Actually, all science and scientists can do is work with what the universe--or God--gives them to work with. Big difference. The issue here is glaringly obvious

People condemn religion and any belief system spawned from it....

Yet will believe this, even tho the premise is almost exactly the same....

Seems to me that science is their religion

So it seems religion is perfectly at play here in both cases........as Enteri so eloquently showed us with his vitriolic retort

And of course the entire discussion leaves out the questions of why they would bother doing this, where they got their template for our lives from, and where the aliens themselves originated. All this does is push back the God question further, in my opinion. . .

..Because it is based on mathematics, the most accurate and complex code of mathematics our creators could fathom.

..To simulate their world as accurately as possible and discover why.

To what end?

..Well, we as humans have always asked what the meaning of life would be, or how everything began.

I'm sorry, are you saying that the only way to understand an entire universe is to simulate an entire universe? That makes no sense. You cannot simulate accurately that which you do not understand. Oh you can try, but it will always fail because of the things that you did not include but should have...except you did not know about them and hence could not include them.

How soon will we be able to create an artificial universe where the entities in them are conscious?

Even if what we feel is real, is an artificial universe, maybe the ones that created our universe are also from an artificial universe too?

Once you create a universe, do you become a god? You can have "admin" rights and bybass the "natural" laws when you are the creator, so you possess godlike powers compared to your creations.

Even if our universe is artificial, what is natural?
