I would rather feed the human to a domesticated animal then eat the animal.

Pigs will eat a human no problem so I'll be eating chops, sausage and bacon while everyone else is chomping down on the neighbor.

I would also polish up on my edible mushroom knowledge. They grow overnight and can keep you alive also.

of course i would rather do that too.

im talking about a situation where there are no, or very little domestic animals.
where you might go days without running across a bird or rabbit or something.

like last resort, eat people or eat dirt

Dude, you could always eat sand like this Indian woman says she did for 80 freaking years, kilo a day,no food.-doctors are amazed apparently..
www.dailymail.co.uk...

Plenty of sand about, and thinking about it-it probably does contain some level of nutrients, being made of dead stuff.

Good to know. I'll set up my hunting spot by the mushroom patch.

Give a man a mushroom and he eats for a meal. Give a man a mushroom hunter and he eats for a week

Well then there is worms if dirt is a choice.

I know what your saying and yea if I was starving and also watching my children wasting away the next person that comes around would most likely be on the menu.

Many people don't think they would but these are the same people who have never experienced anything like starvation. The animal would come out and everything would become fair game just to survive.

Why not eat the bullet?
All food including human meat is going to be toxic in a worst case scenario within a few months and instead of suffering just eat a bullet.

The Earth has been hit by all manner of calamity throughout the aeons.

Massive die offs due to this and that are common in the geological and archaeological record, which means, somewhere, sometime, our own ancestors were faced with a dilemma exactly like this...they obviously chose to survive over any morality or squeamish issues, or else we wouldn't be here talking about it now.

Sometimes, all that matters is to survive.

As long as you don't consume the brain or meninges, you'll be fine.

That's got to be why the 'predator' alien in those movies always ripped out the skull and vertebrae from the victims...makes perfect sense now.

Yeah, I'm interested in seeing what TheLieWeLive would do without his/her smug position feeding humans to his/her pigs.
What's the plan with no domestic/wild animals, fish or other seafood to eat?

...as I said, human for me if I had to, but hunting one for food like game? I'm not so sure as I've never been that hungry, but if there were no other options in a lawless apocolypse, yep, strangers first though.

So in cooking human 101 the first step is to remove and discard the head (unless you need a soup bowl).

I did learn something today after all.

If it's to survive the year then most survivalists would have no problem because they would have stored enough supplies to feed their own for that long.

Plan ahead and you won't have to eat humans.

You're a good sport! I'm glad you can take a joke because you never know on here and I'm a smart ass so I can't help it sometimes.

I may have came off as smug because of that.

The tribes of Papua new Guinea suffered from a disease called 'Kuru' a form of Transmissible spongiform encepholopathy which is linked to ritual cannabalism, where the brain of the desceased was eaten. Mad Cow disease is the same thing-where cows were being fed ground up 'nutrients' those nutrients being the brain and spinal fluids of deceased animals.

Truthfully I hope I run into some of the people here on ATS if it ever gets that bad. There are some really intelligent folks here that if we all got together we would figure it out and survive.
If I tried eating mushrooms now, with my current knowledge, I would either be really wacked out high or dead within a week.

You don't say if you would murder the people or eat those already dead?

Personally I think meat eaters should consider all of the meat equal, but if you feel so special as to take the life away from another person or their loved ones to save your own I would wish you dead.

Personally I know we all die and as I remember two previous lives in detail and one other a bit, I know it makes a difference what we do. I would die rather then eat people to get another short bit of this life.

In all seriousness i reckon we'd stand a better chance together too.

There's be a few bad apples of course, who'd have to be identified early on and weeded out, but generally, i agree with the broad cross section of practical knowledge a lot of people have here, we'd probably do better than most.

Here's hoping we'd never have to find out eh.
