I couldnt stand this man...........untill I read what he said on radio today, noway would the whipping boys master come out with anything so bold but true. I feel bad calling him the whipping boy now,

UK Deputy Prime Minster Nick Clegg on his LBC radio phone-in show says in a free country there can be no right not to be offended: "They have killed cartoonists who have done nothing more than draw drawings which they so happen to find offensive. At the end of the day, in a free society people have to be free to offend each other. You cannot have freedom unless people are free to offend each other. We have no right not to be offended. And that fundamental principle of being free to offend people is exactly what was under threat by these murderous barbarians."

No doubt Cameron and his Eton buddies beat him senseless for talking out of place

In fact I surprised a lib dem came out with such a comment, normally they are only one step behind the greens as wishy washy PC do gooders.

According to the Le Monde feed, the police are searching the forest around Corcy. They think the suspects may be on foot.

There is also mention of an explosion that is supposed to have taken place in Marseille this morning.

Le Monde says that the story about the explosion was a rumour which is not true.

I might be wrong but I don't think the police have actually found the gray Clio automobile that the suspects were last seen driving. They are presuming that it has been abandoned.

Correction:

Apparently several sources, according to the Le Monde feed, report that the vehicle was abandoned.

LeMonde.fr:
The suspects abandoned the car, according to several sources

Several sources, including AFP and the newspaper L'Union, confirm that the suspects abandoned their vehicle near the Longpont forest.

They should be able to find them with infrared sensors from the helicopters, after nightfall.

Things are coming to a head, apparently, according to the Le Monde feed:

Selon notre reporter sur place, les journalistes ont été écartés, de nombreux renforts arrivent, et la tension monte parmi les policiers.

Translation:

According to our reporter on site, journalists were dismissed, many reinforcements arrive, and the tension rises among the police.

Islam doesn't have a monopoly on religious people who don't understand the culture of the West.

Without freedom of expression, there is no Western culture.

Massive build up of police and what looks like the counter terrorist group near me.

I was driving past the M20 (Motorway that leads to the channel tunnel ) and saw them setting up.

Not sure if a connection

Shame I was driving or I would get a picture.

I am i am muslim and like hundreds of millions of muslims around the world, i Can take no more to see my religion kidnapped by these crazy - furious, these murderers who sow Fear and hatred against islam in the world. I am sick of the see use and abuse our silence and divert our identity, Our values, for the strategic purposes purely terrestres. Kill 12 people, 12 fathers,, son, husbands, children, blood Cold, because their values and their constitution guaranteed freedom of laugh at everything, even the Sacred, whether we like it or not.. Kill them and say that it is to avenge our prophet! My prophet, it is well above this act of pure barbarism.. I do not think it was proud today that 12 human souls, 12 Creatures of god, have been murdered in his name.

So you're comparing the number of people killed by Breivik and abortion doctors killed to the thousands of murdered by ISIS and Al Queda over the past year? Muslim extremists killed more innocent students and teachers in that school last month than the two instances combined you referenced. Don't even go there.

Over a million people have been killed since the invasion by the UK/US/FRA of Afghanistan & Iraq.
We can play this game all day long, so yeah - 'Don't even go there'
It can't be one rule when a few extremist Muslims do something and another when Christians do something.
If Muslims have to take to the streets and denounce every evil, radical Muslim then so do the Christians when it's 'their ilk'

FALSE. go to iraq body count. they also count afghanistans dead too. try less than half of that number. you are refrencing a pollster who has been debunked as using faulty data. nice try though.

NO

It took the CIA with Osama Bin Ladin to train Afghans to become Mujaheddin.

Oh my goodness, what patience Muslims must have to put up with all of these offenses, I'm surprised they aren't attacking unarmed people more often! And as much as people may enjoy South Park and believe it speaks for them, it's just another part of what makes the why bother generation so unappealing, they have no answers, no hope to offer, only shallow observations that translate into nothing greater than snide one liners. No offence to fans of the show out there, it's genuinely funny television sometimes, nevertheless it's not philosophy, it's not sincere, and it's no replacement for actually educating ourselves on religious matters.

Furthermore, and this is an awful shame, nobody here (not even the greatest Islamic scholars) can produce a coherent non-violent interpretation of Islam, who they can produce is an unschooled Muslim that honestly believes they're following an innocent religion that promotes nothing bar equality and understanding, but that's merely backing up their inability to produce peaceful Islam with someone else's inability to recognize violent Islam, it's tantamount to having the number zero, then believing if they add another zero into the situation they'll end in one! But as a wise man once said: 'zero plus zero plus zero times a million still equals zero.' No amount of peaceful Muslims are going to magically rearrange 'fight the unbelievers' into Forgive them Father, they know not what they do, one is poetry, prophecy, history and life to the most desolate reaches of the world, whereas the other through bullets and bombs is causing that desolation.

