Jefferson Airplane - Four Dead in Ohio
No.

Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower
Written by Bob Dylan. Do you know what the song is about?

I could keep going on if you wish.
Ok.

This thread is a total example how liberal this forum has become.
/sarcasm

Can't believe people still have the audacity to claim that this site is over ran by liberals and how conservative views are not welcome here ect ect.

The desperation is increasing.

I bet Charlie is laughing himself into a frenzy by now.

Has the White House issued any comments yet?

Barry doesn't care about the letter, he gets thousands a day.
Doubt there will be a statement, and it doesn't warrant one.

Not sure who is getting desperate here either.

Is frenzied laughter a good thing?

About an open letter? Why would they?

I f ROnald regan was alive and president HE would had flattenned Iran with that evidence. Remember this was a guy who bombed Quadafis house for just shooting his mouth off.

And yet we're worried about Iran being aggressive?

Obama probably gets 50 of these letters a day from disgruntled republicans who parrot Hannity and other talking heads riling up the conservative base. It's not like they haven't been doing it non stop for the past 8 years.

When I saw the pic for the YouTube video I was sure I knew who he was, he sung some comedy song about a gator and a swamp and a battle...but nope, after listening its definitely not the guy I'm thinking of. I will give him one thing, it's no Fleetwood Mac but it's easy to tell from just this single song A. The guy can sing B. Now THATS good music C. The band sounds wonderful as a whole so I guess his behavior is off putting IMHO but I can't knock him as a musician at all. Now just gotta figure that down in Mississippi or new Orleans funny song singer...and who the he'll is Clarence's Clean Water Festival? Nah Nah Nah, I'll look em up myself. You already scored points for getting me into the Charlie loop. Honestly, thanks for real. Good music albeit sung by a strange man

Yes Mr. Daniels. President Obama will work on your suggestions as soon as you have a hit record once again.

Crystal Gayle is cherokee?Neat. Used to bump into her from time to time in the Phoenix area. More interesting though, Dolly Parton is too? Wow, and talk about white advantages...Dolly parton grew up in a mountain cabin with outhouse and no or limited electricity and had to hunt food when her family was broke. She had no leg up and single handed built up a near billion dollar empire, 700 million at one point I think. Thirty albums. 3-400 songs sold to other artists. And no matter how old she gets I could YouTube her all day she's a hoot and a prime example of when a person is called an American treasure. I was just watching a video of her on Ellen or something and she was talking about last year she and her friends passed a gay bar with a drag contest for Dolly look a likes. Tons of people showed up, she didn't even place. She had to stop the music and tell everyone" hello, it's me dolly parton" and explain her friends dared her to enter. But her voice...it's one of those voices you don't see anymore with such a unique personality and sound to it that she's one of the handfuls of artists you can identify with a single word sung. Really what happened to the one of a kind voices this country used to enjoy. Anyway thanks for that tidbit of info.

Guys, you need to get out of the categories.

You need to stop labeling yourselves and others as right/left or liberal/conservative.

Nothing is black or white and you're limiting your arguments and pre-determining your views before you have had time to think about them.

The thread is a perfect example of why TPTB or Obama love letters like this - it enforces the gap between people and pushes us further apart.

Keep up the good work human race - you're almost at the finish line.

You DO know that people's politics change right? I'm sure CD is still very pro-marijuana, but looking at his letter to GW jr posted in the thread, his anti-war position appears to have changed.

I say that as a DEEP respecter of his music. I happen to like his music, but I, of course, separate my taste in music from the artist's opinions and politics. Music is what a musician does best, thus that is all I care about coming from them.

This is the song you are most likely to know Charlie Daniels by:

The man is a phenomenal fiddle player. There is no arguing with that.

Yes, that was my point, that while a celebrity is endorsing some type of politics, those who agree with that celebrity will celebrate them, but when they change their political stance, those same people act like they have no clue about the celebrity.

I was merely showing that Charlie Daniels isn't just a Republican redneck ignorant about politics, as he was showing his political views since the 1970s. Endorsing politics isn't something reserved for one side, but it seems when a celebrity says what people want to hear, they vote for a public official, but when the celebrity says something on the other side of the fence, they get lambasted.

Matt Damon's automated voice called my phone to tell me to vote for Obama in 2007, but now that he is not impressed, he said that he was let down by Obama, it's like the same people who listened before are not interested now.

Celebrity endorsement of politicians are nothing new, Frank Sinatra voted for Kennedy and let people know about it. And then when the celebrities began to denounce Johnson, those same people are forgotten, then when they really denounced Nixon, everyone was cheering for that, but then when a celebrity that has spent time speaking about politics from the time of Kennedy to now, they are called rednecks even though they are simply saying the same things about presidents, it's only that people don't want this president to spoken against.

Maybe all of those celebrities should not have involved themselves in politics when Kennedy was president, that way we don't have to listen to them? Suppose?

Charlie Daniels wasn't called redneck and ignorant in the 1970s, but some of the people on here think this is the guy's first rodeo.

I know about all of this and like I said, the only thing I care about coming from a musician, is his or her music. Being famous doesn't mean I should care about your opinions.

As for what Charlie is and isn't. Again I don't care. I just want to listen to his music, and maybe try to reproduce it on my Mandolin.

uhmm...why would the white house care about what a old country singer has to say. CD got to where he is because of his ability to play music well enough so people would buy it, that's it. a car mechanic in Utah, or a plumber in Arkansas has the same credibility...and yet, here on ATS he is the spokesmen for the political right

He should run for president.

Chances are a lot more people would vote for him than many of the other candidates... Jeb Bush included (now).
