I might be imagining a false connection, but don't most of these songs/titles either have to do with death and or America? Maybe the songs weren't chosen to strictly be annoying but also subliminal.

Personally, I'm wondering why they didn't do this:

Because there are some things even the CIA would not do.

Classic!

Gotta admit, I'd have acted like Tupac was torture to get some pleasurable leisure time...

In between the sodomy & water boarding that is.

Barney though...
I'd have been praying for electro-therapy time to come around!

I'll join in dating myself with this one. I could easily see someone shoving a nail into their ears to just MAKE IT STOP!

But then I was young enough when I first heard that and saw him on Laugh In I think (or was it Sullivan?) that I thought it was "cool" and it was loved by us children, but our parents probably were not impressed.

Five hours of that at full volume over and over and anyone would do what you want to stop it.

Good call

They could have dropped them all and just used the Barney theme song. I never let my daughter watch that show as it made me want to claw my eyes out and pierce my eardrums with rusty safety pins whenever I heard it.

Dude that's harsh.. please allow me to sandpaper my body and take a dip in rubbing alcohol first.

Captain Beefheart is also acceptable for torture!
I can't cue it up. But take a listen if ya'll can.

That song by dope I feel would give me the inner strength to destroy those who hold me captive.

Those detainees will be thankful at least that "What does the Fox say" didn't exist at the time...

No one likes what the Fox has to say...

The Song or the News outlet!

Oops. I guess I missed that. I actually had to go back over it to see what you were talking about. Yep, that's torture.

I respectfully disagree, All Eyes On Me is a classic.

There is much worse Rap music they could have chosen.

Though given the time frame of this Torture Method, probably not nearly half as much Crap Rap as there is nowadays.

On this I can heartily agree with you, ketsuko!

Makes my ears bleed. I'd be confessing whatever they wanted me to within minutes...

I like 6 from the list. The barney one would be torture. I was surprised not to see rap. If you want to torture me, that's the crap to use. I hate rap.

So you would consider this torture to listen to?

If it's rap, yes. I don't even like it when they try to mix it with rock or metal. I can barely tolerate Rage Against the Machine. If it wasn't for their guitar playing, I wouldn't.

How about you be a little more open to things? I used to loath country music and have come to enjoy quite a bit of it. What is it about rap that you don't like? The rhyming?

A winner... Bedlam's were triumphant and are going to be used against some particularly obnoxious neighbors I have... but this... there aren't enough Karen Silkwood showers for this.

What lower depths of hell did you descend to to find this sonic travesty? You have tweens in the house?

My offering is one many arty stoner kids in the 80's regaled hated intoxicated frenemies with ...

Throbbing Gristle 'Hamburger Lady"

Whitney Houston would be my ultimate torture. And I iiiiiiiiii ey Iiiiiiiiiii will always Love You ooooooo ew oooooo..
The over singing drives me nuts!! Just because you can do it, doesn't mean you should.
Pretty good songs on that list. Pretty sure I wouldn't crack unless they broke out the over singer.

I'm open to a lot of things. I don't like the thump thump thump and lack of melody, for one.
