As i pointed out above, its just one writer from one outlet of many who are reporting variations of this story. If it were just alternet, id be agreeing with you that its completely bunk but a little due dilligence will show multiple stories by different authors.

I've been reading articles about what he supposedly told freinds and reporters about killing people in New Orleans and about killing the 2 robbers. This is the question I ask who are you going to believe someone who is a highly decorated navy seal or stories from suposive freinds of his and reporters. I was not in the special forces I was a simple infantry man but I've had the privliges of meeting green berets,Rangers and a seal team and none of them went around bragging about who they killed! Can a single soul here on ats give Chris Kyle the benefit of the doubt that maybe something he commented on was taken out of context or misreported or somebody has an agenda to ruin his reputation. Funny how members here can speculate on the craziest theories known to man but no one but me can give this dead seal the benefit of the doubt? My god Chris I wish you hadn't served these people were not worth your ,time, talent and your dedication to your country and family may God rest your soul and may many more men find the calling to be a fraction of the warrior you were!

Honestly, I was all for giving him the benefit of the doubt initially. But the fact that he refused to verify the story about killing the carjackers in Texas was suspicious. Him being painted as torn and tormented over his kills contradicts his own words in the book he wrote. He liked killing Iraqis. He wished he could have kept doing it. He used vulgar and disparaging names in reference to his enemies and the people of Iraq. Regarding the various special forces operators you had met, Exactly! There is NO bragging. It's looked down on and considered unprofessional and no offense, the territory of "regular grunts". If CPO Kyle had an iota of integrity he would have chosen his words more carefully. Does that make him a bad SEAL or sniper when he was at his duty station? No, not at all. Back in the World though, he was calling the shots. The choices were his. And in my opinion he dropped the ball. He forgot who he was and lost sight of his integrity. It doesn't take away from the lives he saved and soldiers he helped. It does however reflect on his character overall. I don't even normally discuss my service period so I can't fathom writing a book and putting it all out there like that and acting proud of it all. We had a $h//y job. But it was necessary. People relied on us so they could sleep at night. The boogie man was scared of my squad. But we weren't particularly proud of what we had to do. We certainly didn't brag about it or take lightly what we did. CPO Kyle did. I can't even understand the mindset let alone excuse it. That's just how I see it. I'm sorry if it doesn't jive with you but you're more than entitled to your opinion. You just need to understand that not everybody is going to share it and that doesn't make them a communist/socialist or feminized, hair colored man purse carrying sissy.

Read the book marine sniper by sergeant Carlos Hathcock he loved his job and had the same mindset killing the enemy that Chris Kyle did. He was so good at what he did that him and his commanding officer started original sniper school at quantico Virginia . He also made vulgar and disparaging names about the enemy I never heard anybody questioning his credibility? What the hell is wrong about making disparaging comments about the enemy our soldiers are there to kill and demolish them not cuddle up to them and read bedtime stories ! Read marine sniper sergeant Carlos loved killing the enemy also but he also had regrets and torments that's part of being a soldier!

Just there to kill people, ahh come on, that cannot be a real mission, unless you are talking about the sinister alphabet-agencies?

I was under the impression that the US was there to bring democrazy and freedom ? Golly! Was i wrong! Thanks for clarifying!

It is t Kyle's braggadocio that calls into question his credibility, its his own contradictory statements and refusal to verify claims he made. It makes me question what else he could have been disgonest about. As for how he referred to the enemy, if thats cool to you, thats your deal. For me, it calls imto question his integrity. Im not impressed with it in the least. Plenty of people are though. I get it, he needed to live up to the legend the Navy had built around him and he wanted to sell books. Andmaybe Im biased because snipers in general dont impress me. Sure its cool as hell thst they can make some of those shots. But as I said earlier, being as far away as a mile from your targets in some cases, while a very impressive shot, isnt as ballsy as being able to see the light fade from their eyes. But hey, he had a job and he did it well while he was there. I just take acception to how he conducted himself after coming home. Thats just my opinion and there will be plenty who disagree with me so let the cads fall wjere they may.

Are you kidding me a marine sniper is put on the battlefield to murder the enemy in cold blood Everytime he pulls the trigger and to demoralize the enemy in every way possible that is what they are trained to do anything less will get him and his men killed! Most soldiers don't have the skills or stomach to do it. This is probably why Carlos Hathcock and Chris Kyle wrote their books it was probably a form of therapy for what they had to do on the battle field ! For your information as far as assignations for the abc agencies Carlos Hathcock was loaned out to the cia on several occasions he once assisnated a chineese General he always regretted it because he felt that one kill escalated the Vietnam war. So I'm sure Chris Kyle worked for cia on several occasions it wouldn't suprise me. So yes they are just there to kill the enemy! Sniper=someone to kill people/enemy! Der t der!πŸ™ˆ

Read marine sniper maybe you will be impressed halfway through this biography of srgnt Carlos Hathcock he is being hunted by a vc sniper after days of being hunted by vc sniper he sees a flash of light in the distance so on instinct he shoots he then finds dead sniper with bullet hole through the scope and he realizes that the only way he could have made that shot was if enemy sniper had had him in his crosshairs at the same time Carlos just pulled the trigger first! Same situation as Chris Kyle . Chris had multiple bounties on his head he was also being hunted for out there everyday! Lol didn't impress you much haha I can tell you never served your country by that comment next lol! Can't believe I'm the one being called a troll try reading something more than alternet news and watching LSMSNBC news lol! Just to let you know I read shogun a 1700 page novel at the age of 8 so I'm no Sara palin lol

I understand the sentiment. Living in a bunk-bed giving orders to kill these people when you wake up. That is why you are there, to do your job, you are a sniper. And you are damn good at it.

