WOW

So now they can raid you for having bleach like substances.

I wonder how many meth labs they passed on the way to spook some kids that day.

Pffff.... The cops aren't going to target the meth labs. They're full of hard-core drug dealers and/or meth heads. It's too dangerous.

. . . the police already eliminated any physical abuse so we are left with just a charge of neglect and that in no way warrents all this mess. It is an over reach by police and could have been handled by cps visit as in most cases and not a raid.

When was that? I doubt anythings been eliminated. They haven't even had a court date yet.

IMO, due to past experiences with preppers, caution and preparedness by LEO is justified.

They stated that the charges being investigated are neglect and endangerment.

And spankings. How severe were these spankings?

I don't think we really know anything for sure.

You do realize most of us were spanked as kids and we happened to live to adulthood? Unless he was leaving scars on those kids, I'm sure they're ok. Heck my stepmother tried spanking me when I was 19 with a wooden spoon only because I'm 4'10" and she was almost a foot and a half taller than me, so to her way of thinking, that qualified me as being old enough still for a spanking, because I was short! Only she didn't realize now I was more agile too and able to keep out of reach, eventually she gave up and realized, maybe 19 is too old to try and spank. I'll admit, some of those occasions I probably deserved it as I had a very wise cracking mouth! I was constantly *tsk*ing, eye rolling, and back sassing. It got so bad one day, my dad just slapped me across the face in the back seat of the car from the driver seat, my response? "There, did that make you feel any better? If there was an award for sass and sarcasm, I would have won it, hands down! I thought I was the sh**! Eventually my dad and I had a long talk where he apologized for hitting me, and I apologized for being such a wisenheimer. I'm sure I'm not the ONLY mouthy teen on the planet growing up. Heck, I'm raising one right now. My dad handed down the curse and it worked. I'm raising one "just like me". So as I said, unless they were scarred for life, literally, I doubt a little spanking is going to kill them. Yes, most people do NOT spank anymore. I don't. However they are NOT my kids and it is not my place to correct someone else's children, now how to raise them.

I was reported to DCS because my daughter spilled milk on her shirt just as the school bus pulled up and she didn't have time to change into a new one before the bus pulled away. She had a full set a clothes in her backpack because she suffers from petit mal seizures that causes her to lose her bladder, so I call the school while she was on the bus on her way and told them to just put the shirt in her back pack on her instead. Their response? To call DCS for neglect. BTW, my daughter went to an autism school that we never had an issue with and they never had an issue with us. Thy had used her clothes in the back pack MANY times, why it was an issue that particular day, Lord only knows. DCS also questioned my daughter without an adult present at the school, without our permission and threatened to remove her from our home over milk spilled on a shirt 5 seconds before the school bus showed up. And yet, the lady next door to constantly threatened to throw her newborn down the stairs.

I, and my daughter, personally witnessed a guy kick his kids, slap them in the face, punch one in the chest because they didn't come home when he said to, and he almost kicked my daughter, she went to hide behind me! When I called DCS, NOTHING HAPPENED! The result? The guy almost ran us over every time he saw us trying to cross the street, and his daughters no longer played with my daughter, now, they bullied her, hitting, kicking, name calling, you name it. Would I get involved again? You bet your hieney!

Well then you know we are in a different era.

I'm 60+ years old ---- everyone got spanked in my generation.

Am now raising a high functioning autistc 7 year old grandson. I work very closely with the school.

I never had the DCS called on me. It was the father of a teen grandchild. The father yells and screams a lot.

Sounds like you need to move.

They were not severe enough for the police to list physical abuse as a reason for the raid.

I'm not completely sure that this is what you were trying to convey; if it is not take it for what it's worth but if it was:

Nobody should EVER need to move because an ineffective, draconian government agency run amok may take their children from them.

EVER.

I did. My daughter is now almost 20 and operates on a 12 year old level. She became violent when her father took her to cheat on me, then divorced me. This led to her being messed up a little bit. She's now in a group home and doing much better and visits me on weekends. The ultimate goal is for her to eventually move back into my home full time. Her father likes to treat her like an infant, which has been upsetting her greatly. He feels she shouldn't be on Facebook, even though only his family members and mine are on her list and her settings are private, and he feels 20 is too young for a cell phone. Now he is trying to force her to move back to the state that we just moved from with all the DCS issues. I told her she is an adult now, and she can make her own choice where she wants to live. She chose where she is presently. He considered that as "persuading her to see it my way". Whatever, if allowing her to be an adult and make her own decision is persuading her, then fine. Guilty. She's happy here, let her be happy for once.

It sounds like you have/had sucky neighbors.

We did have to do "detox" Monday after granddaughter spent weekends with her dad. But, he was not physical with her.

Teens do over dramatize and that is a problem for the DCS --- and parents.

You are posting an example of what i think is the heart of the problem. There is no responsibility on people that make false claims or anonamous claims. As a matter of fact most of the time the enforcment agencies love those kind of claims. I think it is there version of porn.

I can tell you right now, for a fact, she is NOT over dramatizing this. My ex flat out ordered me to NOT get her a cell phone. (He thinks he can still run my life, even though we are no longer married.) I have raised my daughter to be an independent young woman, not an infant that must rely on everyone for everything. I have raised her to realize it is ok to ask for help. Because I treat her like the young woman she is, I understand why is upset at her father. She showed me the text messages between them and the private Facebook messages. (Yes, I helped her set up the account. She's an adult, I have the password and monitor it daily. She can only go online when she visits me anyway.) He DOES treat her like an infant. I can't talk to him because after the divorce he asked me to never contact him again unless she were at his house. He cheated on me and raped me twice, yet HE is pissed at me. Let him. I have forgiven him and moved on and am at a happy place in my life. My only concern is my daughter.

I think so as well. And sadly there are valid claims that they do investigate and do absolutely nothing about, then wonder why you read stories about kids dying years later, or shooting up a school, or killing their parents.

It sounds like you both treat her like a child and, whether you know it or not, you're still in a relationship with your ex. If she's an adult, let go of the apron strings and move on with your life. This thread is about a particular case and shouldn't be an opportunity for you to "share" your ongoing personal drama. In fact, I probably shouldn't have commented about it but I get sick of people using threads for group therapy sessions and suggestions which they always ignore--as you'll ignore both of mine.

Time will tell whether the police acted correctly in removing those children. In any event, it has nothing to do with your personal life.

A small bit of exercising the thought regions of your brain will likely show you that the situations are similar and the events do have relevance in this case involving cps and such.

Kids weren't taking it though, only dad was. One of the older kids took it with him to a friend's house and pretended to cough to make it seem like this product was making them, the kids, sick. Therefore, now the police and child services had a reason to go in.
