I won't jump the gun...you know, like the black community, Obama and Holder...but I won't be at all surprised if this black man was previously injured, was supposed to be recuperating, was out selling drugs to his thug, punk, criminal buddies, was picked up by the cops and ended up further injuring himself. As usual, the genius black community jumps to conclusion before hearing the story cause...you know...everything is about keeping them down. How whitey doesn't let them get a job, doesn't force fathers to stay with their families, doesn't permit them to educate themselves, forces them onto welfare and a life of crime.

Maybe "some people" should start taking responsibility for themselves and their community. You know...self respect, working for a living, following the laws and morals, being a responsible father, etc.? Too much to ask I guess.

Cause...you know...every white cop out there isn't a cop because they want a job, income and a pension. No! They are only there to throw all that away the first chance they get to hurt a black person. You see, white cops apparently have such strong racism that they will throw their lives away just to injure a black man. Right???

I'm so sick of this racial bull#. There is only one color of racist...black.

I agree that selling drugs is no excuse for the cops to kill someone. But I think that it is relevant that he had previous spinal damage from something or other and had surgery a week earlier. He could have been accidentally injured in this case by something as simple as a struggle to put him in the cop car.

Or a sneeze. A friend had a herniated disk and one day he simply sneezed. The disk hit his spine and he's been crippled since.

I do think something needs to happen to repair the rift between citizens and police but this story is perplexing. Now it seems at least it could have simply been karma vs police brutality. Not to say of course a good boot stomp to the back by a cop could have easily done it also. We may really never know.

No, Gray didn't have a spine injury before his arrest, already been addressed by the Family attorney in live TV.

An 80% severe spine injury in the neck is no cause by a simple sneeze, this injury is akin to a trauma injury caused by force, your chances to survive such injury will required immediately immobilization.

Gray went into coma inside the van, police said he was unresponsive at arrival.

True!
I have 4 vertabrae fused in my neck. I still have one herniated thoracic disc that is inoperable, according to my specialist. Some severe pain can occur when I sneeze.
The last one that I had fixed in my neck had paralyzed one of my muscles and made it impossible to raise my right arm above shoulder level. I regained use of it immediately after the surgery.

In looking at the lawsuit and settlement for the lead paint poisoning case I wonder if the lead paint could cause some bone disease? I looked it up and it can actually cause osteoporosis in later years but Freddie was only 25.

Can anyone find any other bone cause from lead paint poisoning?

If he had some sort of undiagnosed bone problems then maybe this caused the neck injury?

I am just watching the investigated reporter that is following this, CNN live, court papers were found and no, has nothing to do with his death by neck injury, they are calling it a conspiracy theory, in other words Is Debunked

Just like all the the cop apologist are eating up the prisoner that could not see him and this prior neck surgery claim.

I'm not a cop apologist. I'm just waiting to see the official report and all the facts before I jump to conclusions. If the six cops are responsible, sure I hope they're prosecuted to the fullest extent. I'm sure that will happen. But if it's shown that Gray had injuries to the top of his head which are consistent with purposely banging headfirst into the van walls, as purported the other prisoner witness in the van, causing his fatal spine injury, then a mea culpa should come from CNN, MSNBC, and all the libs and rioters. I'm sure that will NOT happen.
It's funny, all the cop hater hypocrits hate cops until they need one.

Why should the title be changed? There's already two question marks '??' after the title, indicating that it is questionable (unsubstantiated).

In all due respect, Freddie Gray's rap sheet circumvent's the fact he was killed within the care of police officers, something that is inexcusable no matter what race/religion/rap sheet etc etc...

He wasn't killed in the care of police..he died a week later in the care of Dr's. in Hospital..probably of drug interaction or mishandling

^^ This ^^

I see on here where @ 60% say he died in the custody of the police, when in fact he died a week later in the custody of medical professionals.

Thank you, that's exactly why I phrased it like I did; but it seems a lot of people are taking it like I was dictating gospel.

Can't be everything to everyone I suppose.

He had no surgery... that was debunked some number of pages ago.

It's quite possible, considering his injuries that all the writhing about in the van the other passenger heard was
Freddie seizing. In fact, it's unlikely that he would not have seizures.

It isn't too bad.
Both of the neck surgeries were a complete success and have no real issues with mobility in my neck.
The inoperable one does cause me some misery at times, but I don't even take pain medication for it.

We don't know what Freddie Gray's condition may have been before the chase and arrest, but there is no evidence at this time to say that he had any issues with his neck. The three crushed vertabrae could have been caused by the tackle when they arrested him, but I doubt it.
He didn't have have a crushed larynx when they put him in the van and I don't believe that he had severe spinal injuries at that point either. He may have received a boot to the neck when they stopped to shackle his legs, or he may have got the injury from the rough ride and being unsecured in the van.
The other prisoner said that the ride was rough.
