Who cares the source is in Dutch?
Not me... and I'm Dutch.

Your not fooling anybody with that.

You can try ... but the 'source' (probably being the exact same text as in the YouTube Poligoon newscast) has no mentioning of a rock.

Don't be silly.

Please close this thread. Our queen may or may not got a moonrock that was or is not real.
Allthough somebody clearly painted something vage in a photo of our old queen/princess Juliana.

Someone please make an end to this thread 2?

Yes that is true the news did not mention the moon rock given to the queen. TW will upload the news article here.

the last line tells:
"Bij de ontvangst in het paleis kreeg de Koningin een replica van de boodschappen die de astronauten op de maan achterlieten en een stukje maansteen."

Translation:
When the astronaut arrived the Queen recieved a replica of the message the astronauts left on the moon and a PIECE OF MOON ROCK.

More like a speck of moon dust than a "rock", its encapsulated in a holder much like collectable coins. Its so small you can hardly see it. But technically, it is from the moon.

Every american taxpayer contributed a few dollars to give that away. Can I get a speck of dust, too?? I hear theres moon dust still on the suits stored in some closet somewhere…

Thank you for the translation! A star for your effort.

Though I must confess that I fail to find the source of your image. I searched it through both Google image search and Tineye, and none of these returned a result. So I must ask you: what is the source for your picture?

Thanks in advance!

thank you, TW will keep that in mind but it goes like crazy when you upload something here. TW likes it when people come with answers we did not see. Always good to learn new things. Lets find the moon rock the queen got, like the other dutch speaker told it was not mentioned in the old TV news broadcast of those days????.

As it happens I've seen some docu-drama's about if the moon landings are fake or not and now this.....

At the moment I start to belief these landings were fake. Not only because of the evidence presented but also because of what people were in power in the USA those days.

If you'd asked me a few years ago if the landings were fake I would tell you that everybody who does think they were are mentaly ill between the ears. I am sorry to say that after the murder of JFK things became worse in the USA. It is as if that country is running on lies and corruption today.

not good!!

Yep, that's what it says.

Then it is probably in posession of king Willem Alexander.

Could be sold at auction but that's not likely.

It wouldn't be the first time a newspaper got a story wrong.

astronauts Neil Armstrong, Edwin
Aldrin and Michael Collins on their arrival
arrival in the capital welcomed the
three Apollo 11 astronauts in

"Took the family Queen Juliana
Astronauts a reproduction of the

juliana Prince Bernhard Oldrin Collins
Armstrong and Prince Claus

No mention of a moon rock. The astronauts gave no one a moon rock.

Seeing as the OP was takling his sweet time I found the article for myself, and I am happy to confirm that the translation is accurate. Maansteen is 'moonrock'.

Please do not take this as a concession that you have found photographic proof that the Apollo 11 astronauts actually left a piece of moon rock. You have not.

The photograph clearly shows that the Queen is holding the goodwill disk, not a rock of any description (never mind the petrified wood).

Given that no Apollo samples were in the hands of Apollo astronauts at the time of the Goodwill Tour, we are left with the astonishing conclusion that the newspaper report is incorrect. Who could imagine such a thing?

I saw that one too, but that doesn`t say anything...it`s not like those journalists were simply repeating "ANP" as they do now in that time.

The newspaper has merged with others in `02, but it was actually a trustworthy newspaper, not comparable with some tabloids. I have read newspaper lots of times and know of the quality at first hand.

A newspaper doesn't have to be a "tabloid" to get details of a story wrong.

The astronauts gave moon rocks to no one. Fake or otherwise.

Well lets see if there is more information to find about this "moon" rock.

I have been reading some Dutch articles about it, and it all comes down to the fake moon rock given to Dutch former Prime Minister Willem Drees...it`s the same one...it only has been wrongfully mentioned it was given to our Queen.

Google Translate

So the journalist of the article was under the impression there had been given a moon rock.

Our former Queen has however been given pieces of moon rock handed out by Nixon between `69/`73, but that was later because the Apollo 11 mission did not bring a lot back home and so it was kept at NASA.
