I don't compare hair or eye colour...no comparisons were being made, I was using someones distinctive features to identify them. Insinuating that I share personality traits with hitler is a bit of a stretch, perhaps I took that the wrong way.

But what you are saying is pretty much what I'm saying...I don't really care what a person looks like and place no value in these physical characteristics.

Which is why I cannot grasp the concept of why people are so touchy about such things - this response being a case in point. If you were in fact insinuating that I have resemblance to hitler then I'll certainly consider and ponder on that, if not then I apologise for misreading your response.

Either way I ain't that bothered, although I may start a rant about it!

I can kind of understand why it might bug some people. Basically, it's like saying that the person's identity can be summed up by a color when it clearly can't. The problem is that I can't relate. When a black guy refers to me as "that white dude at the block party", I'm not offended in the least. Especially if I was one of the only white people there... that just makes sense.

I can also tell you that I've only been glared at by white people when I say it. Never once has a black person been angry at me acknowledging their blackness. It's waaaaay more awkward to ignore it.


ps edit - Next time somebody gets mad at you about it, call them racists for insinuating that being black is something to be ashamed of. That's how I take it, anyway. Pretending "black" is offensive and insulting is racist itself.

I think we need to better redefine the names our our races, some races still hold association with the geograpical areas they live in.

However, we don't call all Asian people chinese because not all asians are mongoloids. What are white people called Cocasian? But they lived in all of these geographic areas that *asians* lived in. So why are all *asians* associated with mongoloids? or rather the world associates the geographic area of Asia (Which is a huge landmass) as the being solely populated by mongoloids.

It's a bit complicated because humans have migrated. We may assume our linages based on geneology and geographic knowledge and records but beyond that.

All humans stem from the same common ancestors. That is what makes us human. But its funny some of these definitions of ractial types are projected upon humanity as a whole as labeling africans black people who moved to america as african american. I'm pretty sure the common terminology is Negroid, caucasoid, Mongoloid, Theres some others or w.e But these have to do with phenotypes and are the scenitific name for those *black people* who came from the sub-sahara.

It's not going to help if you start calling people negroids because of the abriviated form is offensive.
However, black people just just as well call us Cockies or cocky. I'm sure the slurr would be much more subtle. And calling a mongoloid a savage mongolian would sure win you a spot on their dislike list.

Remind them of how small and insignifigant the world is. remind them that they live on a tiny ass blue dot and the closest thing you have to a friend that will help us if we were invaded by aliens is that man/woman of various shades from pigments or lack there of will be by your side.

Until then we are all spinning on this ball hurrling around the sun and you being your color is not any supperior to that of a blue or orange star.

They will be left fuming with rage. And if you want to dig deep start talking about aliens and about how even if we care so much about race the aliens don't they make no distinction between humans.

I was just blowing off a bit of steam and trying to have some fun and prompt some discussion.

As it's the rant section, I didn't really want to condense my outburst into a few lines or paragraphs as I feel it kind of detracts from what makes a rant a rant, you have to be overly verbose, dramatic, theatrical even, these are ranting guidelines that for some reason I blindly established and followed sub-consciously, and I never really questioned it until now.

Just talk about said person as if the person is just like any other person with no distinction of precise labelling. Unless you are talking to a cop i'd leave the fine details out unless you want people to attach the idea that this story is about a specific race and you are saying it to reaffirm suspecions of hate towards said race.
