of thing which should be on TV IMO. it's not 'right' and its not 'normal'. I still don't see why the Media keep projecting as such..

I also stopped watching 'Super 8' for the same reasons..

I fully understand your point Metallicus, the new Ghostbusters made me feel the same. If it was an entirely new ghost movie with an all female cast I wouldn't mind, but the obvious agenda behind changing genders turned me off.

One thing that bothers me is when people act like every public appearance a gay person makes is an agenda. Believe it or not, some gays are talented enough to get themselves into the spotlight, they dreamed of it their entire lives just like straight people. Some gay singers and actors just want to sing and act, they didn't get into acting to brainwash people.

So.. if you were 'Straight' and had children... you wouldn't mind them watching 'gay' sex on their screens?

Do you see how demented and wierd that makes you sound?

Do you think projecting those images into one's mind is healthy?

Seriously... you need to sort yourself out.

Only if they are old enough to understand what they are looking at.

Why? Because YOU don't like it?

No worse than projecting images of heterosexual sex into one's mind. It's just sex.

Seriously... you need to sort yourself out.

With all the Hand-held technology and Ipads and phones Kids can watch porn anywhere, what kind they watch is not going to be because i let them or not,or better put, if i was Straight and my child was Gay and watched Gay porn it wouldn't be because i forced them too

what is your point?

Im pretty sure thats a hate crime. They're going to make you go for re education.
Tolerance means you have to watch everything endorsing whatever you disagree with

And that, is exactly the fear-driven paranoia of anti-Americans. True Americans have whatever opinion they want, they simply don't have to resort to North Korean-style crushing of others' rights to freedom in order to maintain their opinions. Those who do, are sleeping the collective face of every man and woman throughout history who died or risked lives and fortunes for this country.

Kudos to you, OP, for not being an anti-American sissy, and for having the (intestinal fortitude) to have your own opinions despite the government not forcing your own personal utopia.
