I don't know anything about him but this says he is a person who takes risks even with a little baby. Traveling to Nashville in a broken down old car and a no money with a baby says a few things about a person I think.

On April 13, 1967 I arrived in Nashville, Tennessee with a wife, a two-year-old baby, a twenty-dollar bill and the clutch out of my car.

Not really.

Those were the Hippie years.

And back in those days it was easy to find a place to crash because of all the peace and love attitude of the hippies.

CD is a guy who rednecks love.
It's good for his business.
He may know things I do not know, but this letter indicates he is much more ignorant than me about which he writes here.

I'llbombya is not one of my favorites by ANY means. Yet his perspective, while eroded by his corpserate orientation, is at least aligned with some facts.
I am not going to list them because those little fear capsules, which neo-cons and their ilk call their brains, fail to capture facts, logic or nuance. They work better with the shorthand technique of beliefs, opinions, factoids, traditions, stereotypes and producing quotes from scientific treatises such as the bible.

People who have no real conscience or empathy, you know, children, make errors because they lack the faculties to do judgement calls. That they, perhaps due to circumstances, may mature into the loathsome creatures that prowl and pounce on every opportunity, could possibly not be THEIR fault. It does not exonerate them when they remain able and willing promoters of idiocies.
This does not make CD or his affiliated 'conservatives' any more than meat robots which consume and dispose wherever they will. Pollution-Kill the EPA. Poor going hungry-tighten their belts for them. SS/Medicare/Medicaid toss it into the profit heap or kill it altogether. 91% of teachers use personal funds to help kids but bitch about their unions. They are only capable of two themes.

Where is mine?
I want yours!

The significant difference from we 'liberals' and those 'conservatives' is that we are willing to let the government rip us off because we can actually, or at least USED to, change it. We can elect those who serve our purposes. When the decisions are made in boardrooms, we are indeed the mushrooms. The fact that those scum have infiltrated our public institutions was at the invitation of, at least initially, the Repulsicans. When the campaigns became irrationally expensive the Demoncrats lined up at the same troughs.

The problem with morons is that they are always a difficult group to get up to speed. When you read this drivel from CD, you can tell he is sincere. So is the guy who tells me that I should fear god. Doesn't make me respect either one because they are talking out of their butt. The sincerity does not improve the smell or residuals but does increase the blast radius.

I have taken the time over the years to read both sides of most issues and have decided that the conservative perspective is perverse. It does little to serve the genuine needs of the VAST majority of citizenry. They have a certain meanness, obtained from Survival Bias and ill-founded certitudes. Essentially they are externally confirmed to having lunacy linchpins to little content and many unsubstantiated feelings. Gut Instinct and Common Sense are rivets in their hull as they face the Seas of Change.

Their rickety scow won't sink because of their efforts but it will eventually rust away and they will have a little impact in the long term which is proper. They are the Charlie Mansons of politics. Lots of War, blood, and nothing good comes out of it. The Rebel Flags of defeat will crown their achievements. YOU KNOW, LIKE GUNS FOR TEACHERS.

Because by their 'beliefs' that is another sane thing to do.

Only because you choose to be continually blinkered to the fact that the USA has probably sponsored more acts of aggression in more countries around the world than Iran ever has since WW2 - including helping in subverting the democratically elected goverment of Iran in the 1950's, causing a coup and replacing it with the pro-US/pro-US Oil interests Shah and then getting pissy about it when the Iranians overthrew the Shah with their 1979 revolution and subsequently sponsoring Iraq to then go to war with Iran.

If you take the time to look at the person's CV who wrote that essay, you will discover that his agenda might parallel yours.

Since my agenda is finding out what I need to know to evaluate what I'm learning, this is what I found:

www.brookings.edu...

This shows where Brookings gets the money and what is shown as their bulwark of work- Corpserate expansion.

Byman was sitting on the 9/11 Commission and the Council of Foreign Relations and has extensive publications.

en.wikipedia.org...

