A video has emerged (we’ve included it below) of an American military member in Afghanistan. The still screen of the video shows a man, dressed in a tee shirt, shorts, and a red, white and blue head scarf, holding a red electric guitar.

Quite a different scene than the traditional image of a soldier dressed in his military clothing and holding his weapon of choice!

The video reveals that the man is standing on a rooftop in an unnamed location in Afghanistan. His guitar is buzzing loudly — people all around the rooftop would be able to hear the song that is being strummed on the instrument.

To everyone’s surprise, the soldier is playing the United States National Anthem!

To make the video even more patriotic, the camera eventually pans to an American flag being flown proudly in the background.

The person who posted the video stated that, “In a truly exceptional show of American patriotism, the soldier, decided to act out against the religion that has disrespected that world so much during the recent days [sic].”

And, what is more, the soldier played the anthem during a Muslim prayer time.

seeing that before the U.S. and the coalition forces went into afghanistan and removed the taliban from power and made them just another terrorist group, and stopped the war on women that they were waging. you know, the beating them with sticks or killing them for leaving the house without a male escort from their family, or cutting of their fingers for wearing nail polish, or killing little girls that wanted to go to school, beating men for letting their female family do these things, or not wearing a bread, no tv, radio, internet, and a whole host of other things that they said violated sharia law. while they profited from the sale of opium poppy sales being the big hypocrites that they are.
just check out the talibans human violations that were filed before the U.S. and the coalition forces went into Afghanistan.

knowing all that, i think that they could bear just a couple minutes to honor one of the countries that help put a stop to all that, without being offend. it they can't pull all the troops that are going to be left as support for the Afghan government, military and police force and watch how fast the taliban or isis come back or move in and take over. just like Iraq

Just curious...how do we know it was during prayer time? You can see the flag being raised in the background, which means it's morning colors, which is usually at 8 a.m. In the naval services, and usually around 630 in the army, but can vary a bit depending on the base commander.

Quick search of current prayer times across Afghanistan puts the first prayer around 5:45 and the second prayer anywhere from 7:00 to 7:30.

Colors is nearly always accompanied by the star spangled banner. The base commander would've been aware of local prayer times, which don't really match up with colors times.

Sounds to me like somebody embellished the story to give it some extra oomph or something.

Then again the beard means he's likely special operations so who knows
