I've heard some minimization about the attack. Many are claiming he is a nobody, he's just an accountant.

A lot of people in business failed to notice the accountants too. Usually when their importance is realized. That accountant is gone and the wheels are getting ready to fall off the whole ride.

If that man is the leader of finances for Isis it could be a very major blow indeed.

That puzzled me, too, given their notoriety and news exposure in past years: Abu Sayyaf (Filipino Islamist group)

Given that the name means "father of the swordsmith", though, it's plausible that someone other than Abu Sayyaf Philippines could use the name.

After all, there are a lot of people named "Mohammed" running around, but that doesn't mean they're all the original Mohammed.

Maybe Abu Sayyaf Philippines should change their name to "The Original Abu Sayyaf" just to be safe.

There is no biography for an individual with that name so if he does exist he would seem to not be in the upper echelons as they claim ,something does smell about this Blackwater/XE types would allow plausible deniability but uniformed US troops in Syria raises some major concerns.

There's always more to stories like these.

The U.S. government only says what it wants people to hear, and it is longstanding DoD policy to use information as a weapon. And as a weapon, a single piece of information can serve many purposes.

A message is definitely being sent in this instance, but as is so often the case, its exact nature may be a lot more subtle than it appears on the surface.

It will be interesting to see what follows -- from the U.S., from the Islamic State, and from other Middle East players.

Make up random name and claim he is terrorist leader, then show no proof of said leadership and kill the guy

Yes something happened but the official story just like the Bin Laden story in my opinion is bulldust you are entitled to believe what the DOD says but you will never get proof of this story that I do guarantee, of more interest to me actually is five years ago this would of been a 30 page thread instead of a three page one.

That's the trouble with crazy. Crazy does not respond to anything but attrition. It is like a line that is stepped over, a black hole on the other side. The other problem with crazy, is that there are some outside groups that think they are sane.

Maybe they can bag Abu Waheeb next.

I think taking him out of the frame would do more damage to their organization.

But alas he is in Iraq. Its just more prudent to launch raids in countries you aren't or ever been at war with. (Sarcasm)
