I did watch it though

No, i don't think it makes you hateful, or anyone hateful for not liking things. to be honest it's when "Gay Agenda" gets tossed around and "Gay Behavior" as a reason, is when i question it because what is that?

It's also when you put it in other context

I wont watch a show because of Gay Characters

I wont watch a show because of Black Characters

doesn't one sound racist?

now i am not accusing anyone of being Racist,or Bigot or homophobic, just using an example.

I watch things with Straight characters, the "Straight Agenda" is shoved down my throat daily, but i don't use that as a reason to not like things... if that makes sense?

but again, yeah personal taste is personal taste... i'm not offended and i don't think people should be offended if you don't want to watch something that doesn't interest you

What reason does a person give for not liking the taste of broccoli? Or the texture of mashed potatoes? I feel as if we are turning a corner where we must like what we are told to like, or risk being an outcast at the least, or maybe even criminal.

As far as having something shoved down one's throat, no laws as yet forces anyone to watch certain shows.

That could happen though.

Not the broccoli agenda...

saying you don't like something because it doesn't interest you, or you don't like a food because of the taste is one thing, i question when someone starts throwing around the "Gay Agenda" and "Gay Behavior" as the only reason for not watching something

"The Gay Agenda" means "They're trying to make us all gay"

I just don't feel like being criminalized for not liking something.
If I don't like broccoli, it doesn't mean that I think it should be banned.... just that I shouldn't be forced to eat it.
As it is, I can switch channels on the TV, but some still want to call me out because of that.
Do you say that I can't be turned off by too much gay behavior on a TV show? That I am simply using that as an excuse? I don't need an excuse.... it turns me off.
The broccoli analogy is apt. I do not use religion to excuse for my dislike of a particular food and I do not use religion as an excuse for my dislike of male homosexuality.

im as cool with the LGBT community as it gets....and i get overwhelmed by "overly gay". Hell, my gay son gets annoyed with it from time to time. He says it makes him feel pandered to, and he doesn't want that.

Yes.
It is just a personal taste issue as far as I am concerned. I don't discriminate or condone discrimination in issues of race or sexuality. But don't make me out to be a bad guy if I dislike certain things and decide to not watch a TV show that is unenjoyable or uncomfortable for me to watch.

Who is criminalizing you or anyone for not watching Television? also who is forcing you too watch anything?

i don't understand this paranoia in claiming that people are "Forcing" you to do anything like that.. i don't think any "Group" is calling out all the straight people for switching the Channel

I sure feel like I am defending myself against your posts here.

Oh no, the broccoli agenda.

I think some people feel that if I don't pretend to love them, then I must hate them. That isn't the case. I am just honest.

What are you talking about?

you don't have to defend anything because no one is attacking you...

in the original post

I love the show House Hunters (I am in to real estate investing) so I selected the next one on the list. It was focusing on a gay male couple so I deleted that episode and started the next one which was a normal heterosexual couple.

That is what i was talking about.. he has an interest in the show and real estate investing, but he only deleted it because it was a Gay couple... am i offended? No, should i be? No.. but what if we replaced Gay couple with Black Couple.. it sounds Racist right?

i don't care what people watch or don't watch, or eat broccoli or not. all i was saying is that i question when they only reason is because the "Gay Agenda" or "Gay Behavior" is tossed around

Read your posts to me in the thread. I have been quite clear about where I stand and you say you are OK with that, but you keep being adversarial with me.
Why?

You are acting as if you are getting attacked for not wanting to watch something, or not wanting to eat broccoli. as if there is some group that is forcing you (or going to) force you into only watching Programs with Gay Characters.

if you read my post, my only point was that i question this "Gay Agenda" and "Gay Behavior" as the only reason not to watch a show

I don't think i could believe you are a "bad guy" after interacting with you here for the last few years.
So don't sweat that....your volume of history speaks.

Sometimes I view it more like, "This person is challenging my thinking". And I enjoy that. One of the most important "tips" i can give to a business person (or any employee) is to challenge convetional wisdom. It builds character, and allows you to think through to a more complete outlook. You just need to put aside the notion of "agreeing" and "disagreeing".

But like you...im not a fan of cats. So we can at least agree on that.

It's not the fact that there are gay people on TV or even gay characters. It's when they are over the top stereotypes that I start getting annoyed with it and start getting turned off.

Well - here:

Well, like i said it's not the Stereotype it's how they cast it... i would love to see a Character that i can relate to, like me, that is not cast as the "Comedic Best Friend" or the Cheesy one-liners etc.. because there are people like that, and like me who are effeminate and flamboyant that have depth and layers.. even Genderfluid Characters and Drag Queens that are not just "Camp" and "Funny"

This sums it up. Casting a stereotype instead of a character....it is a disservice to anyone being stereotyped. like the obese person who only wants to eat ("Cakes and pies, cakes and pies....")

Hey Metallicus - What's "gay behavior"? And how does it differ from "straight behavior"?

I apologize for not revisiting my thread earlier. It has been a long day.

I define 'gay behavior' as two people of the same sex displaying physical affection for each other. I also don't want to see heterosexual displays of physical affection in public.

It reminds me of a show that my daughter and her friends watch called 'The Batchelorette' where this woman is running around kissing different guys every episode. I am just as put off by promiscuous heterosexual behavior.

I have a lesbian couple on the softball team I coach. They have never mentioned their relationship directly to me nor do they display any outward signs of affection for each other during games or practice. They are amazing young ladies and I have a great relationship with them. I don't treat them any differently than any of the other girls on the team. There is no issue with their relationship.

Now if they started making out in the club house or making unwanted advances on other players then there would be a problem, but I would have the same issue if one of the boyfriend's of one of the other girls tried to do that during the game. It is about distraction, respect and knowing the time and place for that kind of thing.

I see no problem at all making a decision to not watch something you're not into. Personally, I get tired of having any agenda, sublimely or blatantly, constantly in my face. I find it extremely annoying. Religion, racial equality, immigration, gay, war, are all current agendas that I can do without. It's not just about awareness anymore. Groups tend to provoke others for self-seeking purposes, and if you disagree with them, they single you out as a hater. It's BS and that's where it tends to cross the line for me. I should have the right to dislike something without being prosecuted for having a personal opinion on said subject.