Lifted from Wiki- "Byman's publications include the books A High Price:The Triumphs and Failures of Israeli Counterterrorism, The Five Front War: A Better Way to Fight Global Jihad, Things Fall Apart: Containing the Spillover From an Iraqi Civil War, Keeping the Peace: Lasting Solutions to Ethnic Conflicts, and Deadly Connections: States That Sponsor Terrorism.[3] Dr. Byman has written extensively on a range of topics related to terrorism, international security, civil and ethnic conflict, and the Middle East. He is a frequent contributor to Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy and The Washington Post, and his work has appeared in a range of scholarly and policy journals."

So you wave a paper from a noted and long term supporter of Is-it-real, a guy who would be recognized as a lying sack HERE ON THIS FORUM, due to his TWO appearances supporting the 9/11 conclusions, and expect a sudden collapse in thinking that CD is a chucklehead?
Bynam was in the CIA when all of the precursors for 9/11 started. This is the dude for me, blind, late and wrong.
Proving once again that the schlock (yeah, we see what it is though) absorbed by folks differs from the intelligent and the fearful.

So back up, climb up on the roof of that 4x4, and see that the water of reason is rising. The same stream of thinking will cause you to perhaps look behind the curtain, Dorothy. Blind adherence to an agenda, any agenda, drowns your path asnd will only cause greater statistical variance from good outcomes.

YOU may profit but for the morally responsible, that is not all there is.

Its not "america bashing" - its simply the truth. Sorry that you can't handle it.

And yes, the UK has more than a few stains on its record. I've always admitted that and I'm sure as hell not proud of it.

You castigate Iran, but just how much proxie violence has the CIA sponsored around the world? I hate to break it to you but the western powers are no angels.

AS THAT isn't what this is discussing I didn''t feel the need to parade America's black operations at this time ,but to say Iran has attacked NO ONE is puerile in the extreme.

Poor Charlie Daniels, he really has an "Achy Breaky Heart"
When Obama was elected, he must have felt like he was falling into a "Burning Ring Of Fire"
The letter to GWB was beautiful Mr Daniels, it's great to see you "Stand By Your Man"
God Bless America, the Troops and Israel "I'm Gonna love you Forever - Forever and Ever Amen"

I dunno, cavtrooper... there's nastiness everywhere and has been forever. I didn't like the way Iran sent its untrained, young troops into the front lines when they were fighting Saddam's Iraq either and that fountain of blood thing they had going wasn't indicative of a wonderful nation.

But, when you get right down to it, the use of Irish immigrants to fight for the Union side in the American Revolution was just as dirty a move as that.

Name me one country that doesn't have innocent blood on their hands and I'll give you a star.

Wagging fingers at 'evil Iran' while ignoring the rest of the murderous tendencies of other governments is a bit much, imho.

To stay on the thread topic, I don't agree with CD much, but I admire him speaking out. At least he doesn't come across all angry and outraged. He's civil and to the point.

I wonder how many of people of the 28 that flagged this is on the boards saying that people need to stop paying attention to these Hollywood figures because they are just there to distract and divide....

Guess it doesn't matter when it is obama.

If you guys need a Flag boost on your stats just find some crazy headline about Obama and don't worry that plenty will flag it up before reading.

It was Billy Ray Cyrus who had the 'Achy Breaky Heart'. His (Billy Ray Cyrus') spawn is Miley Cyrus.

And, well, I have no use for either of them.
Just saying. Totally off-topic here....but.....yeah.

Turns out the same people on this board.

Now it's the extremists -- the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, Hezbollah, and their backers Iran, Qatar and Turkey -- against Israel and the more moderate Muslims including Jordan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia."

www.cnn.com...

Pay attention there.

And why are they in Iraq? It

Because that is what Saudi Arabia is. Miss the 2000 year old HATFIELD and McCoy blood feud between the Shia, and the Sunni's ?

Guess so.

Nation building is big business are you against corporations making profit now?

That is what Iran is doing over there 'nation building', but the JEWS, and Christians don't get an invite.

If you paid attention to real facts instead of propaganda you approve of you would know his comments are ignorant.

Wasn't listening to the propaganda. Clearly anyone making excuses for OBama, and Iran, and blaming Reagan was pure propaganda.

And yeah some ignorance was shown in this thread. Not by Daniels.

You really need to study some history because this statement has bearing in real world facts. When the American puppet was in power Iran and Israel was fast friends.

LOL!

Is something in that comment supposed to explain to us how Iran poses a threat to the US, and thus why we should go to war with Iran?