If anyone reading is experiencing a fishhook about their eye right now, or perhaps an overwhelming need to type 'That's not fair!' I'm sorry to write this isn't about being fair or unfair in that fashion, neither is it about being hateful or unloving, it's about being true to the belief systems as found in the Bible and Qur'an, and only when liberals behave like liberals can any proper progress be made, until that day they're coddling people everywhere and dooming everyone, even going as far as to destroy Muslim children that are destined to a lifetime of rape that goes on in child marriages (Qur'an 65:4), in addition to supporting domestic abuse (Qur'an 4:34), they're protecting minds in stagnation and turning their backs to the suffering of ethnic minorities and homosexuals brutalized due to Islamic doctrine everywhere, moreover they're accomplices who refuse to condemn murder as it happens right before their eyes, they're truly killing Muslims with kindness and perfecting their submission.

From the Le Monde feed: There has been an explosion in the Paris suburb of Villejuif. No reports of injuries. Reporters on the scene say that it was a car bomb and that the vehicle had been parked in that location for a few days. There is no report of a connection with the Charlie Hebdo attack.

Note: the name of the suburb has nothing to do with Jews. It is a corruption of the latin from Roman times, meaning, Villa of Juvius, according to Wikipedia.

Of course, not every terrorist does a Wiki check on the name of a target. Some might, in their zeal, ASSume a connection where there is none.

I see a lot of people using the term "free speech". But, nobody defining what they mean by this.

Remember, everything that's happening here is "free speech".

The cartoonist's were exercising their free speech in drawing the cartoons.

The attackers were exercising their free speech in responding to those cartoons.

But, people tend to ignore the fact that the attackers were also following the same idea of freedom of expression.

They were responding according to the doctrine of "eye for an eye".

If people can understand this point, then the whole world would attain peace.

It is just lack of understanding of this one simple point, that is causing all the problems in the world.

What does "eye for an eye" mean?

If you do something to offend me, then I do something to offend you in return.

That's "an eye for an eye".

Now, in interpreting this verse of scripture, people tend to neglect certain things.

So, for example. Let's take this French case. The cartoonist believe, that if they draw a cartoon
that offends a Muslim, then the Muslim is free to respond by drawing a cartoon to try to offend the cartoonist
in return. The problem is that the cartoonist would not be offended by the Muslim's cartoon.

So, a Muslim can't respond by drawing cartoons. That would just produce laughter. He has to find something that would be truly offensive to the cartoonist. That's the application of "eye for an eye."

When people use the term "free speech", they don't give a lot of thought about what this means.
It usually means to them, whatever they think it should mean in the heat of the moment.

First of all, there's the freedom given by God to man. Or, if you prefer, and don't believe in any God, it's the
freedom Nature gives to man. Man has the defacto power of "freedom of action." And all action is a form of
expression, it's a method of speaking and communicating to others.

Some societies try to limit some of the expressions that man is naturally allowed, to a reduced set of actions, so that
there is some sort of "civilized" interaction possible.

For some people, that means you are free to say anything "verbally", but not do anything. Others believe
that free speech include things like marching in the streets, protesting some unfairness, etc..

Yet others believe that freedom of expression includes smashing windows, burning cars, and looting shops,
when there's grievous injustice that needs more serious protests.

Other believe that planting bombs, shooting at targets, bringing down airplanes, etc. are the forms of free
speech necessary to raise their objections to some injustice they perceive.

Yet other nations go to war, to exercise their freedom of expression.

It's all free speech.

Since everybody has their own definition of free speech, the first thing needed is to come to some agreement
about what "free speech" should be accepted by men.

Do we want people in our society who believe in "an eye for an eye"? Remember, there's the Jesus way, the one
of "forgiveness". Or do we want people in our society who do believe in "an eye for an eye"? Remember, there's the
Jewish way of "justice". Or do we want people in our society who do not believe in any reaction? Remember, there's
the Buddhist way of non-violence, meditation, and in-action.

Obviously, when we throw all the different peoples into the same pot, we're going to get some confusions.

Which is the right way?

If we accept other people with different beliefs in our societies, then if we disrespect them deliberately, then
we should be happy when they disrespect us back in return. We should cheer, when they offend us. Because,
it means we were able to offend them and incite them to react to us. We're communicating. We're speaking
to each other. So, we're happy.

If we want a different reaction instead, well, we're smart, we're intelligent, so we know what to do to get
the alternative reactions also. Simple, isn't it? Problems solved.
