Yea and according to his older sister he was lighthearted and loved basketball.
Lighthearted is not the first thought that comes to mind when someone starts killing folks. LOL

That was the older sister of one of the kids that said that not the sister of the shooter. Just to be clear.

I am willing to bet that if this guy was going to snap over religion, it wouldn't have made any difference what his neighbors' religion happened to be. They would have caught the raw of his wrath so long as he knew they were religious and that resentment boiled over and focused on them. Heck, it doesn't even have to have been them that specifically provoked it; they may just have been the convenient targets when he popped.

As an anti-theist, he has hatred for all religions. So they could just have easily been Jewish, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist or anything else. All he had to know what they believed.

I don't know whether this guy is an atheist or doesn't like religion but he is certainly islamaphobic. Why kill 3 muslims? Why not a religious mixture? I think this is an act of terrorism. He is trying to terrorise Muslims in America.

What a lunatic. I hope he s in jail for the rest of his life.

Obviously the wife isn't going to paint her husband in a bad way, that's expected. In fact anyone close to anyone involved is going to have a skewed opinion so they should be taken lightly.

I'd say this guy probably just had some anger issues and apparently there was something about Parking which he seemed very serious about and it was enough to finally break the camels back. It happens all the time and people like to find the overall issue and tie it to society and all that but most often it's just a person under stress that makes a bad rash decision out of anger.

Correction accepted, however the point remains.

The point was that there will always be people who say "He was like this" and others who will say "He was this other way"

What someone believes about the guy is really their own business, but the claim that "he was such a nice quiet man" has been said by many a neighbor to serial killers, and is no more or less credible than someone saying "This guy is a real jerk and will kill someone because of parking"

Probably because that is who he was arguing with. It's not like he stalked them and hunted them down. They just happen to be who he was pissed at, apparently over parking, so that is who he acted against. I don't think he was hunting muslims and singled them out.

Antitheists may or may not focus on one or more religions or all religions. No way to know what he is as far as I can tell. If I was a betting person, I'd probably bet he doesn't even know what he is.

Just think about how much of this hate and focus on religion (or the lack thereof in some cases) has sunken into our subconscious.

Antitheism is not the same as atheism.
In case it matters.

Very true. It matters a lot. For some reason people like to toss them together and it's not necessarily the case. Good point. Important point.

I'm sure like most of us it all depends on who you ask. Ask about me and you'll get every answer under the sun depending on who it is. I'm sure everyone here has people that speak nothing but praise for them and people who wouldn't say a nice word if you paid them to do so. The truth is most likely somewhere in between. Plus, I can honestly say after 40 years of living I've certainly had my good and bad days and depending on when you crossed me you might one or the other impressions of me. Does that make it correct??? In that one instance maybe, but that may have just been that moment.

The parking situation seems interesting though. I've known people who have snapped over less so it's possible that he just snapped and over reacted.

On buzzfeed they are apparently posting all the info they can track back to him from his online activity. Here's one I found interesting.

The first amendment to our constitution guarantees freedom of religion, which takes precedence over any other “feeling” that any of us as Americans may have. Beyond that though after being in D.C. for a decade and knowing several dozen Muslims for most of that time I can say that they aren’t what most think of them. In fact, I’d prefer them to most Christians as I was never coerced in any way by the Muslims to follow their religion, which I cannot say about many Christians.

Kinda discredits the idea that he was "hunting muslims".

However it does give credence to another theory.

So then I'm wondering from where other than media speculation, and perhaps ideological interests, you arrive at your conclusion that it is not over a parking dispute.

Which theory is that???

Sounds to me like the guy just snapped. By looking over the victims facebook page it's really sad too because he seemed like a really good guy. Feeds the homeless. Married family man. Very active in the community. Going to be a Dentist. It's always good people that get taken out and the monsters left behind for some reason. Sucks for the rest of us.

Because it's not very often people go into someone else's house and execute 3 people over a parking space.

In fact, I've never heard anything like it.

Doesn't really matter why anyways.

He's a lunatic whatever the reason.

Apparently this is the world we live in now.

If someone kills a person/people of a different religion or race for ANY reason, it's going to be blamed on their religion or race so it can be made into a "hate crime" instead of just calling it what it is: legally-justifiable killing or murder.

White man kills a black man because the black man was stealing his car: it's because he's black.

Black man kills a white man because the white man tried to rob him at knife-point: it's because he was white.

Christian kills a Jew because the Christian had screws loose and killed the first person he saw: it's because the guy was a Jew.

Rinse, repeat for every scenario. There aren't just nut jobs who kill people anymore, now it's all about racial and religious differences. Let the divisiveness continue!

On the other hand, I do have to play devil's advocate to those who are comparing this to "Islamophobia" and claiming that if a Muslim did this, it would be looked at as terrorism. The obvious difference is that there are not Atheist leaders preaching church sermons that urge their followers to kill. There are not large groups of Atheist fighters who have vowed to kill anyone who believes differently than they do. Islamic extremism is in the minority but it's still a noteworthy difference.

Crazy people kill for crazy reasons. Sometimes it only takes one little thing to set them off.

He didn't kill them "because of a parking space." He killed them because he's mentally ill and his reaction to the frustration of the argument was to commit murder.

I have a working theory that there is a special kinda hate for Christians that is prevalent in the world at large. Charlie and I had a small conversation bout it in a different thread. We disagree on who is hated more Muslims or Christians but we are however friendly about it I think. LOL
