As pointed out in the comments and revised on WUWT, that article is from 2010. The reason it is resourceful is because Mann and Rahmstorf used proxy
data from before 2010 to support their claim, meaning they ignored the actual measurements from the same time period as they disagreed with their
assertion. This is par for the course with both gentlemen.
By now the premise of the OP has been totally debunked, and the paper published by Mann and Rahmstorf has been totally disregarded by the climate
sciences community. The Gulf Stream is not shutting down at all.
