So then I'm wondering from where other than media speculation, and perhaps ideological interests, you arrive at your conclusion that it is not over a parking dispute.

Because he wants to draw a parallel between this and terrorist acts in an effort to make everyone see that Muslims are discriminated against.

Except that this particular murder was not actually religiously motivated like Islamic terrorism and there was no Atheist jihad movement encouraging this nutball to kill non-Atheists so it's a poorly-drawn parallel.

Which theory is that???

Sounds to me like the guy just snapped. By looking over the victims facebook page it's really sad too because he seemed like a really good guy. Feeds the homeless. Married family man. Very active in the community. Going to be a Dentist. It's always good people that get taken out and the monsters left behind for some reason. Sucks for the rest of us.

I have a working theory that there is a special kinda hate for Christians that is prevalent in the world at large. Charlie and I had a small conversation bout it in a different thread. We disagree on who is hated more Muslims or Christians but we are however friendly about it I think. LOL
You could just cut the mustard and say all three Abrahamic Religions are hated in today's world. The jews certainly get a lot of hate thrown their way too.

Oh no doubt about that at all, however I was asked what my theory actually was. Thy kinda stepped into a private joke when asking. LOL
But no doubt you are right Abrahamic religions in general are not real liked in today's world.
But all of that is for another thread.

I'm pretty sure everyone who's part of a group always feel like they are being singled out more than others. When the reality is usually that it just seems that way because they're so close to it and that all groups are probably equally disliked by all other groups.

There seems to be so much hate to go around that everyone feels like they are getting the bulk share of it.

Seems it's mostly religion vs religion.

Atheism has no belief. It's a lack of belief. No one commits an act because of atheism "belief".

An atheist can only commit an act of their own personal belief.

Well, to be honest, Karma's a bitch.

Throughout history, the Abrahamic religions have done some really nasty things in the name of god.

Abrahamic religions also seem to be mixed up in conflict most of the time too so that might be why a lot of people dislike them.

Abrahamic Religions all have a very common theme of exclusionary ideals and a desire to be "The Only Truth". Even with other Abrahamic Religions which is Ironic.

Well there is the oil thing....

Well that would be because of the prevailing idea that there is in fact an absolute truth. And beings how they disagree on what those truths are they would not be able to agree, so really its no so much ironic as it is something to be expected LOL

You see there, already you go on the defensive and the need to deflect some blame elsewhere and try to reclaim some kind of superior position when there is no reason to.

We were talking specifically about Abrahamic Religions. Nobody said other religions don't do bad things too or anything like that. They weren't even mentioned, however Abrahamic Religions were being discussed and just a overall historical fact being mentioned is met with opposition. Why is that???

I am defensive because someone just said that my fellow followers of faith are getting whats coming to them for being Christian, (Karma is a Bitch right????) its not blaming anyone for anything nor any need to reclaim any position at all.

But it wasn't about oil until recently. I'm pretty sure there has been fighting over in the Middle East and around the globe for a long time before Oil Markets started playing a role there.

What should be expected is that 3 different Religions who all claim to come from the same source would somehow come to some kind of common ground. Yet over a couple thousand years they seem to be no closer to finding that common ground for some reason.

No, just exposing your motives since you'd rather make cheeky insinuations and then get defensive when someone calls you out.

It's your typical M.O. You say something without saying it and when someone interprets your point, you play the "that's not actually what I said!" game. Why do we go through this in so many threads, Charlie?

Try having the testicular fortitude to say what you really mean sometime. It's liberating.

Of course they have, and they've also been on the receiving end of some "ethnic" cleansing.

The core of the problem is always when a group decides "they believe in a different sky-daddy so they must die." Remarkably, with the Abrahamic religions, it's more like "They have the same sky-daddy as us but they think he wears blue shoes, not red shoes. They must die!"

I understand that. Obviously they have different opinions about certain things. But most of us have different opinions about things without letting those differences continue to keep us at odds forever. Here you have 3 different belief systems, all coming from the same origin, that for some reason refuse to give the slightest bit and find a common ground and yet they atleast are all from Abraham. Why not start there if nowhere else and try and accept some of what each other have to say or something??

I could almost understand if we were talking about Scientology vs. Islam or something because they have nothing in common but the 3 branches of Abraham are all of the same source.

Let's see... It could be because what you're saying is correct...

But it could just as easily be your continued assumptions about what's "interpreted"...

& "saying something without saying it"...???

lol is that how a forum works is it?

Listen I'm here, no pseudonym or witty name, with my face in my avatar, and my residence in my profile...
So if I want to say something I'll say it without pulling punches.

Because I'm 100% real. & I don't think you know what testicular fortitude is.

Simple.

If I don't say it then you should refrain from second guessing what hasn't been stated.

I haven't mentioned Muslims...

Let alone Muslim persecution.

The guys an anti-theist atheist...
He could have targeted any religion...
& the parking spot narrative is pathetic...

That's what I've said in this thread.

& nothing else.

get defensive when someone calls you out.

No not when people "call me out"...

I get defensive when people make a baseless accusation because they're a confrontational know it all.

Maybe I can articulate it this way it might help. Understand this is not a perfect example.

Should all people who are from America agree to a political ideology because we all come from a Nation with the U.S. Constitution?
I dunno lets how how that works.

Why can we not all just agree?

Because there are wildly different ideas on what the document in this case the Constitution means when it makes certain assertions. Therefore what is legal and what is not legal becomes a dispute, and to give up a guiding principle of your faith for the sake of ecumenicism would for all parties be a denial of Gods will. Its one thing to get along its quite another to displease the almighty.

We have the same foundational document right?

Yes we do, but see above.

Now there might be a temptation to say, "Yea but we in the U.S. don't fight over our understanding of the Constitution."

But that has not always been true we had the civil war right?
