Heck if push came to shove the troops will fire on civvies if they are ordered to (certainly in the UK) just look at Northern Irelands history.

And that is what I'm afraid of. But to do nothing will only make it worse. They are making ready for a mass combat training in the southern US for July I believe. Though they are saying this is only for training for overseas, I think a few people are upset by this and feel it is more about practicing in case of mass uprisings.

Cool, I consider it a job choice, and say the same to the faces of mates who are currently serving. They choose to do whatever the British government through the MOD wants them to do.
I do not, and I will alays "fight them at the beaches" but the truth is, aside from the Falklands, it has been a long time since British forces killed people in actual defence of our islands.
Pretty much same same for the US, but hey celebrate them if you think they are actually doing stuff which keeps you safe from real aggressors threatening the life of yourself or your nation.

I KNOW my troops will not supprtt an illegal take over there would be a coup if they tried ...RATHER quickly I might add as would Brits I think.
Training ,YEAH sure they'll be happy to train.\To actaully FIGHT their own country..they aren't stupid.

How would they know it was an illegal takeover? They would have been briefed and brainwashed well in advance that X or Y are subversive types who are ok to shoot.
If you do not agree with that then I'm surprised you are moaning about going over to the Gulf because you obviously lapped up the government mantra that "Iraq is bad" and did exctly as you were ordered, even though it was all BS.

I am grateful that there are men and women that believe in defending us enough that they will porentially risk everything to do it, we know that's not how they're used by those in power but it is courageous and noble in principle. I also believe that when we stand up for you and treat your lives with dignity and value to ensure these atrocities no longer occur; you will also stand up for us. You're the greatest force for change we have and I thank you all whether you believe it's deserved or not.

Cavtrooper, I'm a Veteran too, I just started my battle with the V.A. over my utter loss of hearing from many years in an engine room sans hearing protection and diving, way down deep.

In any case, I have a contact at the V.A. who has been a great help to some of our brothers and I have recently reached out to him on my own behalf, if he is half as good as I've heard he is I will gladly give you his contact info.

Hang in there man and never, EVER, get down, fighting the good fight is all we can do at this point.

Accept if they don't make quotas ,they draft and if neccessary enact martial law if people run.

if the government cared about soldiers they would not put them in a battlefield with stricter restrictions than the local police force. sometimes the pawns job on the chessboard is to die. the commercials make us look like a spartan warrior culture but the ups could give a sht about the warriors fighting the battles.

It wouldn't help me with SSI as I have a pre-existing problem with math,and the VA won't recognize memory issues apparetly . I am currently looking into local Vocrehab for testing to verify the math DSL and hopefully get an fMRI to check my head.
