Wow!

I was just here on this thread a few hours ago and read the entire 18 pages of the thread at the time. Now it's at 28.

I look forward to reading the new developments....if any.

Good thing it burned itself out.

Out of curiosity, and as a sort of informal update, where are the other people and voices from Putin's leadership?

This was recently tweeted...

The translation of the text in the tweet is: "Simferopol, Yalta bypass." Which is in central Crimea.
The claim is that the cryptic message reads, "Putin Is Dead."
This is being retweeted by dozens of Crimean, Ukrainian, and Russian twitter users.

Can anyone confirm the translation?

It says Putin is dead, and the nuance is that Putin is not dead as human but more dead as an animal - there is distinctive difference with description of human and animal death in russian language,

Until we get a real source I am LMBO! Might one think Putin's body guard would be with Putin? We just haven't seen them? I don't know, I might be crazy! LOL

It is the "An announcement will be made...." circulation that is most worrying. If the announcement is from the opposition then it is telling everyone that there will be a coup - which just feels wrong. So the announcement must come from Putin himself. He cannot have flu as you would expect the 2nd in command to step up - but he hasn't been seen either. So Putin was to make an announcement that seems to have caused a coup!

My thoughts (and this is really out there), I see parallels to Operation Able Archer which in 1983 made us come close to nuclear war - even closer than the cuban missile crisis. The scariest part, nothing was known to the public for at least a decade. The Russians don't like "war games" - the Germans in world war II duped them with an invasion which started as an exercise. In Operation Able Archer, the Russians knew about this exercise but still thought it was cover for an invasion. Today we have a column of US tanks going to Estonia for an exercise. How would the US react if a column of Russian tanks were going to New Mexico for an exercise? The other part of Russian thinking at the time was that NATO had an excuse to invade as Russia had shot down a Korean airline. The similarity for an excuse would be the MH117.

So what if Putin was to announce some military war with the west that the oligarchs and some of the generals were against. Hence the announcement, then leading to a coup?

I am just putting it out there, it is a conspiracy website and I do think that the fact that our west governments are not making any noises suggests that there may be back room dealing going on that they (UK/US) don't want us to know.

I'm not sure how reliable Google translate is but I typed "Putin is dead" into the English box and this is what came out of the Russian box: Путин мертв

It'd be pretty funny if Putin and TPTB was reading ATS and laughing at how much our imagination is getting the best of us right now it'd be funny if Putin came out and said I just wanted to take a breather from all this stress...

Idk where Putin is, no one does.

However, because we know the man enjoys the spotlight, just a little bit, him not being seen or heard from in 10 days is quite puzzling. Seems to me he is either very ill, dead, or locked up in prison with the rest of his guys.

Otherwise, he'd be all over this just for the attention alone and to prove that he is still alive, well and in control.

Just my 2 cents.

Can anyone clarify the fog of military armament ignorance in my head for me?

In the Bay of Pigs, Cuba crisis, when Kennedy came nose to nose with Khrushchev, the kerfuffle was about Russia moving ballistic missiles to Cuba. Kennedy absolutely did not want them on the US doorstep.

The Cuban Missile Crisis, also known as the October Crisis (Spanish: Crisis de octubre), The Missile Scare, or the Caribbean Crisis (Russian: Карибский кризис, tr. Karibskiy krizis), was a 13-day confrontation in October 1962 between the United States and the Soviet Union over Soviet ballistic missiles deployed in Cuba. It played out on television worldwide and was the closest the Cold War came to escalating into a full-scale nuclear war.

Ok, so now Russia moved some Bastion Anti-Ship Missiles to Crimea last night. Can the two incidents be compared in terms of seriousness?
