So there is no chance your friend has fallen for the propaganda machine of Russia, directing hate against the USA so they aren't paying as much attention to their own suffering under the sanctions.

That's as valid a theory as the USA is trying to force ww3, after 4 years of military cut backs.

Edit: the only country in this drama with an advantage militarily to start is Russia.
