Well, from other sources.

Oceanographer refutes claims that climate change is slowing pace of Gulf Stream

Several recent studies have generated a great deal of publicity for their claims that the warming climate is slowing the pace of the Gulf Stream. But 20 years of measurements find no evidence that the Gulf Stream is decreasing in strength, researchers report.

Yeah, and then - if you have the opportunity to take action and build an overpass, create jobs, make the world better, allow people to cross safely, and keep the trains running on time - why the hell wouldn't you?

Oh right: because a bunch of oil company shills tell us it will send everyone back to the stone age. No hyperbole or alarmism there...

Well it's certainly interesting times we live in. It's probably too late to do much except live each day as if it were your last and make peace with whatever higher power you believe in.

I don't buy it.... ice melt and fresh water gumming up the water currents

that factor might get a ~5% affect on the massive volume of sea water/oceans....

but I suggest that the 10s of thousands of undersea hot spots, thermal vents, mud volcanos and other lava or hot sulpher gases being introduced into all the various undersea topographies is the more important and vital 95% factor...

the climate change promoters are stacking the deck in their model yet again

I dont know if i could do warmer in Florida we are already in the 80's to mid 80's this summer is goin to be brutal..a reply to: olaru12

I don't know what the weather patterns will ultimately shake out to be but the GOM is showing signs of warming up.

Will this result in bad storms or hurricanes...time will tell.

Eventually the debunkers and deniers will say "why didn't someone warn us" ....consider this a warning!

I'm sure there will be people out there offering different conclusions - that's the beauty of science. As long as they are doing real research and not cherry-picking and distorting blog-style I will gladly consider it.

Nature will eventually correct any imbalance and humans will adapt regardless. I am not overly concerned for my personal survival, but I know that the human race will be fine.

You are going to get pelters from the usual crew. I don't even bother anymore (unless pish.d) since it's obvious that the politicians have listened to the skeptics and take the corresponding actions ......ZERO, business as usual (NB actual actions not words, words are words, meaningless BS unless backed up by actions). How many climate change conferences have there been over the last decade with absolutely ZERO effective change....lots of words, promises etc etc. Oh and yet listening to the deniers you would think the whole world is wrapped up in some massive CO2 tax scam. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The poor people in third world low lying countries with no clout in the oil consuming, CO2 generating west are the ones I feel sorry for.

That wont happen, although I do look forward to interesting weather!

BTW, what will you say when you are proven wrong? Will you admit it?

So you know better than people educated in the science of geology! Exactly what are your qualifications that makes you an expert ?

I'm totally ready to be wrong. I always admit when I'm wrong. I admitted I was wrong about Obama, If you can remember. If it will make you happy here it is again....Obama sucks!

I'm still glad I don't have kids to witness what I see as drastic earth changes. Man made...I don't know but we're sure not helping.

Nature will not "correct" any imbalance. What does happen is that there are feedback mechanisms that keep a current state in balance. If there wasn't then the climate would swing from one state to another. However, every now and then the climate is so strongly affected it flips into another stable state (the ice cores show this).

Humans will survive but there is no way in hell "civilisation" as we know it will survive a major switch. The world will be drastically different and our children and grandchildren are the ones who have to live with our arrogant ignorance.

I don't believe this cycle is the usual cycle with which the Earth goes through.

Humanity is causing this one and do you know why? Over-population and the Capitalists who want more and more...

I believe we have the capabilities to prevent a very bad situation but the people at the very top... don't want that scenario... they want their scenario to continue.

Obama duped millions so you were not alone.

I agree with your post here. We are not helping. But more than us, China seems to give the finger to climate change and you could cut their air with a knife. India is another example.

When all countries come together and work as one against climate change, then the articles in this thread will be useful.