Well now that isn't accurate at all.

Operation Boot.

The 1953 Iranian coup d'état, known in Iran as the 28 Mordad coup, was the overthrow of the democratically elected Prime Minister of Iran Mohammad Mosaddegh on 19 August 1953, masterminded by the United States (under the name TPAJAX Project) and backed by the United Kingdom (under the name "Operation Boot").

en.wikipedia.org...

It get's better.

Mossadegh had sought to audit the documents of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (AIOC), a British corporation (now BP) and to limit the company's control over Iranian petroleum reserves

ProUS/Pro US oil.

I love it.

The US got the blame.

The UK got the oil.

BRITISH PETRO.

I applaud him for going to Nashville with 20 bucks a wife, baby and a worn out clutch. He probably would have walked the last 50 miles if need be.

What if he hadn't gone? What if he hadn't taken that chance?
I imagine that was the single best life changing move that he ever made other than working his ass off to learn to play fiddle and guitar like he does.

Anyhow you can make it without a clutch, brakes would have needed fixing.

Many have risked all to get to Nashville only to get turned down though so I guess Charlee had obvious, above and beyond exceptional talent. I got lucky enough to see him at Dollywood once, didn't even know he was gonna be there. They jammed $lap out.

I love to hear those success stories, you know where Joe Blo heard someone singing in Nashville at Pauls Steak house or the Nashville palace or the blue bird cafe or some of the other venues and got his career moving.

For those who have "never" heard of Charlee Daniels, here are two of my many favorite songs by him.

Charlie Daniels - Drinkin my baby good bye. Love the bass and guitar lines in this.

Charlie Daniels - The South's Gonna Do It Again.

I'm sure Charlie knows that were screwed and glued no matter who is president. I liked the Bushes in General but had much much better financial times under Clinton and don't know if the current presidency had much to do with that. Maybe some of the things Clinton set in motion when he was in office then screwed future generations.

What's funny is the people who keep making excuse's for Iran.

No one is making any excuses for Iran they are posting fact. Don't like it? Too bad.

Pay attention there.

Anyone that says Egypt and Saudi Arabia are moderates are Fing crazy. Just look at how many Egyptians that Israeli lapdog Sisi has murdered since taking power and nobody backs extremist more than Saudi Arabia. As I said in another post Iran has every right to give arms to their allies who are protecting their own nations.

Because that is what Saudi Arabia is.

SA is in Iraq now? I thought that was ISIS.

That is what Iran is doing over there 'nation building', but the JEWS, and Christians don't get an invite.

No they are not nation building they are fighting ISIS along with America while our good "friends and allies" Israel and SA sit on the side lines as usual. Perhaps you should look up what nation building means because you seem to be confused.

Wasn't listening to the propaganda. Clearly anyone making excuses for OBama, and Iran, and blaming Reagan was pure propaganda.

People like you don't know propaganda when they hear it that's why it works so well.

And yeah some ignorance was shown in this thread. Not by Daniels.

Yes and it's by the people supporting what Daniels said.

LOL!

After the Shah who was pro western came into power relations between the two improved and that is fact.

charlie daniels has been a flag flying U.S. citzen for many years.
here is a song he released back in 1980 you know when the 2nd worst president was in office, and it became popular again after 911.

In America By Charlie Daniels
We'll the eagle's been flying slow, and the flag's been flying low,
and a lot of people's saying that America's fixing to fall.
But speaking just for me and some people from Tennessee,
we got a thing or two to tell you all. This lady may have stumbled but she ain't never fell.

And if the Russians don't believe that they can all go straight to hell.
We're gonna put her feet back on the path of the righteousness and then God bless America again.
And you never did think that it ever would happen again. In America, did you?

You never did think that we'd ever get together again. Well we damn sure fooled you.
We're walking real proud and we're talking real loud again in America.
You never did think that it ever would happen again.

From the sound up in Long Island out to San Francisco Bay,
and ev'ry thing that's in between them is our home.
And we may have done a little bit of fighting amongst ourselves,
but you outside people best leave us alone.

Cause we'll all stick together and you can take that to the bank.
That's the cowboys and the hippies and the rebels and the yanks.
You just go and lay your head on a Pittsburgh Steeler fan and I think you're gonna finally understand.

