Could it be that due to his bodyguards death, Putin went in hiding until the situation was under control/ they could make sure that everything would be safe?

His bodyguard has also been confirmed missing, but now I guess it's announced that he died. So his bodyguard was killed, and with all these assassinations, the area was deemed unsafe. So they safeguarded Putin until the situation could be controlled.

Putin doesn't strike me as the sort who is easily "couped", and coups are great rumours to spread to cover other goings on. This is a nation that has promised zombie weaponry, ufo disclosure, operates a number of active bio weapon research facilities and likes to play chicken with nuclear bombers.

Since I don't see multitudes in the streets and open battle anywhere, or even really hinted, i would think that rumours are just sleight of hand here too.

Besides....how would that account for that twitter post about taking the game to the next level.

The alleged death only received some degree of confirmation today -- Ukrainian news service indicating the death was confirmed by a Moscow source. This still isn't enough hard information to confirm that he has been killed.

Many of the Russian analysts I've been reading indicate that's an unlikely strategy. If a coup or other disruption is going on, Putin would remain very visible as long as he holds power. And even if loosing power, would want to be visible until the bitter end.

Not confirmed, reported to be missing. We won't really know until there is some kind of actual news.

I mean I can make up anything I want , say it on Twitter or Facebook and someone would believe it.
