Upgrades to ATS Infrastructure in the works! Important question for members.

To my knowledge I have never linked any images to any where else. Would it help also if I delete the pictures I have and save locally on my HD if I still need them ? The upgrades sounds like a big step forward so congrats on making the move and hopefully it will all pay for itself. It will not affect me if you remove that privilege as there are many sites to upload images to if need be.

No externally shared pics here, but hey, I don't post that much - I'm a reader!

You know what I would like to see though? NUMBERED POSTS!!! It makes finding where you left off in a post so much easier. Is that something that would be possible through this transition/upgrade?

i have a few images that i keep on here for storage, not for sharing.

if it is necessary, i can relocate them to other photo-storing sites.

although im positive that my little stash is a drop in the bucket.

Interesting stuff Skeptic, looks like this will be an interesting time to be part of ATS. As for the image hosting, I prefer uploading to imgur and using the standard [*img*]URL HERE[*/img*] tags as opposed to the one here on ATS.

The images I upload to ATS are just used on the site, I have other websites that I use for artwork and also others for image sharing on specific image sharing sites like imageshack etc.

you may already know this but if you delete a photo it will also delete it from any thread you have it posted in. just an fyi.

No and please do so.

I'd rather not be the face of a thousand new Twitter bots or plastered over Facebook.


I trust ATS members not to spread images about, not so much other websites who can access them.

Every single image I have ever uploaded to ATS servers is solely related to my avatar or a post/thread on ATS.
If you don't want to be an unpaid host for other people linking from other sites I will not shed a tear.

We're also going with server specifications I call, "Thor's Hammer" with 96BG of ram, dual Raid-10 hard drive arrays, and 24 cores. (for those who know what that means, it's pretty good)

If we disallow sites other than ours from using our CDN bandwidth, we'd be able to see a significant cost-savings.

There are many images sites for that purpose and never wanted to cost ATS needless waste of bandwidth for that purpose.

Please shut that down and use the saving to support our life support systems and community! Very pleased ATS was able to bounce back so quickly...