And you never did think that it ever would happen again. In America, did you?
You never did think that we'd ever get together again. Well we damn sure fooled you.
We're walking real proud and we're talking real loud again in America.
You never did think that it ever would happen again.

Background and writing
The line, "Just go and lay your hand on a Pittsburgh Steelers fan" stems from Daniels' feeling that the people in Pittsburgh are "The salt of the earth, the finest, just the greatest people. The strength of America." He says, "I've gone to ball games at different places, but I've always felt the Pittsburgh Steelers fans, especially in the old stadium - I mean, they're steel workers and they're good old guys with blisters, or calluses on their hands. The strength of America is not in Washington, D.C., It's in our people, it's on the farms, in the factories. It's the people out here that make this country work. The truck drivers, the farmers. And these people, that's what they were, and I just felt like if you want to go to war, let me take some of these guys with me. Go lay your hand on a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and you're gonna find out what American anger is, because it's the kind of people they are."
In America (song)

And it was also about the same time that Waylon Jennings had this hit...

During the 1980s, we had really come a long way from Vietnam and people were really recovering from the long national nightmare.

What other country in the world has every genre of music singing the praises of the very country that gave and still gives opportunity to everyone? No matter what they cry about our "racism" and all that, they really have no clue what it means to live here.

Even the Godfather of Soul had a thing to say about the subject.

These critics of us really have no clue what it means to live here and to become American, because you can be from England one day and take the citizenship oath the next day and be called American. Just ask the Canadians who found their way to success here, like Jim Carrey, Alan Thicke, William Shatner and oh yes....Justin Bieber.

Thanks to America, THAT'S why you all hear Justin Bieber. Without us, he'd just be another Canadian singer who wouldn't be known outside of Canada.

Canada may have given birth to Shania Twain but she made it big in NASHVILLE, USA.

If the critics of the US have such a problem with us, tell their people to stop coming here and making it big. Tell all their friends and relatives that they need to stop supporting our fame and international identity by staying where they are. You know WHY we are so proud? You can come here with $20 and in a few years with some hard work you can become whatever you want.

THAT'S our testament to the world, that Charlie Daniels and James Brown were proclaiming.

WE are NOT like other countries and that's why everyone wants to come here and they know it. No matter how much people think Obama is the end-all, the be-all Messiah of the New Age, there will always be Americans who will continue to pull themselves up from the bootstraps and become something.

Think about how Obama became president, a rank and file senator from Illinois in his first term, is yanked out of all the representatives and put on the national stage....because he repeated the mantras of the powers that be, he did nothing extraordinary before, he merely had charisma. No experience in leadership, he even writes two books that he states his upbringing was really of his mother and father who were not really married, his father being a Kenyan deportee....after the good graces of John F. Kennedy who had designed the program to allow Africans to come here to study.

And to get deported from this country...with a wife in Kenya, to illegally marry Stanley Dunham, which makes their marriage here null and void, he was a bigamist. And then that same Barack is legally adopted by an Indonesian citizen, his name changed to Barry Soetoro, then he comes back here with that name and never legally changes his name to Obama again, never being formally adopted by his grandparents.

Only in America can a non-citizen (because he was formally adopted by an Indonesian citizen, making him Indonesian), the son of a bigamist deportee, and rank and file junior senator with no experience, become President by claiming he is American, because his mother was born here.

Only in America.

Maybe he should have taken lessons from James Brown, he might be more proud of being American than just gladhanding terrorist regimes. It's not about how rich your daddy was that makes America great, it's the people who live here that make it great...and it's those Americans that the rest of the world want to be like.

And the rest of the world knows this, that's why they keep coming. So the critics should just come here and live, but once they get here, then they get the right to complain. Intel processors were invented by a Balkan immigrant, thank US for giving him that chance.

Regardless of our political party affiliation we have the right to say what we want about the other parties, because we have the freedom to do so. There is no difference in the freedom of Charlie Daniels or Michael Moore to say what they want, they say it so respect both of their rights. We might not agree with either of them, but we respect and defend their rights, and THAT'S what makes America so great.

We don't hang dissidents. We don't even burn flag burners. Can any middle eastern country claim that same respect?
