Are we talking capability or intent?
I always thought Russia ,US and China should have unified and gone all STARTREK instead of maintaining nationalistic power grabs.
THERES no money in peace so I would think the influence or Coporate banking power has been over bearing, but THEY aren't a state or nation so laws don't apply .
THAT gives them leeway to do as they please.even manpulating governments the world over.
Could the US be the biggest threat if that was their intent ABSOLUTELY.

What IS the threat are the ones who will always get away.
Gotta get PAID.

I feel Pakistan are the nation that presents the biggest threat. They have a nuclear arsenal and there is always the threat of a coup. If the coup is carried out by a fundamentalist group, well, need I say more?

I think that Russia probably has the most chance of actually using nukes which is my idea of a worst case. While it isn't intentional I see Japan and the Fukishima reactor as a close second.

To call Russia a threat would imply we're not instigating them.

Thank you for showing us how to create organized slanted polls. Start a poll then ask group of people that have the same mindset the outcome. All the while rig that poll to make the answer you already predetermined seem worse than it is.

Hell I might even have checked the US if you would a labeled the poll as a threat to world peace. But it was labeled as a threat to humanity, when you read it that way it sounds like a extinction level event. And the greatest risk to humanity is nuclear weapons the person most likely to use them is Vladimir Putin.

But congratulations this poll was engineered to vilify one country and you successfully did it.

I don't see how this could be slanted. It's a straight forward question with many, many choices. Just because you don't like the outcome doesn't negate the opinion of the members.

Come on really? Every member that reads the title knows what country was going to be picked. It was slanted precisely because it is among ATS members. "Threat to humanity " (again the wording implies mass extinction) is pretty much nonexistent from the US, but I agree we are a threat to world peace.

It was a predetermined outcome because of the views plainly visible to anybody that reads ATS. It was made to sound even more vilifying by use of the phrase "threat to humanity." I will admit it was a cute trick, but you need to admit as a moderator and being honest that there was no question who is going to be picked on this site.

I would also like to ask do you see the US as a "threat to humanity" or a threat to world peace? ( and no it is not the same thing)

Edit; I did not say I didn't like the outcome. I said I didn't like the wording.

So just because the poll verified what YOU already saw as the inevitable outcome it's slanted?

I DID pick the US and I would for both of those.

The US by a long shot poses the most damage to the environment. We are big consumers. All costs are passed on to the consumer in the economy, it is also the same in Ecology. The persons who cause the actually destruction usually blame it on others. Now the fact that businesses purposely death date products or orchestrate planned obsolescence, puts the blame on the businesses that require these things in place on products built..

Well of course you would you are well known American hater. It's natural you would assume that America would launch a strike with nuclear weapons. Even though I can think of another major country that routinely threatens to.

I'm an American Hater?

And what's this nuclear strike thing? Many of other ways that the US can screw the globe. Biological means. Environmental means.

I lurked on this site quite a while before I came in. You have such a deep burning hatred for the US that you let your passions override actual facts when they are put in front of your face.

Good day sir.

Why? Do we honestly need a reminder of how we should have dealt with air pollution?

You want to talk facts...okay.

It took Canada and the US 40 years to enact air pollution legislation after the first documented affects.

It took China a shade under 20.

Just because they are behind our development curve, it does not negate the fact that they have surpassed our performance at every way point along said curve.

I laugh every time people here mention China's "environmental problems"...it's like we forget that we have had major ones in our very recent past, and looming ones still taking place.
