In its darkest hour, the battle of Britain, the then American ambassador, surname Kennedy, told the American president that Britain was 'finished', so obviously there's no point in throwing good money after bad...

And now the reverse is true, we now get to tell the yanks that America is "finished"

Oh I love this roundabout.

So to sum it up

America tries to help..they are horrible , angry , conquering , invading and the devil.
America doesnt help...they are horrible, passive, evading, ignoring and the devil.

Why not "help" only when asked (Korea)? Rather than force help when no one wants it(Iraq)?

What happened during the Falkland war btw? did the Americans do anything to help either side?...never really thought of the question?.

I think they offered but we said no we can handle it.

Though they did give us intelligence and satellite data.

you think we are great, I used to tell my kids in the 80sd 90s 2000 etc that Britain was the greatest country on earth as no one goes hungry, I can't say that anymore. Children go hungry and teachers have to bring in food to feed them to stop them fainting during lessons, A type one diabetic had benefit stopped because he was 5 minutes late, if a type 1 diabetic does not eat he goes into a coma and dies, this guy died with an empty bellie, we are ethnically cleansing the poor from London, You may think Britain is great I think its a # hole full of greedy uncaring people. A country full of hate, some one hates some other group and combined they all hate the poor and disabled. Im ashamed to call myself British

We are still better than 90% of the world.

Only country better than us are the Scandinavian country's, Australia, New Zeland,Canada and possibly Japan.

I think the proper question is not would we but should we. It is my firm opinion that you guys never learn. We have events again playing out very similar to World War II. And what does Europe do ? Once again they practice appeasement.

The 7000 nukes pointed at Europe and the USA kinda make war a no go.

Unless you and your family want to die in a nuclear holocaust?

Major was getting some serious stick from the media calling him the grey man etc, this guy was serious, which made me think at the time we have something the people don't know about, it could explain a lot such as reducing our standing troops etc.

Well, now I'm going to have to dig into it. You've got my curiosity going.

The entire western world would expolde diplomatically Russia would be blockaded and completely drained DRY of money.
What will UK do if the US get's into a fight with Iran?
WE WILL NOT let them have nukes, once it's detected see the above.

Thats your war and you can fight it on your own.

If the USA is attacked I would come to your aid myself.

If you start a war? fight it yourself.

We will be there as best as we can. The current admin has really tied us down with the isolationism views. They have cut our military so much , i doubt if we could hold off an invasion of mosquitoes . And it seems as if they are trying to make friends with our enemies , and enemies of our closest allies....Senseless...

Just like WW2 eh. Took your bloody time.

Even if the USA had entered the war in 1939 they would have been useless.

There armed forces were undermanned, under equipped and under trained.

Hell if they had gone in in 1939 the Japanese would likely have taken Hawaii before they could have got there # together.

It took until 1943 before the USA became the industrial killing machine it was known for.

Really? You think you're such good friends to us and would never go astray?

How about this? The UK has decided to go against us and join the BRICS countries in their bid to create a new world bank. It made the headlines here and angered the powers that be.

"UK snubs US to join China-led Asian bank."

Here's the link: thebricspost.com...-Dw

Just because we are friends does not mean we cant have other friends.

Hey, could you possibly give a source to start checking. I can not seem to find anything about this.

Even when the USA wasn't officially involved in the war conflict American men took the oceanic journey to volunteer and fight.

Yet those that are "volunteering" in Ukraine, are bad.
Yet those that are "volunteering" in Syria, are bad.
Yet those that are "volunteering" in Iraq, are bad.

This is nuts. Is there any doubt that the US would go to war for the UK? REALLY?

There is no point in breaking this conversation down into the past. In the past we were not a military power. WE relied on the UK.

Hell, we went to war with Chile at one point because their navy was a threat to us....think about that. Chile.

Now things are different, and we have learned that we cant just ignore the world and wait for war to come to us. Its an ugly truth, but if anyone thinks differently, think to either world war and the absolute fact that the powers opposed to the Uk and co had concrete plans to invade the US mainland or just bomb us into oblivion for later conquest.

We know the same is true for the UK. I really dont know about the rest of Europe. I think we would let France hang a little considering that they always oppose us and stir up strong propaganda campaigns against our military efforts that protect western interests in general.

The UK though? No way. As far as I am concerned, we are still part of the commonwealth, though in a very unique relationship to the crown. A little more independant and a little more self serving, but still under the same family of leadership.

Our presidents are related to english royalty down to Obama for crying out loud. Has no one considered this? We have dynastic rule to leadership that has blood loyalty to the English crown.

We couldnt go to bat before because we had farmers and tractors. Outdated ships and under equipped troops and crap weapons. What were we going to do in WW1? Farm the enemy trenches and offer them crop dusting services?

Well to be fair in WW1 we just needed meat to throw at the machine guns. British, French or American it meant no difference as long as they could use up the German bullets.
It was the navy blockade that beat Germany as they simply just ran out of bullets and food.

But WW2 your point is sadly true. If the USA had entered the war in 1939 Japan would have mauled you guys badly.
USA would have just got in the way if it had joined pre 1941.

Roosevelt was smart in holding off. Really the USA should have waited until 1942. Mid 1943 was when the USA took off. UK gave you guys a nice buffer to get going.

I think France did the right thing keeping out Iraq.

I would defend the USA people with my life.

But if your government pulls another war for profit in the ME I hope the UK leaves you to fight it alone.

Im 100% for US defense. Im not ok for offense.

Hey I was against the war in Iraq myself. I am referring to the the general effort to undermine the US in all its police actions, calling us imperialists, always criticising our people instead of our government, etcetera

I think Iraq was a huge mistake. We let in an army of mercenaries that outnumbered our forces 3 to one and let them run wild. A force of international criminals for hire that were not under the rule of law or military code of conduct, and that cost us SO MUCH more. We could have had 3 american Armies in Iraq for the cost of the dirty mercenary scum we employed.

It was motivated by profit through and through. We got the blame as a country for the efforts of corporations conducting war. Countless people died because they didnt even screen who they hired. Merc scum....

O thats just the French for you.

Just ignore them when they do that. Thats what us Brits have being doing since we whooped Napoleon.

Its just a "french" thing.

Glad you agree and see the truth.

I think Bush and Cheney committed treason and so did our Tony Blair. Making Hundreds of millions in personal wealth out of a war you start is war profiteering and making that money at the expense of peoples lives in simply treason.

One day I hope we bring those Criminals to justice.