Its almost like a great hunter. Killing more animals than he can hang on his wall. More food than needed, the Africans would say on a big hunt. I understand. You do as the others, to fit in, and do as your told, and everytime you come home from sniping, your capitalistic friends cheer you on! USA USA!

I now see the "heroism"...lying hidden at a rooftop, taking out people who never knew where it came from. Must grind your gears? There you are all powerful, no one knows your position, YOU decide who will live and die.. The power... ohh the power.
Then you get sent home, and feel useless... why? You are good at sniping people! The American Sniper is soo good he actually could kill the US President in '63?
You make me sick! - You lost your humanity...

Killing is of now, just something fun... Hitler was a camper!

Fun and giggles... lets see how anyone react with the choice of pulling the trigger as you & Kyle happily did...

Useless? How bout your a soldier out on patrol you hear a loud crack you feel an intense pain in your chest you realize you have been shot by the enemy you see your battle buddies pinned down under automatic weapons fire your closest buddy grabs a compress and shoves it in your wound so you dont bleed out you think your going to die then you notice one by one enemy ambushers are being picked off my some unknown force from above you think it's an act of God but no it's Chris Kyle or some other marine or army sniper on a roof top! You get shipped to a military hospital after getting patched up and healing you get to go home and see your beautiful wife and kids and your parents all because of that cowardly sniper on the roof ! Kyle being a real man goes home and realizes that he has a wife and family to support so he writes a book and makes 3 million dollars so while he is suffering from ptsd and other war related injuries he can sleep better at night knowing his family will be provided for no matter what happens how bout that perspective you loser!πŸ™ˆ

Nice wording. You should write a book too!
The sad thing is that you forget to ask yourself, why you are there in the mud, in the first place.
Could you have fought a greater battle at home, making sure no one has to even enter the war in the first place?
Or are you that daft, that you just had to grab a rifle?

Because im not impressed with dudes who hide from a mile away and brag about it? Whatever you say. If you had ever watched someone you were close to lose the top of their skull to one of the cowards you might be a little less on your hero kick. But what do I know... i apparently have never served hahaha

A soldier doesn't ask why he gets sent to a foreign land one day he's just sitting in his barracks maybe just cleaning weapons ,sneaking in 30 minutes of sleep or maybe just jerking it then a nco bangs on the door and let's him know they got orders to deploy and to get his gear ready and be ready for inspection in an hour or less! Soldier feels a lump in his throat because hey he just signed up for the college money not this crap! All of the sudden time is different it's like there is not enough time left to think about or change anything . You walk outside your room you see your buddies getting their gear ready their is an intense feeling in the air but nobody is crying or whining because you are all professional soldiers who took an oath and these are your brothers who will give their life for yours and vice versa !

Now this is just the courage and bravery of the average run of the mill grunt has. Now imagine a young man from Texas who loves his country and wants to serve it to the best of his ability so he joins the navy and volunteers to be a navy seal and completes the training that not one member of this site could complete and probabley not even 1 percent of the male population could complete but he does it anyways because of his mental determine to be the best. This is not enough though he volunteers to go to sniper school where only the best of each military branch are allowed to attend,Rangers , marines, green berets , para rescue and so on and he makes it! Then he volunteers to go to Iraq which is a known meat grinder for US soldiers and serves as the best sniper in US and world history and people here have the nerve to call him cowardly and unimpressive! LolπŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ

Bingo! You nailed it! Thanks.

A mile away - taking down a "jarhead", omg what a hero!

I fear the day they have the tech to bomb anyone on the spot, then later can claim it was just a sick suicide bomber, when it is in fact was a targeted attack. I wonder if that tech is already present.. imagine how you could blame the fanatics?
Clue: Look for the crater!
Just a far-out thinking...

I look forward to the day when the next terrorist attack happens that a world leader picks a spot about 20 miles downwind of Mecca and launches a tactical nuke as a warning shot and gets on the news and lets Muslim terrorist and whole world know next one will not be a warning shot and that next Muslim terror attack will result in immediate deportation of all Muslims back to Middle East !

What a brilliant tactical plan that is! No, really...strategy is clearly your forte! Your mom must be so proud thst she raised such a bigot steeped in ignorance with a frosted rim of buffonery laden ignorance waxing philosophical while improvising grand strategy. Mmm Mmm good... Just reread your first semtence... "I look forward to the day when the next terrorist attack happens" all so you can live out your bigots fantasy. Its rather disgusting. Seriously... I thought some of the crap you came out with earlier was whackadoodle but that takes the cake!

Did i call him a pussy because he was a SEAL? No, learn how to read. I think snipers are cowards, thats why I called him a pussy. I lost a good friend to a sniper, i have no respect for the profession. Anyone who skulks around from a hidey hole and targets others, especially the really chicken S# ones who shoot to wound and cause suffering or fire at civillians.

Whats wrong? Im not entitled to my opinion? Only bigots opinions are allowed today or what? I don't need to brag or talk myself up to try to impress you. Lets just say ai was an 11b amd spent over 16 months in schools at Ft. benning alone. Interesting that such a smug little prick thinks its acceptsble to address me as though we are on friendly terms with a cordial appelation and make requests without divulging their own info. Im starting to think that in stark comparison, you make CPO Kyle look like a great american hero.
