I lurked on this site quite a while before I came in. You have such a deep burning hatred for the US that you let your passions override actual facts when they are put in front of your face.

Good day sir.

The irony here being that your deep burning love for America prevents you from admitting ANY legitimate criticism (of which there is plenty)

The true irony is your reading comprehension prevents you from understanding post. I already said I would've voted for America if it was ask who is the greatest threat to world peace.

But who purchases China's goods. It seems that much of what is in the stores is from China. The government uses high priced military purchases as part of it's GPA. It also uses Rent paid by renters as part of it's GPA. This shows a lot of high price products make a majority of China made inexpensive products as a small part of our GPA but these imports are brought up in price by wholesalers and retailers and the increase is added to homegrown GPA.

The businesses buying these products do not worry about the pollution that China is making, the pollution is just blamed on China. We the people here in America should be telling China to clean up their act and we will pay for the increase by taking it out of the pockets of the people who are jacking up the price.

The people making money off the Chinese products make way more than China does on these things.

ETA- Central banks should be on the list.

I concurr. The global banking cartel is in fact the biggest threat to humanity in the history of the species. That so few should be in charge of so much while so many suffer should be of great concern to everyone.

But it's easy to just blame the american people, isn't it? Almost like that was the plan all along?

Indeed, two quotes come to mind:

"Give me control of a nation's money and I care not who makes it's laws" — Mayer Amschel Bauer Rothschild

and

""If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered...I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies... The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs." -Thomas Jefferson

Are all the warning(s) we should need, as the evidence is plain as day.

The results so far do make for interesting reading.

I've never seen Russia as a threat - even through the cold war. I think the Russians suffered so badly in WW2 that they will never start another full scale war.

I have always worried about Israel. The country was born out a cycle of hatred and that cycle seems to perpetuate to this day. Add in nukes and the national version of "little man syndrome" (as the country is so small) and there is a powder keg waiting to go off.

North Korea hates everyone it seems, but they aren't stupid. Neither are Iran.

The USA though has a global image problem post-Bush era that its going to find hard to shake. The shambles that was Iraq has tainted both the US and the UK but as senior partner in the venture I think the US has borne most of the brunt of the mistrust and, sadly, for all the good the country does, people remember the worst bits.

That and the fact that what folks outside the US hear about internal politics, gun laws and religious loonies makes a big old mess of a picture, and thats where the other part of the perception we're seeing comes from IMHO.

As for me, I chose the US.

Why?

Because of the circumstances of the Iraq war, which to my mind was wholly manufactured. When the most powerful military on the planet is unleashed on a country on the pretext of a lie, that's scary - and it seems from what I read/hear that the Republicans, should they get voted back in, haven't learned their lessons and want to do it all over again in Iran - and elsewhere, and have virtually said as much already. That would not be good for the world at all.

If I had a second pick, I'd have chosen the UK, because we followed blindly the first time, and may do it again, and that kind of stupidity is scary as hell.

We're going to take a different more doom-and-gloom direction with our next poll (as if the POTUS straw poll isn't doom-and-gloom enough). Below is our latest Poll. This time, we're asking for your honest opinion of which country represents the biggest threat to humanity's long-term survival… and I want you to not just think about global geopolitical and conflict threats… is there a humanitarian crisis on the horizon from a third-world nation that will threaten us all? Or is the threat purely one of global species-ending conflict?

Lol, I knew it. United States.

People with enough historical knowledge would be hard pressed to not awaken to the fact that the current empire is the US. And most of the wars and empire-building are being done by the US. Actions that all carry the risk to escalate into large conflagrations.

That is nothing more than an attempt at rationalization of the problem. Regardless of all the excuses you made for China. By your own words China is still the top the polluter in the world.

^^^^^^^^ The funniest thing on this site. This poster was dead wrong in his assumption. Yet idiots are agreeing with him out of pure hatred. Lmao

Ok, I'm on page 3, and still don't see any "poll". What am I missing? Where is it?

The attitude of close mindedness, thin skin and insulting. THAT is why the US comes in #1 here.

And the attitude of agreeing with inaccurate statements out of hatred is what a ATS has come to.

That poster said I could not admit to any criticism of America. In my second post to you I said I would've voted for America if it was termed a threat to world peace instead of a threat to humanity.

But as usual my comment went unread I suppose in the rush to attack anyone that in anyway defend's America.

I've been on other sites a unbiased moderator Would have acknowledged my earlier statement instead of the stirring the pot some more.

Who wants to start taking bets that either Israel or the USA comes out top on this poll

I knew that was going to happen, it was hard to pick just one, I was torn on Israel only because of Biblical prophecy, nothing personal.

it will prolly be a natural disaster anyway.

I voted Russia, BTW.

There's nothing "below" it.

I don't know. I see the OP, and all 9 pages of responses, but no poll. Using Chrome. Let me see if Firefox shows it.....

nope. Just that one paragraph.

Oh well. I would vote Israel, or China+N Korea.
